Cobra Kai Season 5 (2022) Scene: Terry Silver vs. Daniel LaRusso Final Dojo Fight (Quick Silver) TV Series Info:www.imdb.com/title/tt7221388/ Watch on Netflix: www.netflix.com/ #HashBrown #TheKarateKid
Fun Fact: Daniel has never done a crane kick in any of the five Cobra Kai seasons before this one. Johnny did it to mock him and Miguel used it in the first tournament, but Daniel was saving it for the perfect moment after 50 episodes to take down his greatest enemy. Epic.
I personally would have preferred Daniel to defeat Silver with that "Back-Spin Kick" characteristic from Terry. Like, he not only uses his technique against him, but he also defeats him by using his signature move. Likewise, this way is still epic and iconic.
He also metaphorically gave Silver the middle finger by blocking ALL of his kicks, and the Silver Bullet. Those are all moves Silver relies on the most.
They definitely mock the movies in the show. They outright talk about how nonsensical some of the plot lines were and how none of it made sense, especially Part III. They just do it lovingly and not in a mean spirited way.
A small detail I think gets overlooked in this scene is that Terry picks up Tory's trophy to attack Daniel. It's a clever way of showing that Tory's "win" meant nothing to him.
I think it also symbolically represents Daniel getting back at Silver for robbing his and Johnny's students of their rightful victory, and how failing to attack Daniel with the trophy shows just how ineffective an unearned win is in the long run.
This is the first time in three movies and five seasons that Danny looked and felt almost as untouchable as Mr. Myagi. No one was beating Danny in a fight this night.
It still would've been better if sliver struck him a few times, maybe Daniel gets knocked on the ground and have a flashback of Mr. Myagi saying don't lose to fear, you stay focused, and then he becomes untouchable
@@douglasharrington9156Nah it’s better that he was untouchable he had won in every way possible while Terry was losing his mind. The one sided beatdown showed that he had achieved true balance. Using Miyagi as his only reliance wouldn't be as powerful, because Daniel had grown to become his own sensei at this point nt.
I absolutely love the fact the way this show protected and stayed true the movies, whilst introducing a modern day twist. As a fan of the movies, thanks for making this as special as the films.
@Montana-tw7im I would say it's more about the analogy, "two sides to every story". In KK1, Daniel is naturally considered the hero because we see him rise up from being bullied and beat on by Johnny and his Cobra Kia henchmen, without really knowing why Johnny was so enraged by Daniel. In the movie, we don't have much of a back story for Johnny, except that he's perceived as the angry ex. The shows master stroke of having Johnny, with intermingled clips from the movie, explain his side of the story. Johnny's story is very credible and looking at it from perspective, some the thing Daniel did the movie could be considered as provocative, but it did make me think that maybe Daniel isn't the as good as he thinks he is, especially considering his show off behaviour towards Johnny when he visits his car showroom.
I'm 100% with you in this one. Most "nostalgia filler" flicks just try to sell exactly that: Nostalgia. This one show the precise amount of references to the old stories to feel connected, to feel that you are still watching the same characters, but at the same time, it's the modern day. They are the same characters but with 30 years of life, of experiences, and a new generation that will take the helm. This fight was awesome, yet the show isn't just about old men trying to act like they are teen: It's a show about the new generation, and the world that the older ones are leaving for them!
This is really where Daniel shines. Combining the teachings of both Mr Miyagi and Chozen to show he's fully mastered Miyagi-Do, he uses an Eagle Fang move all while using Terry's own Quicksilver method against him. Daniel has finally found the balance and combined everything he's learned into his own style.
The best martial artists learn just as much from failure as they do from success. “Defeat in anything is merely temporary. Defeat simply tells me that something is wrong in my doing; it is a path leading to success and truth.” - Bruce Lee
I had to yell hell yes when Daniel had his flashback of Silver showing the quicksilver method of fighting as soon as i heard Silver say a man cant stand he cant fight i knew where the scene was going it was awesome im sure we will get another season and im thinking julie will make her return from the next karate kid she is the only one that hasnt shown up yet what do you think?
This is hands down the ABSOLUTE BEST fight scene in the entire series cause I feel like during this scene, Daniel truly overcame his fears from the events of Karate Kid 3.
@@roycegrissett3580 Fanbase is aiming towards Terry vs Chozen, but either way, how is Terry vs Daniel even the best one when Terry was already hurt when he fought daniel?
