But that is what he taught him. The problem is Johnny was trying to teach these kids how to face their enemies on the street. He taught them that in real life your enemy doesn't play fair. But he failed to realize that this doesn't translate to organized competition. Especially when his own kid is on the receiving end of it.

Johnny does plenty wrong. He teaches "No mercy" and only after regrets it and tries to change. After two seasons, he still is seeking what he wants to teach as far as principles. Daniel is the opposite. He knows what he wants to teach and does so, but he does not follow it. His speech to Robby in the locker room is great, but Daniel does not live up to the words he says to Robby. And, that is why the series is so good. The story is one of men who are flawed and hopefully will grow. But, when they really do, the series ends soon after.

This who series was far beyond my expectations and the best reboot ever!! There has to be a season 2. I want to see how Robby’s character develops with Daniel and how Johnny and Cobra Kai plays in this.

It's cool because you're seeing how Daniel's success made him prideful, but you're seeing glimpses of humility in Johnny. That will somehow lead to the redemption of his character. This is really good writing.

And to think, Will Smith had a hand in this as a Executive Producer. Things that make ya go hmmmm. :-P All I know is THIS was waaaaaaaaaay better than The Karate Kid movie starring Will Smith's son (That movie should have been called "The Kung Fu Kid").

Team Express saw in an interview the creators more or less said he had to be involved because he owned a portion of the rights because of the garbage remake. They said nice things about his production company, they were very helpful etc, but also said they didn't have a choice.

I rolled my eyes dramatic style when I saw the promotions. But this was awesome!

Team Express which makes Robby’s line: “I feel like Jackie Chan” all the more hilarious. Great stuff.

The amusing detail comes in some of the flaws of Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai coming forward again. Miyagi-Do isn't aggressive enough and is too showy to be as effective a style of self-defense, but it hones the mind better and that mentality could counter the weakness of the more pragmatic but far too aggressive Cobra Kai style. Daniel needs to improve the physical training aspect for season two, Johnny needs to focus on discipline in season two. Looking forward to it! Meanwhile i better cancel that RU-vid Red subscription before they charge me and hope season two lands on greener shores than the Google shithole.

The reason why that is regrettable is it is hackneyed screen writing... they developed Hawk into a cool kid who found a new sense of identity in Karate and being himself... and they THROW IT ALL AWAY in the split second of an eye... just to tug at the heart strings of the viewer... "because it's the SEASON FINALE gotta go for broke" mentality. So all this nuanced character development they sh it all away because it is a tournament. Crappy ending! I thought the black girl would have stood up for Miguel when talking with Miguel's lady friend as they sat together. She could have said "look Miguel never drank beer before... and he spent the entire day worrying about why you didn't respond to any of his texts or calls. And then you showed up with a cute guy arm and arm giggling down the hill... think about it... even though he started a fight with the guy... cut him some slack." And the girl could have been like "yeah well I don't care he hit me and blah blah." That would have made Miguel look less of like an immediate deadbeat from one teenage party drunken mistake c'mon!

All y'all seem to be forgetting what Robbie said that triggered Hawk, which was insulting his haircut. Y'know, the basis of his new identity? The identity he took on to escape his old one, that saw him ridiculed throughout his school life back when he was powerless to do anything about it? There were even a few other hints earlier in the season that the hairstyle is integral to his new, cooler identity (for instance, when Demitri said Hawk's name in a sarcastic way, which pissed him off pretty quick). From my perspective, the attack wasn't out of character.

Makes me think that danny's father was actually tied to organised crime the way he was speaking when he was chatting with robby which also makes it difficult to me to trust danny just like johnny doesn't trust him

However, it's blurred and there's no real villain in this series - that's what makes the episodes of the new show so entertaining

I absolutely love this show and the Karate Kid movies but the progression is all out of whack for me; I have been training for 9 years (this October) and it definitely doesn’t work like it does in this show/ movies. Still love these but it’s just a nitpick I had to put out there.

It's kind of ironic you mention Star Wars. Cobra Kai is reusing quite a lot of plot from the movie, but with new elements. Just like The Force Awakens was pretty much the same storyline as A New Hope, but with new elements added in.

Which hawk is legally responsible for delivering confusion worse and battery Hawk threatened robby first by saying things are going to get way worse or something along those lines so what robby says about hawks haircut was actually fair game. Robby Keene then, walks away with back turned trying to defuse the situation so what's hawks response to robby's non aggression - pow a sucker strike to the back injuring robby's shoulder. I'm not even sure if those tournament officials have th the particular best interest at heart especially when they should have at least ordered eli ( or whatever he wants to called now ) off the premises not only a simple disqualification

I think you're right but 1 major thing, when Johnny's car gets set on fire that steps over the line and they should've been arrested in my opinion, there'd have been fire dept, police, everywhere in that sort of scene later. So there the Larusso's stepped over the line and became bad that's outright dangerous

Right on the money. I figured this would happen from the previews, and they really fleshed out that premise. You see, many great stories have the anti-hero crossing back over and the hero going to the other side. While its classic storytelling, it's not done that often so it felt fresh and compelling. Just think about the arch of Darth Vader, he goes from light side to dark side and back to light side at the very end. What I loved was the conflict in Johhny having his student who he cares for fight his son who he loves, the conflict was so great.
