Cobra RAD 480i Review  

Sometimes if you are near a cop and it does not go off it’s because the cop does not have their radar actively on.

Spectre is for detecting police radar detector detectors. These are only used in areas where radar detectors are prohibited like DC and VA

I paid for my $50 Cobra 6 years ago, in that time frame its saved my ass 500+ times only failed me once, but he was using some type of li dar I could not pick up.

I recently picked up this detector at best buy for $149 to replace my old $70 whistler that went off constantly. I had heard good reviews for it since they were purchased by Escort. On its own it does a great job of filtering out blind spot and collision sensors and has great range. However, connecting it to Cobra iRadar app drastically ups the functionality. Once you connect to the app, you get GPS lockouts (the unit does not have GPS built in), speed related muting, and wayz like functionality.

You should edit your videos to where your more concise and less pausing. You should edit it to where you get to the point. Too many uhhhs and umms..

Just picked mine up today, my buddy hads the 450. I didn't realize that 480i was newer when I purchased as I went off of looks but happy with the purchase. Great video explaining the use of the buttons and menus. I will be turning on quite drove next time I'm out on the road

I’ve been using the 480i since it came out this year. I find it to be a little more sensitive than the 450. Great little device for a fraction of what other detectors cost.

I'm using this radar detector in Africa and it's crap, it doesn't detect laser, nor fixed camera radars. I wonder if it's a defective one, any suggestions please? I've tried all settings, that's why I think it's crap

Can you turn off specific radio waves with the 480i like you can with the 450?

Why do people do these one hand reviews. Have the person next to you film it. Don't try and do both ruins the whole review. All in all it was a nice review but could have been better with other person filming.

Don’t waste your money I bought one and intentionally tried to get it to go off with cops that was running radar and it was quite and didn’t make a sound but then when there’s nothing around it won’t shut up

I bought this and drove around to test it out. It keeps on showing this line going back and forth on the screen. I literally passed 4 cops and it didn't show anything. Did I miss a step?

You also would have no way of knowing if it was a 4 or a v8 with the thinn beeping and your windows up. Stock v8 mustang GT exhaust is super quiet unless you open the throttle

Bro I bought this last week for a 3hr trip. That thing was throwing K & Ka alerts the whole damn trip and I did not see 1 cop. The only time it was not a fake alert was when I could actually see the cop on the shoulder of the road at the same time the detector went off. So I’m returning mine and looking for another.

Just a general question....do I have to have the cobra radar app open and running in order for the actual radar detector to work? Or can I just plug it in and leave app closed on my iPhone? Thx

Cobra is owned by Escort and the only Cobra radar detector I would consider owning is the Cobra DualPro 360. Uniden R3 is much better both in performance and filtering.

It’s gotta be one of the worst detectors I have owned. It constantly false alerted to KA band from Honda CRV’s and automatic doors. I turned K band off and it would false KA band with a ghz of around 34.55 for automatic doors when those automatic doors use K band. It would CONSTANTLY false KA band while driving, and the range was horrible. If you’re looking for a legitimate hood detector, Uniden R series is the way to go, little bit more expensive but not by much. Pick up a Uniden R3.

Just got from Amazon. Returning it because too much unnecessary alerts and the device got too hot while sitting on my cup holder never mounted on my dash or windshield. That was a concern for me made me think l need a fire extinguisher too.
