I like how you let everyone on your channel know you're a giant hunk of human garbage by calling being a boomer "based". You've manage to combine the two dumbest mindsets that currently exist - very old Americans, and very young Americans.
Opium?arming farmers during the 80s ? Or the fact that u.s soilders lost?( don't forget all the ones that committed suicide because Afghanis had nothing to do with 9/11.)
@@quilliamattari2772 yeah that shit was stupid butcher could of explained to the kid and soldier boy and then homelander would be dead but nooo all we got was seeing Maeve fuck off like anyone cares.
@@Hokum6he was similar to american psyco. People who liked him have some serious problems... But the character was very well made. U could see another homelander in him
@@hbt739 I think there's some deep current subtext from the writers, dunno if it's my imagination. SB does fucked up things, believes fucked up things, but still he has morality besides 'I am a God because no one can touch me'. I feel this is a commentary on the state of modern politics. politicians kinda used to suck, but they REALLY suck today.
Funny thing is, Soldier Boy isn’t a Boomer. He’s part of "The Greatest Generation", which is the generation that gave birth to most of the Boomers after serving in WW2. In other words, he’s not a boomer, he’s a SUPER boomer.
@@Whiffs I want to join he just work up and it's only been like a week walking around blowing shit up but yes by the time he went to sleep he was around boomers so he picked up on how they act like vampires or any other immortal you grow with the times
@@HelloWorld-ti2zp I think you're assuming that he would be an average guy from that time period. Steve Rogers grew up in NYC as a poor, very sick kid at the height of eugenics being the popular thing. His views on people who were viewed as "inferior" might not be what you think. And at least in some versions of his story, he says that he doesn't hate or want to go off members of the predominant German political group at the time, and that he just didn't like bullies. Coming from a time when morally wrong views are commonplace does not mean one is necessarily going to hold said views. An average person from that time period will probably think like that. But the point of this particular character was always that he is a good man first, and a soldier second. Now if something like the super soldier serum was real, including amplifying a person's innate traits? Most people from any period of history taking that would scare me. But no, just being from that time period doesn't mean he would automatically be a bigot.
Until SB said this I never really thought about what a cape portrays - just someone flying through the air. Why would you want a cape, unless you need it. it just gets in the way or caught on something.
I loved how soldier boy said he doesn't have shell shock too I'm just wondering how he knew what PTSD was even referring to, he's never heard of the internet but he knew exactly what PTSD stood for even though that's not a phrase that was used when he got captured
@@choshow86 true that. I think it was the way he was using the word to kinda say he's nuts a bit because of the situation it was used in. He's a soldier so instantly thought he was calling him shell shocked my opinion
He isn't really though? Of all the characters in The Boys, SB probably is one of the "good" ones. He may be a complete caricature of toxic masculinity, a drug addict, a bit of a chauvanist and violent, but compared to the rest, he's a saint. He's arguably a better person than Billy.
@@SSD_Penumbra He wrecked a car into Mother's Milk's home and instead of saving anyone he let them all die. Also most of the things he's bragging about are supposed to clue you in to the fact that he's no better than the current superheroes. Not to mention he essentially killed Black Noir just for speaking out against him.
@@FredrickTesla Again, compared to literally every other supe barring maybe Starlight, he's a saint. Look at Homelander, for example. Man kills for fun, goes off on a rant about how much better he is, straight up rapes people and not to mention the myriad of other creepy stuff he does. He didn't save MM's family because he had a mission to complete, and he didn't kill BN for that reason. He killed him because they all turned against HIM. When he found out, he fought them, managing to beat BN almost to death before the rest managed to get him. He was betrayed by them, not the other way around. That mirrors how Homelander betrays BN too.
The fact that Soldier Boy founded herogasm with Liberty (stormfront) completely flew over my head on my first viewing. Completely forgot that she was Liberty
I love when Hughie gets the courage to call out Soldier Boy and gets punched right back to reality. Hung out with Butcher too long and thought he could mouth off to anyone without consequence.
props to soldier boy for showing restrain as he only gave hugie the softest slap he would have ever given to anyone. If it his was homelander he would have simply wiped Hugie off the face of earth with his lasers
It’s so crazy how the show tried to compare his morality at all to Homelander. Not once did SB at all make any attempt to go out of his way to kill people, or commit genocide. If the Boys left him alone, and he didn’t have the Shell-shock attacks, the world would be fine with him doing whatever.