Daniel doing the Crane Kick is symbolic not just because it’s his most iconic move but because it represents him finally finding balance. He made peace with his rivals. He has the full support of his family. And he blends everything he’s learned into a style that fits him and helps him overcome his PTSD of Silver. He learned how to stand so he could fly
Ok, when you put it like that..... Honestly, when I saw him getting into that stance, I was like there is no way Daniel can beat Silver straight up & not only that, he's gonna beat him w/ this garbage move??? The fact that he basically caught Terry by surprise w/ it was all I was accepting. If this universe never happened & someone did that stance & kick in real life, you'd see it from a mile away. & because of that, I didn't think we'd see it again cause it's too predictable, even for this universe. But w/ you mentioning Daniel really finding peace throughout this season & finding balance (literally & figuratively) it makes sense for that to be the finale.
@@djb10 tbh it can work if you set it up well, I was doing sparring in karate yesterday and I managed to fake someone out by chambering one leg like the crane kick and I landed a jumping roundhouse on him with the other leg It’s the element of surprise aspect I guess
Once Daniel knew that the people he cared about needed him to end Silver, Daniel became unstoppable. Amanda and Sam telling him that they needed him was important, Robby telling Daniel they need him gave Daniel that same energy he had in KK3 when he said to Miyagi, “now will you train me?”
Yep, he sure is at this very moment, and I like to think that Mr. Miyagi is proud of Daniel in the afterlife, with Tears and a Smile on his face, realizing Daniel overcome his fears and PTSD, wish he was still here with Daniel, he would be really proud
What this show did is really priceless. Nobody in a million years thought there would be a sequel story about Danny and Johnny, let alone seeing all their enemies and former allies again to work their stories up. Infinite thanks to the creators
Imagine going back in time to outside a movie theater in 1989 where a bunch of people are disappointed after seeing The Karate Kid part 3 and letting them know "No seriously, you wasted your $5 seeing the movie, but 35 years from now this movie will lay out the roots for something a lot better."
Daniel kept Rule # 1, to quote Miyagi "Karate for defense only" ,in practice the whole time and used no more attack moves than he had to to stop Terry. Terry's motive and attitude was revenge and anger where Daniel would've made peace with Terry if Terry would've wanted it. Daniel doesn't want to have to fight anybody but he's trained and prepared if he has to, always doing it in the most honorable way he can.
The best fight of all the movies & series. Daniel is truly master, he used every move Miagi ever taught him & even reversed quicksilver by not performing the 3 rules without breaking bones or going for blood.
It’s a perfect moment that we finally see Daniel become a Karate MASTER! Finally blending Mr.Miyagi’s fighting style and defense, Johnny’s offense, Chozen’s techniques and patience, Matt’s aggression and relentlessness, and Terry Silvers mentality! He finally became the ULTIMATE master!
No he mastered his aggression which he learnt fighting Mike. Terry tried to make Daniel aggressive to make him lose focus. As again, Mike just rushed in when Daniel was telling him to be calm and think about it. He learned how to tackle aggression .
There are a lot of inconsistencies about Daniel's abilities throughout the movies and TV show, but one thing was always consistent: Whenever he found himself in a position on 100% focus, whether it be through the guidance of Miyagi, Chozen, a family member....he became as unbeatable as Miyagi used to be.
...u got the right to feel fear but not to defeat for it!!.......focus your sight!!!......Miyagi Words KK just to honestly encourage and drive Danny to the Victory!!
Daniel beat Terry using the QuickSilver method but without any cheap shots. He didn't sweep the leg, he held him down. He didn't chop Terry's neck, he hit him in the gut & chest with a double punch. And he did this while emulating Mr.Miyagi's movements at the same time! This is truly Daniel in his prime.
It’s actually a throw back to when Miyagis bonsai tree was destroyed and Daniel was so flustered and distraught about it, but after they tried to repair, Daniel asked if it’ll be okay, then Miyagi says the words: “the roots strong, tree will surivive.”
