@@graze1177 Personally, I think it gives some flexibility and that is worth giving up a 19 shot rocket pod. You don’t have to give up all four pods. If you use the custom load out, you only have to give up a single 19 shot pod. You’re trading 19 rockets for a 20mm with a bunch of ammo, (950 rounds). You’ve still got 57 rockets, and 2 40mm launchers with 300 40mm rounds per gun (600 rounds total). I think giving up 19 rockets for 950 rounds of 20mm from a high rate of fire cannon is a great trade off. I’ve been able to take on other helis and other aircraft with that 20mm. Something that while possible with the rockets, is much harder to do. The 20mm at 8.0 can pen almost every vehicle at or below 8.0 BR as well.
@@graze1177 Not that I’m aware. You can fly it at the start of the match configured like that. I don’t often start with the cobra but you can with the 20mm. Something else to consider is the PVE battle with the helis. The 20mm is great for knocking out aircraft in those battles as well.
Well no, considering the f111 and strike eagles had the most kills in desert storm, the primary strategy was precision strikes. The second strategy is the lead one and it’s hilarious that we have both in ample supply
This is actually only a fraction as powerful as it initially was. It shot probably 8x the rate of fire. You were out of ammo in about 4-5 seconds. No tracers though but it didn’t matter as it would spray everywhere with such a volume of bullets it would destroy everything.
He was using it pretty much the entire time actually. It was firing at the same time as the 20mm and its whats causing most of the explosions you're seeing near the targets as well as most of the damage. The CNN and AG ammo markers both go down at the same time whenever he fires, meaning he's firing the 40mm and the 20mm.
This was the most Unbalanced thing ever Introduced Officially into Arma 3. In SOG PF(Mikeforce) that Cannon on "Fuller Auto" genuinely lagged the entire server for whole seconds whenever a skilled Pilor started pulping targets. As an Ex-Moderator for the Mike Force Friends server in 21' I can tell you that it's just as effective as it looks. And we had to limit it's use greatly to only be available on very "Open" AOs. Cause if you couldn't Perfectly PID then all it took was a finger slip and you burned an entire 14-man Recon Team to Cinders and Ash. Yes it works even better on VC.
@@vaitomanocu5562 in comparison to somthing like the Huey Hornets (Door gun M134 miniguns and 14 Light missiles) the Cobra is nuts. And it scales directly proportionally with the skill of the Pilot. I've seen OH-6 Cayuses mounted with 40mms score 70+ kills in one life while dancing around DDSHks and RPKs. And I've seen dumbasses run headfirst from Server-Open to the Cobra and wreck it in 8 minutes flat. No no. I mean. You could fly in 3 F4 Phantoms and have them all drop 16x 750 on a position and for like half a second the server would hitch and then it'd all be over in a big BOOM. No if someone used the Chico the Gunfighter or the 20mm Cobra and really started to "Let Er Rip" in a server hosting more than about 16-17 people the server would begin to have horrible stutters for the duration of the onslaught of fire. The only thing harder on the server was Napalm Bombs. Which were 200x worse and took almost entire half minutes to stop stuttering... But so long as the Pilot just tapped the fire, shooting only like 25 shots at the target instead of drawling a 50ft squiggly line of death? Yeah it wasnt so bad. But people (rightfully so) loved the display of tracers and fireworks none the less. Arma 3 is fun at 240FPS and 24FPS!
Really on the fence when it comes to the cobra. It’s a joy to fly and packs a punch, however it is completely outdated (and as much as I hate to admit it, outclassed) at its br, as radar guided spaa and roof mgs make short work of it.
Initially thought the gun's misleading in the thumbnail. I was wrong. Never knew that cobras have that gun set-up. And nothing's more American than having an American flag painted on the whole tail... And a freakin Vulcan strapped on the side showering everyone with lead & making a bad day out of them