He has more integrity than anyone in Vought or the Seven, with the very arguable exception being Starlight. Even then he showed more remorse for his accidental civvie kills than she did when murdeing some random dude for his car
Whats really amazing is how they built up Soldier Boys paranoia before the nun and preist scene. To where you're not sure if it is his paranoia or if he's being honest. Masterclass in setting the scene.
He and Jared and Misha all intentionally lowered their voices and actually wound up permanently lowering their voice registers. That can happen after 15 years speaking that way
Damn guess the concept of love is just non existent to yall. Yeah it’s not based to raise someone else’s kid. But that doesn’t matter if you love the kids mother which is what butcher did.
I like how solider boy is pretty much captain America but is more accurate to the real world. Him seeing a gay couple especially both black and white would have him confused
I'm surprised at how no-one mentioned how dangerous mindstorm actually is. If you look into his eyes it's basically game over for you no matter who you are
It seems some supes can fight it off a bit like when they took down SB mindform looked in his eyes but was struggling to shut him off and they ahd to sleep him with the novachoc.
@@unkownboi67is_unavailable62 To me that doesnt really make sense. It could only mean that SB has the ultimate mental resistance which doesnt make sense since you could see how fucked up his mind is. TLDR; He shouls be able to shutdown SB like any others because it's not a physical fight.
@@TheCaptainnoU maybe but in the flshback it was clear SB didn’t get shut off directly, maybe SBs mind is already so fucked up that he can somewhat fend it off for a bit
Soldier Boy was the best part of this season. I really hope he doesn't get wasted. His character has so much potential to take the show forward. Also, I want to see him wreck the shit out of A-Train and the Deep.
I do think he comes back, that’s why he got frozen again and not killed. Also it’s Jensen ackles, who is best friends with the producers. They certainly won’t waste him
@@ma-saracendude you need to get your head checked. Huey is normal and soldier boy is the toxic past that was too afraid to show or talk about how he really felt.
this is what beeing a man looks like. if you mastered your looks, honed your skills and read at least 10 books you are powerefull. you can do anything you want. whitin reason ofc. others want to bind you because they are jealous, but fuck them. if you truly achieved beeing a prime male, you can't be binded. you don't have to let them win. you can chose to be a winner.
The "I don't have shellshock" line is genius on so many levels. He shouldn't know what PTSD stands for, but he deduces it from context. He literally admits that he DOES have shellshock by saying that.
he was the best of the season, they have to bring him back, Jensen is such a good actor than even SB being an asshole, we all still wish a redemption arc for him
Jensen Ackles plays a belligerent cocky gung ho gramps SO FUCKING WELL it literally nearly ruins the show, but just dances on the line. It’s pure glory.
Bruh he was the best part of s3 imo, the one that's like nearly ruining the show was Butcher double crossing SB when he's fulfilling his end of the bargain
Nearly ruining the show? How? He’s literally the best character in S3, what nearly ruins the show is the abysmal writing in S3 trying to make SoldierBoy a villain when Homelander is 20x worse.
@@TrendTrove171 yeah, arbys is so bad that we shouldn’t even talk about how bad Burger King is. More then one person can be a bad person, it’s not all good vs evil, that’s just life.
Yeah, it kinda hurt to see everyone fighting him at the end. He’s not a good person by any means but not nearly as terrible or a threat as everyone was making him out to be, especially Starlight and MM. Both of them were more concerned about taking down Soldier Boy than Homelander.
Well, hiring one of the most charismatic actors out there and then expecting viewers to hate him was a possible wrong move. And yeah, Mother's Milk calling him a racist piece of shit came out of nowhere. He didn't say a single racist thing whole season like the writers forgot to add that, so they had that line so we remember we are suppose to root for the boys. If he was racist would he hang out with Bill Cosby? Yeah, that has a different set of bad to it, but obviously not racism. Also, he kept his word to Butcher making him the only man of his words on the show.
@@blackwolf4766 why would they bring him back? he doesnt like homelander, and got in a fight with everyone from The Boys, there is no reason they would wake him up next season after the big fight that just happened at the end of season 3
he nearly walked away with this show. the dudebro soap opera that is supernatural makes it very easy to overlook how natural and charismatic and genuinely good ackles is. id love to see him in more stuff. hopefully more of this show.
One of most clever lines from soilder boy is after Hughie tells him he has PTSD, he responds by saying "I dont have shellshock, fuck you." Its because PTSD was not even discovered as a condition yet in the WW2 era. So to him Hughie is just making things up because he doesn't understand WAR.