Two things I absolutely loved about this scene: 1. In Karate Kid 3 when Terry Silver fought Miyagi, Miyagi finishes the fight by throwing Silver into the mirrors lining the dojo, shattering them. The shattering of the Cobra Kai logo after the crane kick is a nice reference back to that fight. 2. At the end of Karate Kid 3 right before overtime against Barnes, Miyagi's final advice to Daniel was that while it's okay to lose to your opponent, you can't lose to fear, and that Daniel needed to focus on the task at hand and let out his best karate. After spending much of Season 5 being paranoid about what Silver would do, and even getting beaten up by Silver in stingray's apartment when he was genuinely afraid (for himself, but mostly for his wife, kids, and students), you can see there was a marked change in Daniel by this point. His approach to the final fight with Silver was composed, focused and devoid of fear, allowing him to let out his best karate and beat his opponent. It was really a fantastic way to end the Season. To echo the thoughts of others, it's really commendable how well the writers and producers of this show stay true to Miyagi's teachings and weave that through the fabric of the show. It's very well done. As a final point, Thomas Ian Griffith has been plain awesome in his reprised role as Terry Silver. To think the guy hasn't even really been acting for the last 15 years. I hope he gets some more work out of this, even on other shows.
Daniel became Miyagi in this fight! Daniel didn’t even get hit in this fight ala Miyagi style! Daniel ascended to Miyagi level here and the bonus was that he also unleashed thee karate kid in the process! Up until then his wife etc have never seen the spirit of thee karate kid but Daniel showed them all just like he has to others in the past! Epic
Is because he has everyone supporting him including cobra kai students. His family is there so he found his resolve. Silver has no one not even that Chinese lady cares about him. She wants his dojo lol
One of the coolest callbacks is Daniel using Silver’s method to defeat him, since Chozen said, “To catch serpent, you must think like serpent” earlier in the season
I was so excited most of all to see him use the "crane crap" against Silver, who had mocked him for the crane kick all those years ago. Such beautiful irony.
Daniel is the ultimate fighter. He can use his enemies tricks against them as he has learnt pretty much every Dojo. This is my favourite fight in the entire series and films.
I really love that Daniel absolutely destroyed Silver here. As a lifelong Daniel fan, who also thinks Silver is the best villain in the series, we saw him destroy Daniel while he was off-balance... but when Daniel found that balance and had the support of everyone he cared about, he dug those roots deep and Silver didn't stand a CHANCE.
This will NEVER get old. Using the flashbsck of Silver explaining the quicksilver method while Daniel was using the quicksilver method on Silver with the Crane Kick at the end was GLORIOUS!
Technically silver still won this fight, Daniel used the technique Terry taught him to defeat Terry Silver. If it wasn’t for him, Daniel would’ve lost, AGAIN!
@@Rambo20244 no one asked for ur opinion, who won the first fight between silver and LaPusso? Who won the fight between silver and Johnny in Season 4? Who got the W between Silver and Chozen? Who got Kreese locked up? Who beat up stingray? Who was so calculated that fooled the entire all valley tournament to thinking Cobra Kai won? Who was so much of a threat that it took mike, Chozen, Daniel, and Johnny to take down in the finale?
Yes! And I love that he adapted Silver's teachings to his own technique. He didn't try to break his legs or crush his sternum or break his nose like Silver was teaching him back in the days. He adapted.
Meh, it had a whole lot of cheese and some joke plot points, but all in all, it was definitely good. Would have liked to see more of Barnes, but I'll take what I get. Good season for sure.
I love how Daniel didn’t betray any emotion during the fight. He kept his eyes strictly on Silver, allowing himself to be two moves ahead of Silver throughout the fight. The fact that he used Silver’s lessons against him made it sweeter. Mr Miyagi would be very proud. Silver, on the other hand, clearly wasn’t used to his opponent actually being able to fight back and was thrown completely off his game. Daniel had a counter for everything and cracked the bully in the jaw with relative ease. Finishing him off with the Crane Technique was the icing on the cake. BTW: Silver had all kinds of trouble with a DRUNK Chozen and needed a sword to stop him.
Nobody is mentioning The fact he was blasted against the wall at the end with glass falling on him like when Miyagi kicked him against the wall and paint fell on him was a good callback
it's actually genius how the use the rule of "a man cant see, he cant fight." that philosophy could be interpreted in many ways. For example it someone cant physically see they cant fight. But if someone cant see and think clearly they cant fight. For example Daniel lost to Terry silver earlier because Daniel wasnt able to think or see straight because he was so blinded by rage. Daniel always wins when he is most balanced. Terry wasnt seeing straight and was unbalanced, he underestimated Daniel and let his arrogance get in the way, which a theme that happens to many characters such as Chozen in karate kid 2, Mike Barnes in the all valley and John Kresse in season 3. Mike Barnes was a better fighter than Daniel but He lets his arrogance get to his head unlike Daniel who remained balanced.
