Technically it was a tie MIKE however did knock JOHNNY down first just because Mike said you win to JOHNNY doesn't meant he actually won don't get me wrong JOHNNY is badass. but MIKE BARNES IS BUILT DIFFERENT JOHNNY couldn't beatMIKE while on OFFENSE so he used defense that's why he was able to knock down MIKE but if they kept fighting only using OFFENSE MIKE WOULD DEFINITELY OUTMATCH JOHNNY EVERY TIME
@@CalebMcdaniel-os9snexactly and not to mention Johnny was playing favorites here stepping on Mike toes I mean Mike is a national champion he knows what he is doing Mike >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> dummy Lawrence
Barnes was winning until Johnny incorporated Miagi Do. It shows Johnny’s development in the series and him finding balance to the point he can overcome Cobra Kai’s most aggressive student. That might also be the key for his students
Would barns really count as a cobra kai student. Sure he got some training in kk3 but he was already a national champion before he got involved with silver. He got a bulk of his training somewhere else.
true but he still is a part of cobra kai and there are two reasons he lost he thought Johnny was another Daniel and thought intimidation would work on him then fuck around and found out and second wasn't ready for johnny to use miyagi do
@CalebMcdaniel-os9sn nah real reason why he lost is he is super rusty. The other adult characters have surpassed him. He only just got back into karate after kk3 while johnny has been training again for over 2 years now at this point. He also might not wanted to take the fight to far as he was more concerned about not getting killed by work shop tools and johnny broke the table he was building which is mike's main form of income.
He ran his mouth calling his karate a joke like he did Daniel in kk3. Instead of laying there like a pussy, Johnny kicked the shit out of him. That’s my guy
The fact that Mike Barnes conceded defeat humbly and with respect toward Johnny at the end shows impressive character development within him. I suspect Mike could have easily fought on, but he didn't want his workshop *also* destroyed in the process after already having lost his entire furniture store, so he turned down his ego and used his brain.
I also liked how Johnny graciously accepted the concession and didn't press the issue, even extending Mike some empathy when Mike expressed his recent troubles. I get the feeling that this might be the beginning of a beautiful bromance between these bad boys.
I suspect the reason Barnes didn't want to fight on is because his back was towards multiple saws and other dangerous machinery Johnny Lawrence was not aware of. Barnes did not want to risk losing an arm or dying in this dangerous environment. We saw Barnes win the first round. That says something special. The score is still only 1-1.
@michaelzoran johnny won the fight. Barnes conceded, but that was only after he started using Miyagi Do blocks against Mike. It confused Mike and it left an opening for Johnny. He was losing before that.
@@270yis7I mean it's not really shocking they would get along. Mike is basically a more skilled and smarter version of Dutch. He and Johnny probably would've hung out back in the 80's.
@@afranks8566 Mike Barnes is more skilled and more smart than Dutch, and while Mike has a temper, he's *definitely* not a sociopath or psychopath. Dutch, on the other hand... An interesting question is: If Johnny and Mike had hung out in the 80s, which one would have been the "alpha" of their gang?
Well MIKE was OFFENSE but as he said to Daniel there's nothing you got I can't counter and like every martial art has some form of Defense like boxing and karate boxing is offense but it focused on defense and counter attack karate focuses on counter attacks but it has offense
I also have another statement to make there are different ways OFFENSE AND DEFENSE MIKE said there is nothing you got that I can't COUNTER so that means that while MIKE IS PURE OFFENSE he can still COUNTER ATTACK AND COUNTER ATTACKING IS A FORM OF DEFENSE WITNESS THE POWER OF COLD AGGRESSION
@@CalebMcdaniel-os9sndude, calm down with the caps… You must have a brain, please learn to not act like caveman using a keyboard for the first time 😂😂😂
Well Johnny's been training for 2 Years even learning Miyagi Do while Mike's rusty barely getting back into Karate, That Miyagi Do Defense won Johnny the Fight he would've otherwise lost.
To me, one of the most memorable lines in Karate Kid was at the tournament when the guy yells "Johnny your a creampuff" When Mike called him that, I thought, wow, a line from the original movie.