It was a better way of saying Soldier Boy got raped like he did in the comics but more so in a manner that wouldn’t cause complaints against the audience
I like how Soldier Boy is technically the hero of season 3 cos he kept his word and went after the bad guy...everyone else was running in circles and acting like a nut
I had literal 0 expectations for Soldier Boy as a character but holy shit he steals the show everytime he is on screen. His cover on Rapture and his quotes made him instantly my favorite character
@@mkultra2456 Too clarify, I used literal because I never watched Jensen prior to him being on the Boys and knowing him only from Supernatural, I only imagined him as the guy playing that one guy for nearly 2 decades and bring that to the show so my expectations were literally zero, very low if I am being generous but yeah Jensen proved me wrong and I’m eating my words figuratively ;)
They better bring him back, he has a PERFECT comedic back and forth with the entire cast (except MM for obvious reasons) and honestly deserves a redemption arc. Not a good guy by any means, but he at least has guts.
Soldier boy was the only one doing the right thing in the last episode, else everyone just ruined the plan. Butcher shouldn't have betrayed him, all he had to do was to take Ryan away.
Tbf, Soldier Boy is just a different brand of Homelanders "psycho". Even if they did manage to kill Homelander, they'd still have to kill Soldier Boy. The man is a menace and a walking crime against humanity.
@@Happyfoam-lw3yt is he though? Honestly he's really more of just an asshole with PTSD than a psycho. I feel like as long as he has a mission he can get behind he wouldn't really be as much of a problem. When Payback captured him, he was the Only one of the supes there that was actually fighting the enemy instead of killing their friendlies.
Well we already know he was an asshole before. I think the idea of a spin off after this would make more sense. They have little bits in the show that made soldier boy seem like he could be redeemable at least to a certain extent. He appeared to be remorseful about hurting those innocent people, he seemed confused about why his team would betray him, and somewhat hurt about his old man and his relationship when he was telling butcher about it. So that’s all good stuff that could be used to make his arc take a turn for good if he was to see the evil in his ways.
If they were trying to make this dude unlikeable, they shouldn’t have spent 3 seasons making EVERYONE ELSE unlikeable. After watching most of the other characters do absolutely deplorable things in the name of their own justice, they look like hypocrites for condemning Soldier Boy for anything.
mindstorm is the biggest threat to everyone. he’s too strong. he had to die, otherwise homelander wouldn’t even be a threat anymore. really i don’t get why they didn’t at least mention that possibility
@@quanicle101 i mean mindstorm did his trick on SB during noirs reenactment and it didn't really work so it probably wouldn't work on Homelander either
@@MarioFsx it definitely worked a little bit. it gave them an opening to slap the novichok on his face. even if mindstorm can’t put homelander in a coma, he can at least scramble his brain a bit and give everyone else an opening to beat his ass to death, which seems like it may be possible now since we know he can be injured
Soilder Boy is a great twist on what Captain America's story was. Instead of being stuck in ice for decades, thawing out in the modern day. Soilder was given to Russian for testing, being locked up for decades.
4:28 "Hey if your gonna act hysterical im gonna slap you like im Connery." Shit had me 🪦 RIP 007 (His version of Bond would be cancled so fast these days)
Best scenes in the season. They were so polarising and funny. It was the fact that soldier boy thinking his mannerisms were fucking normal that got me tho
I disagree. His will is weak. He indulges himself at every turn, can’t restrain his need for revenge and has an inferiority complex. He always needs to prove he is strong, even when he is the strongest person in the room. No better then a child always looking for approval. The reason why Mindstorm couldn’t bring him down was because of the abuse that he inflicted on every member of his team. Guy literally tried to control them using fear and wondered why they betrayed him. It was fear that prevented Mindstorm from finishing him off because he couldn’t concentrate. It would be similar to a child standing up to an abusive father. There is still the memory of abuse and that memory has a strangle hold on a persons confidence.
I agree and disagree. These old hard mindsets do get shit done better when its a simple hard situation. But once it comes to more complex longterm things that rely on cooperation they only get in the way
soldier boy is probably few superheroes that actually done a proper army training. stan edgar made a clear point about no matter how great the superpower, it means nothing if the person is not combat ready, follow order and mentaly prepared.
Soldier boy as a cocky ride or die style gramps from an entire different generation is an incredibly interesting character. The actor plays him so well, and his voice is just perfect and the writing is so good 😂