Loved this scene. Daniel learned alot of new moves. Such a great show. You can cut the chemistry with a butter knife with the cast. They play very well off of each other. Great series. Not only nostalgic but keeps you entertained.
@@barrettokarate didn’t lose bud, got a cheap shot off when chozen wasn’t looking, did you not see the entire season? plus chozen was drunk, mike and johnny also, if you actually watched you’d know if they were sober the show would’ve ended differently, get a life
Finishing it with the crane was just perfect. This was the first time Daniel has sounded and fought like Miyagi in any of the show and all of the movies.
Keep returning to this clip not just because of how awesome it is that Daniel finally beats Silver but the instrumental music is an updated version of the song that plays when Daniel wins the tournament in the first movie and has a fitting name Daniel's Moment of Truth
I think here, Daniel proved a couple things. He proved he could beat Silver and put it behind him. He also proved you can beat someone who fights dirty without fighting dirty yourself. And beating someone who fights dirty without fighting dirty yourself gives you more respect for yourself and others will respect you even more.
Not to hate Daniel, but he’s getting too much credit here for beating Terry. Terry was clearly injured, we saw him fight Chozen and do pretty well. Terry already beat Daniel when they first fought, he wasn’t injured. Daniel isn’t a dirty fighter either, but technically wasn’t he fighting dirty by using Terry’s moves here? Daniel is a great fighter, and honestly imagine how much better he’d be if he incorporated those “dirty” moves.
Daniel wasn't fighting dirty he was just fighting decisively and not holding back and disabling his opponent. It was more dirty the way he used that death move on Johnny in a tournament setting.
@@kievonJSmoothSoul Yeah honestly that’s the only time I’ve seen him fight dirty. Unless he’s insinuating that the silver bullet was a dirty fighting strategy.
The best part of this was when Daniel LaRusso ended the fight with a crane kick. I remembered how Terry Silver mocked him about it. In his own words, he said, “Do the crane, Danny boy!” And just like that, 30 years later, Daniel makes him eat those words.
It was in this scene that the student truly became the master. What Daniel was missing was the ability to use karate devoid of anger, or fear. To calm his mind and focus just as Miyagi had all those years ago. The moment he did that was the moment that he truly defeated Silver. Daniel truly earned the rank of Sensei here.
Two things... 1. Daniel beat a guy who had already been in a war. It be like your dad beating up your bully, then you swoop in and beat him also minutes later and take all the credit for kicking the bully's ass. Miyagi took on 3 guys by himself. 2. Sensei *isn't* a rank. It literally translates to "person born before another". It's just a word given to anybody who teaches anything. In Japan a kinder garden teacher is a sensei. It has no special meaning. It's only in the west where people exaggerate shit to make them seem more important to the general public. If you go to Japan and call yourself a "sensei" they'd look at you like there's something wrong with you.
@@ronishpadhy910 this person is a looser, they haven’t watched the entire thing, so they don’t know anything about the series , the fact that daniel, chozen, johnny and mike were drunk tho and all still basically won, nuts ending fr
@@barrettokarate lol you sound like a broken record literally wrote the same thing like 20 times on like 50 different comments get a life instead of being a hater or do you only enjoy on watching things you hate kinda sounds redundant to me why watch something you hate
But, you know, i think the way he applied Silver's lesson was greatly subdued. Considering it's Silver who came up with it, the application would've been more extreme and brutal than that.
@@joshuaamadeusishak1887could be also argued that it was applied subtle enough for Silver to not grasp his own method was used against him in his own words "the shortest distance to win a fight"
and that is the failure of the scene, Silver thinking grabbing a trophy to use as a weapons was a reasonable use of his combat time. That kick landed like Daniel kicking was kicking an intellectually stunted child in the face.
@@GrrrTurtle I don't think that Silver was lucid at that point. He couldn't breathe. At the point when Daniel caught his punch between his elbow and leg, it was over. Daniel had that Miyagi-do microscopic level control in defense. Silver was fighting with angry attacks against a form that thrives on disabling stupid attackers.