That line of "Johnny, you're a cream puff" come from Karate Kid 1 when someone from the audience shouted that insult while Johnny's nose was bleeding. The person in the audience shouted that line just before we heard John Kreese speak the legendary words, "Sweep the Leg!"
@@bryansteele832 i mean, i guess they could've found a better reason for them to fight... but they needed to cram everything (a lot of story) into 15 episodes. Had they made 7 seasons, instead of 6, maybe they could've done something more organic... and a growing tension between Johnny and Barnes.
@@MGillDesign I would actually like a Spinoff Series involving Mike Barnes going through the Struggle of reopening his Business as well as him and Johnny starting a Rivalry to see who's the real Bad Boy of Karate while Daniel's not involved as he's in China and focusing on his Car Business while Johnny's teaching Karate for a Living while Mike Barnes decides to get back into his Passion for Karate starting his own Dojo.
Johnny is better than ever and has embraced miyagi do to combine it with his style while Mike being a terror of a martial artist hasn’t trained much over the years great fight nonetheless Johnny only gets better
ACTUALLY there is a REASON they FOUGHT MIKE was looking for one he was taunting and antagonizing JOHNNY on PURPOSE AND JOHNNY wanted DEVON to earn a spot in the SEKAI TEIKA then BOILING POINT reached over and they FOUGHT
In Karate Kid 1 while Johnny Lawrence had a bloody nose that was being inspected by Sensei John Kreese, a person in the audience shouted, "JOHNNY! YOU'RE A CREAM PUFF!" It's no surprise to see Barnes call Johnny a cream puff.
Would've been hilarious if Barnes broke out the "Nice kick...Not bad...Better...Good but not good enough!" while smiling, like he did in the bonsai shop fight in KK3.
Man I wish the creators would have had mike Barnes have a son in the show and competed in the all valley. It would be interesting and he would be just like him and sort of look like him.
I think with the way Miyagi Fang is having tension with each other, Daniel and Johnny fighting again, Miguel and Robby getting egotistical over the captain position, all that, it seems like Johnny and Mike could've had issues against Daniel and Chozen. Remember Chozen and Johnny almost fought and Mike hated Daniel questioning Mike's aggressive qualifying way. It would've been a heck of a 2vs2 battle with them
In their youths in their youths, Barnes would have mopped the floor with Johnny. Johnny needed that Miyagi Do because he was never going to out aggresion Barnes
Johnny sure used Miyagi Do in the fight with Mike Barnes, DIDN'T he?! Wow, and he showed he was more powerful in that fight, even though we did get to hear Barnes say his iconic line, "Your karate's a joke" once more. And it shows that with Daniel quite unbalanced, he will need to have Johnny take over with the teaching more. Applause and thank you.
Barnes could have taken him but found the fight pointless and didn't want to risk losing his business again. But I bet after the fight he would belatedly charge Johnny extra like what he did with Chozen as he would most likely need new furniture after he buys a house to start a new family life.
Nahhhh, I don’t think that’s the case. The only reason Johnny beat barnes is because barnes hasn’t trained in years and got banned from karate while Johnny started training different styles. If barnes still trained, he wlda low diffed Johnny
Barnes must have been thinking, "At least the lazy writing of the writers made me lose to some respectable moves. In comparison, the lazy writing of the writers made Chozen lose to some stupid move associated with a music instrument.'"
Yeah but they took a long time off and it’s been many decades later and Johnny has been the more active one and he has had much time to blend two styles, and diversity his game. It seemed that Mike was winning offensively at first but at the end he was defeated by Miyagi Do techniques yet again for the third time.
But in reality, Mike Barnes was the real winner of 85 by a HUGE margin. If Terry Silver had not told Barnes to use that dumb strategy of, "First you get a point, then you lose a point," followed by "Taking it to overtime," we would have seen Mike Barnes easily win 3-0.
I know they were really mad, but you'd think they were juuust level-headed enough to be like "hey let's turn this buzzsaw off, I don''t like you, but I don't wanna kill you bro"
Former Cobra Kai All Valley Champion vs Former Cobra Kai National Champion. Johnny vs. Mike Barnes was a good fight indeed. I can’t stand Daniel and his arrogance and conceited ways of criticizing Johnnys and Barnes ways of teachings.
