I have seen this quite a bit myself Mike. You know the main counter board is wave soldered. But the out side transistors and metal case is hand soldered. I have to wonder what they put on those terminals before going into the wave solder process. You will also find the B&K 2040 has this issue as well.
That's why I said test equipment in the video because I have seen it in my 2040's as well. It's not just the hand soldered or wave soldered portions, its the whole board. I have replaced IC's on these boards and their just like this. I really think it was the copper they used that didn't mix well with the solder and over the decades starts to break down.
You may be correct. I have a 2040 I have considered to be useless now. The whole board is like that. You can push a component and it will come loose. Regardless what I do I can not get solder to stick to the copper. Even silver solder will not stick.
Well Mike, I have an Intek/galaxy and it's FC had intermittent functionality. After I replaced the electrolytics I found a bad solder on the main board for the coax... Well, the capacitors replacement solved for the most part the switching noise caused by the display driver
good tip with the fiber glass! as for the connections not being properly soldered, i believe those were done by hand in an assembly line, its very possible it took too much time to flux it first... and poor QC

Why have you stopped uploading HD videos? A quick check shows that all of the post CPI CP300 videos are SD. For me, at least, it does make a difference in the level of visible detail.