This is the best episode out of all 50 episodes. I have honestly NEVER seen a show like this, I knew Daniel would shine one time. I am SOOO inpatient for season 6, special thanks to the creators!
No matter how many times I watched this, can't help but be proud of Daniel-san! Daniel was calm, collected and turned the tables on Terry's ass using his own method against him. Miyagi san would be proud. Damn proud to be a KK fan, I tell you what.
Honestly season 4 was okay. I wasn't expecting a great final season, but season 5 really blew me away. I loved the mexico arc, really every character arc was fantastic besides sam breaking up Miguel again and Kenny's plot armor
@@Frostbite_Unturned imo S4 was better because there felt real competition, here cobra kai is basically on the brink of extinction after all their champions left for miyagi do,this lead to cobra kai never having anyone you'd think may stand up against the protagonists and Kenny was boosted hard with the plot armour against hawk in that fight only because cobra kai didn't have any male champions and they had to make Tory leave or else it wouldn't make sense
This was the fight in which Daniel truly became the master of his karate, he was in control of the entire fight, if silver is the embodiment of offence, Daniel was the embodiment of defence, he even blocked silver bullet, the very move that took out Hawk and weakened Robby
What most don't realize is that when Daniel focuses he takes it to a different level. He beat fighters who were all physically superior to him. Mind over muscle...
The symbolism behind that final kick is so good! Daniel using the crane kick, his most famous and deadly attack is already awesome, but Silver’s final stand is even better. He’s backed up against the wall, surrounded by the trophies that Cobra Kai “won” through cheating. He tried to use them as a weapon against Daniel, but Daniel kicked him against the wall, shattering the symbol of Cobra Kai, just like Silver shattered his reputation with his students and allies. Finally, each of his students, starting with Kenny, cover his bloodied body with their uniforms, mocking his desire to be the legacy of Cobra Kai. One of the best fights that I have ever seen.
Not only that, but Terry being kicked into glass parallels when Miyagi sent him into his dojo's mirrors back in The Karate Kid III. The same goes for the flawless victory - Miyagi wasn't touched back then, either. The effort put into this show is unreal.
@@lotus-prince @slayer angel. Also a nice rebuttal to that line Silver says in KK3 when hes training him " What, you think you can rely on that Crane crap?"
He used the move that got him his first place trophy, the trophy might’ve reminded him of that kick or he perfectly timed it for that situation(most likely)
What I really love about this Show is that they stay true to the color theme until the end. So far Daniel wore mostly blue and Johnny mostly Red. In this final and most important scene he wears purple. This resembles his fighting style so much in this scene. He combines elements of myagi-do (blue), Eagle fang (Red) and chozens additional flavour from myagi-do (Black) which equals in a dark purple! Such a nice Detail through out the Show!
Thanks for recognizing that depth. Grrowing up watching the movies, I'm distracted by the nostalgia. Great to see the writers added these layers. A great show just got even better!
One of the things I love about this fight is that Daniel was actually able to anticipate even Silver’s dirty tricks and counteract them as soon as they happened. Silver had NO chance this time around. Also loved how he got kicked into the glass cobra in the back of the room. Best symbolism I’ve seen in this show.
Silver made so many major mistakes along the way that, by the time he worked his way back up to Daniel, all of his strong suits became worthless. Chief among them was needlessly making enemies out of those he might have found useful. Burned down Mike's furniture shop, which effectively got the guy on the side of a punch-clock enemy. Chozen made him work for his last win, and by the time he went down, he had drained more than enough of Silver's energy for the main opponent to finish the job.
To be fair Silver almost got beaten by Chozen before fighting against Daniel. Although Daniel came really far and it shows because he knew this was his moment. Edit: I’m not saying that Daniel would have lost if Terry Silver didn’t get a beatdown by Chozen I’m saying that the fight wouldn’t be easy. If you rewatch the scene you could see how tired Silver is compared to Daniel. He also had support from his family, his student and his opponents so he had the upper hand. And no Daniel wasn’t drunk, the alcohol probably cooled off after a while.
@@nathansaintus9927 And Daniel was hungover. I believe the reason Daniel won is because he was actually focused, not because Silver was half-beaten already. It's more impressive when you consider that Daniel was never able to focus against Silver because of the psychological advantage Silver has always had on him. Fear does weird sht to a person.