I hope Mike and Chozen show up again later in the season. I'd hate for Mike's appearance to just be evaluating/choosing the Sekai Taikai participants, and I know Chozen returned to Okinawa, but maybe some closure with him and Kumiko getting together?
I really enjoyed this fight but I also wanna point out the reason why Barnes lost the fight 1. Johnny has been training for 5 to 6 seasons non stop and has learned Miyagi do which was what helped him gain the upper hand. Mike on the other hand hasn't trained since the events of kk3 so he was just starting to untrust himself after season 5. The fact that he managed to put up a good fight shows how much potential he has if he kept training. 2. Mike was being cocky as the whole time, when he got the upper hand he really could have finished him off from there but his over confidence got in the way as he trash talked and got interrupted by Johnny. Overall, if Mike wasn't being overconfident then he might of won or the fight could have played out longer and more differently. But I still really enjoyed it and not of them are badass fighters. Hopefully we see more of mike in part 2 and 3.
Ah, the battle of the bullies. (Well former bullies, anyway). I always assumed they'd have fought in kk3. But this also works. "Your karate is a joke!" "Who told you that?"
Mike was winning until Johnny used Miyagi Do. In the 80s, it’s a given, Mike would have killed him instantly, but now, unfortunately Johnny is the winner.
@@cloudyeyes5507 because not only has Johnny been training for 2 Years but also learned Miyagi Do while Mike is still rusty barely getting back into Karate.
Yeah but they took a long time off and it’s been many decades later and Johnny has been the more active one and he has had much time to blend two styles, and diversity his game. It seemed that Mike was winning offensively at first but at the end he was defeated by Miyagi Do techniques yet again for the third time.
@Brandon-up7sgstfu, Devon is good and Mike was clearly being biased towards her so Johnny came to ask him to give her a chance… Mike decided to measure dicks and found out his isn’t as massive as he thought
I love Cobra Kai so much. The Creators give the fans everything they want. "Want to know who would win between Johnny and Mike? Here you go! Want to see Terry Silver back? Here you go! Want to see Terry Silver fight Chozen? Here you go! Want to see Daniel fight Terry Silver? Here you go!" The newer, younger characters are all great and fun, and it's been a blast seeing them grow and change over the years. Where the Star Wars sequels completely dropped the ball (we don't even get to see all the surviving original cast back together again for at least one shot!) Cobra Kai took the ball and blasted off into space with it. I wish nothing but the best for the cast and crew and hope they find even greater success once Cobra Kai is over.
People saying Mike should have won Yes.. I agree.... if he has been fighting all these years When he came back, he clearly talked about his father-in-law and his transformation. Johnny been fighting all these years + been training kids. Of course he will have the edge.
Muy buena la pelea, pero podrían haber puesto un doble de riesgo más parecido a Mike.. en cada cambio de cámara que se lo ve de espalda se nota claramente la diferencia entre el actor y el doble
They didn’t finish the fight Mike Barnes just stopped. I say mike was winning until Johnny used Miyagi do. Mike isn’t as active as Johnny so it’s all perspective who won great scene
I love the Cobra Kai series. However, the biggest respect Mike Barnes is 57 and Johnny is 58. These guys are awesome. Daniel, Terry, Johnny, Chozen, and Mike ......Let's face it if their skills and youthful appearance were not there, this all would not work. This is the best series ever!!
Yes... the actors are still recognizable... that's why this show works. John Kreese, still looks like John Kreese... Daniel still looks like Daniel... props to all the actors for taking care of themselves, and staying in shape (and good genetics doesn't hurt, either)
What I wanna know is how many of You caught the nod right here to the part where Johnny’s nose is bleeding and told to go to His sensei and You hear some random in the crowd say “HEY, JOHNNY, YOU’RE A CREAM PUFF!” That term was most definitely chosen purposely here…unless they want to really get ridiculous with the story and say that was Barnes in the stands Lol
Barnes is better than all the rest when in shape. The creators need to write a better script for barnes hé is one of the best fighters in the whole series👊🏻
