John was doing a thing. He can convert miles to kilometers, then to meters, then to feet. 2 > 3.2 > 3200 > 10560-ish I think, so I have it paused, but I think it's 560 so let me see.... Oh it doesn't even... Well shit. Okay I looked it up and that is it. Don't know why the internet is telling me it's exactly 10560 since I thought I was using rough conversions not exact ones but okay.

+LoniVanBuni It makes so much more sense, yes, but the measurements have been engraved in our heads and it's difficult (at least for me) to judge distance based on metric units. If someone told me something was, say, 3 decimeters. I could math it out in my head but couldn't really visualize it. But if you say like 18 yards I can visualize that more. So it's kinda too late to turn back now.

I think it's even more hilarious considering you can basically figure out the question through math if you know it's like five-thousand something. Think about it. They don't just randomly throw in answers for no reason, and a lot of the time they throw in two "obviously" wrong answers to make the player more confident, which leaves us with one wrong answer, and the right one. I put "obviously" in quotes because you usually at least have to know the right thing about the question to be able to rule out two answers. So what would be the reasoning about the wrong answer? Well, it would have to be something that jogs the player's mind, so that they falsely think "Oh, THAT'S the answer!" and fuck up. If they already know that it's "five thousand and something", then they would see one of the numbers, and have a strong predisposition to that answer due to it being that "something". So what number would that be? Well, the answer is "What, added to ten thousand, equals two 'five-thousand somethings'?", so that number would have to be a number which would result in one of the *other* answers when multiplied by two. Once you understand this, you can just do the math and get the answer.

Mile is not exclusively imperial. There are metric miles, too.

I'm from Denver... so... watching them trying to figure out how many feet are in a mile was goddamn torture for me.

its a lot simpler to get the answer by converting feet to metre and miles to kilometres, at least for me because i don't use the "special" metric system

In Maine we learned about the Florida panhandle. Then again, the Mainer is expected to migrate to Florida as the end of its life approaches, so as to free resources for the rest of the Mainer society.