@@nathansaintus9927 Daniel could have beat him regardless - considering he walked in calm, collected, and playing his game. More important to the flawless victory than his fight with Chozen is how utterly angry and out of control Silver was by all the events of that night. The team had done exactly as chozen said would be needed to beat the snake. They played the mind game. Silver was losing when he came in rattled. He was beaten when “his” students didn’t respond to his verbal promptings (what he told Robby about being heard and listened to). This show does a great job of showing how the mental state and motivations to fight can have huge impacts on outcomes.
It's obvious men will fight harder in front of their family and especially the wife, just human nature. Terry's mistake was calling Daniel out in front of his family. That little show of support from his wife was all he needed for a boost.
People say that Daniel won because Silver was weakened by Chozen. But even though Chozen defeated him before Silver cheated, he didn't really beat Silver down. And here, Silver is the one who challenges Daniel. And Daniel, with encouragement from Amanda, becomes balanced and focused again, so he's able to take Silver down. This victory for Daniel is valid, no matter how many say Silver would've beaten him up again if he didn't lose to or have to fight Chozen.
the people who are saying that are group of punk ass xd, chozen did not land any single critical hit against terry to put terry in a high disadvantange in this fight, is just a bullshit excuse
Thomas Ian Griffith deserves an Emmy for this season, not kidding. The way he encompassed menace, chilling evil, pathetic need and fatherly authority in various scenes was amazing. I really hope to see him in more stuff now. What a magnificent return for a totally wild 80s villain!
And the thing about it Thomas Ian Griffith was actually retired before coming back to play this role again so I don’t know but I do agree with you he’s really good actor and I believe he does deserve a reward for how great he did this season absolutely outstanding
In my opinion, I think we finally saw Daniel finally learned Mr. Miyagi’s most important lesson, that one day he will create his own style of karate. He did master the Miyagi-do teachings and he also learned the Cobra Kai teachings. The fact that Silver didn’t land a single hit on Daniel is only something Mr. Miyagi was able to do. I am very glad they used the crane kick for the final kick. Silver always told Daniel the crane kick would never work and Silver didn’t even realize what hit him. Truly the a very good season and a good ending. Can’t wait for what’s in store for season 6!!
I don't think there'll be a Season 6, or maybe there will and it'll be focused around Kreese. But who knows? It's all up to Netflix to keep it running or not.
Flawless victory. Reminiscent of how Mr. Miyagi fought Silver back in the day. Silver never landed a blow on Miyagi. Even had the glass shatter in the dojo similar to how the mirror broke at the end of the fight. Great attention to detail. Daniel Son truly fought with the spirit of Mr. Miyagi, while making a mockery of Silvers techniques. Nicely done
Yeah I agree, I like to think that Mr. Miyagi is proud of Daniel at this moment, Because Silver tried to break them both apart, but they never break from each other, also I like to think that Mr. Miyagi is smiling at Daniel with Tears in his eyes, I wish that Mr. Miyagi is still around to see Daniel at this moment, Daniel is the only son that Mr. Miyagi ever really had.
Love that Daniel using Terry's 'Quick Silver' fighting method to turns it against him! And this couldn't be more satisfied since Terry had been tried to separate Danny and Mr. Miyagi! And Danny has overcome all the trauma and pain that Terry has cause on him is just sweet, poetic justice!!👍👍👍
Daniel followed Chozens advice. He had to use his own style to beat him. So he did and finished him of with his signature kick which Silver mocked him about when he was young. This season and this ending was brilliant.
The best part is he still managed to put a Miyagi-Do twist to everything - reapplying them to control and counter rather than aggressive, dirty tactics meant to cause significant physical injury.
Haven't seen any of the Cobra Kai series, but I grew up with the movies. I have been waiting for this moment ever since the abysmal Karate Kid III movie.
I love it that Daniel doesnt say almost anything. Terry monologues to irritate him but it doesn't work this time. He says 2 sentences, big smile in his eyes and proceeds to kick his ass with no damage. Just like Miyagi, minus the smile of course. "The roots are strong, so the tree will survive"
This is an underrated comment because people reference the first fight from earlier in the season where Terry won and say it's unrealistic how Daniel beat him so easily not long after. But if you compare the two, in the first fight Daniel was the aggressor. He was pushing the fight and Terry was countering him for it because he knows how to handle aggression, it's his style. In this fight Daniel let Terry lead and used Miyagi-Do mixed with a little Quicksilver to win the fight, it was Daniel going back to his roots and using the style that made him who he is to win.
@SouthpawHeat16 not to mention Daniel's training from Johnny also helped him here. Daniel combined everything to beat him down. And he destroyed cobra kai like he did all those years ago.
THIS! I said the same - all of his experiences and training brought him full circle and he became Miyagi in this scene - he's now a true karate master - Terry never stood a chance.
This really felt like a series finale, I can’t imagine what they will do next. But I’ve said the same thing for the last 5 seasons and here we are. I love this show.
Bro what? How the hell did it feel like a series finale? There are so many unfinished storylines and it literally ended on a cliffhanger. Not to mention the sekai taikai tournament.
I love how, at 1:50, Kim Da-Eun (I call her Dragon Lady) is just watching the fight, and thinking, "I allied with THIS guy? LOSER!!!" Also, at 0:26, when Amanda says "Do What You Have To Do.......", she was really saying "END HIM!!!"
This is how you do a show. No BS, no fluff, no trying to Disney it and just make something to make something. Just in your face kick ass television with real throwbacks to the original characters and authenticity. I love how they let the adults play a vital role this season as the kids mostly took a back seat. Great change of pace. Really flushing out the grownups with some great story arcs.
What's even better, is the politics in the show get laughed at and made fun of. No matter what side, which is the way you should handle politics for an entertainment show.
The best thing about this scene is that Daniel uses both forms of karate styles, Myagi and Quick Silver to take Terry down. It’s a fun symbolic way to show Daniel doesn’t let his emotions and pride change who he truly is. He fights by the book without fighting dirty.
Something a lot of people are missing is that Daniel has been scared of Silver and everything he did to him and taught him since the very first season. Daniel has never truly put what happened in Karate Kid 3 behind him and it shows throughout the series, sometimes blatantly and sometimes subtly. This is when he finally lays the demons of his past to rest once and for all, by defeating the monster that's been following him for all these years with his own tactics. Just brilliant.
Daniel's beef was never fully with Johnny it was always with Silver and a smaller extent Kreese those two tramuatized him he was a teenager and they basically wanted to kill him
Lmao 🤣 have y'all not seen the movie's or shows? Daniel has always had quarrels with David and has always been bullied. He's been over Silver. Over the years he's gotten stronger learning new techniques after Miyagi was gone. Stop it! ✋️ You're reading deep into it while skipping the basics. 🙄
@@younglove3362did you not watch the show Daniel is clearly traumatized with what silver did to him as a teenager the man literally tortured and manipulated him psychologically
This might be my favorite fight in the series based on the symbolism and parallels. Daniel taking what Silver once taught him, and throwing it back in his face. He also used the screaming eagle, which shows he's willing to use Johnny's techniques at a moments notice. Just like the legendary Mr Miyagi; he didn't take a hit the entire fight, further humiliating Silver. The kids throw their shirts down at Silver, just like in KK3 when Daniel beat Mike. Terry mocked the crane kick numerous times, only to have it be the final blow. The irony that he once said Daniel couldn't rely on it. Just like Mr Miyagi, Daniel knocked Silver into the glass behind him. Silver taught Daniel those techniques under the idea of "doing some real damage", yet Daniel manages to control them here, and not do excessive damage to Silver. And of course, Silver once had the obsession of making Daniel bleed, yet there he was with blood running down his own face. Probably the most poetic fight in the entire series, and a great way of "show don't tell"
Couldn't have put it any better. Just shows how the Karate Kid Movies and Cobra Kai series never fail to impress. This scene and so many other scenes in S5 were just epic to watch. Cobra Kai by far is the best series Ive watched.
That fight was well over 30 years in the making, Daniel had let that fire rage inside for a LONG time without telling anyone & Mr Miyagi is proud of his Daniel San
I like how Terry's 'Silver Bullet' has been wrecking everyone all season, but Daniel caught it at 1:48 which is totally something Mr. Miyagi would have done.
It's one of Terry Silver's signature moves, designed to disable an opponent by knocking the wind out of them and making them temporarily unable to breathe. He taught it to a few Cobra Kai students, for example Kenny used it on Hawk and it ended the fight because Hawk couldn't get up. I think what they were going for was if Terry himself had landed it on Daniel then Daniel would have been down for the count too, but he beat it.
