@@SceneArtisan Look carefully, the land shakes about the same as the car. Both shake in unison because the car has virtually no suspension so it just follows the road. The shake is explained by vibration of the camera support in relation to the car itself. As said look again
For anyone who's wondering: 1.-This is the ecuadorian tradition of "Carrera de Coches de madera" (Wooden Cars Race) that takes place in the celebrations of any city in the highlands of Ecuador (where there are a lot of hills and mountains you can go down). This one was held in the city of Alausí, but you can search and enjoy the "Coches de Madera" races from Ambato, Pimampiro, Pifo or Baños, for instance. 2.-But you might say "these cars are made of metal, you liar". Yes, because these cars belongs to the "neumatic" category. There are three categories: Traditonal (All wood body, wood wheels, no steering wheel, no bearings), Free Force (Principally made of wood but you can use a little of metal, woode wheels, steering wheel, bearings) and Neumatic (Neumatic wheels, metal body and practically anything you want except engine). 3.- The guy in the back helps as a counterweight to prevent the car from overturn in curves and pushes in flat or uphill parts of the track
That was insane!! Looks like a lot of fun but very dangerous at the same time but these guys know what they’re doing. Love the map/gauge display on the video. Super awesome! 👏🏻
Everything is dangerous. I mean just breathing can kill you. Still, on the danger level scale. This ranks up there walking upstairs on the danger scale. And a lot of people die walking up and downstairs.
@@Qardo Haha! Yes, very true but the only difference is crashing head first into a wall or flying over the mountain cliff like a drone without a camera.
Also, I gotta say you guys did SPECTACULAR job at this race! It brings such joy to me, at the other side of the world to see you race in such beautifull roads and mountains. Morning coffee is much better with you!
Also here in Italy my grandfather in the 30s before the second World War used to race with wooden cars. We are near the Alps and they had to race for few kilometers down the mountains. Big Surprise, few years before Covid our local administration has organized a remake with Cars very similar to the ones in this video. A friend of mine was in the winning couple. But these guys are very well trained (they practise bike downhill, go-kart, motocross). When my grandpa was young they were just 10 year old boys, with old wooden cars without training and protective wear or helmets.
Wow Amazing, fantastic race. You guys are awesome... First time am seeing this kind of race, spectacular. I just thought of watching for 2min... But I watched till the end and again replayed. I was so engrossed in the race as if am driving, and also I was pushing myself back and forth when you people were doing and everyone was laughing at me... Great race bro.. Keep it up... Congratulations and best wishes from India.
Good race. 16th to 5th. Showed us the importance of getting the racing line and conservation of energy. Same max speed (112) in the same spot as the last video of this race. Never trust a driver that can hit a parked car within the first 50m of a race - could have been a nightmare further down the track.
This was AWESOME!!! Never saw a race like this before. If they don't have this somewhere in America, then someone needs to start one up. These guy's rock!
There use to be a race that went down the road to the Mt San Jacinto tramway in Palm Springs Ca. It was mostly bicycles that were modified as down hill racers. I don't remember anyone bringing a "car", but, the races ended back in the 80's (if I'm not mistaken) because of too many cheaters and the businesses that were serviced on the road didn't want it blocked for a full day. I rode the race twice, it was a hoot, sadly missed though. There aren't too many places that you can just go block a road and have 100% support from the people who live around the area. Who knows, maybe you can find a road that would be suitable and start something new ?!
😱😱joesuchingadamaDre, Que pinche adrenalina se a de sentir llendo a esa velocidad y en ese tipo de carrito de madera. Mis respetos a esos deportes. Muy extremos 😰😰
Nice race! I might be wrong about the physics but I'm pretty sure rocking back and forth does not make you faster Would be better to lie down and lower air resistance
@@beorlingo yeah, and trout head helmets like the downhill ski racers!!😁🤪 Would be fun to build something for an open unlimited class! Aerospace grade bearings, solid tires, spun aluminum wheels, full fairings, wide and low chassis, nitrogen shocks!! Drool !!🤤
We were building our own carts with similar ideas and using wheel bearings instead as wheels during my early teen years( early seventies), it was very loud. Neighbors wouldn't like it, some ladies would dump water on us🙂 But we would be back in a few minutes. We would race down the hill in the street( there was very light traffic) Making the final 90 degree left hand turn was the ultimate rush, quite often we would crush 🙂👍🇹🇷
Wow, that looks like a lot of fun. Can I suggest loading the wheels so they keep spinning on the flat bit. Might be slower start but once you get going nothing will stop you. And maybe a bit more aerodynamically shaped.
@@rajeeb3500 yes, like a "fly wheel", and Myuuri's suggestion isn't bad either. You'd have to make some tests so you can slow down in "hairpin" corners though, and be able to steer, as they would resist turning in corners if the front wheels are also loaded, like a gyroscope does. maybe only "load" the back wheels, and make them bigger. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flywheel
This would be a lot of fun! The driver and passenger moving forward and backwards isn't having the effect I think they are hoping for, but it's still excellent racing!
Todos estos corredores son unos bravos de verdad tienen un corazón inmenso, yo ni en mis tiempos haría esa carreras pero estuvo muy excitante wow !!! well done guys, all of you...
Awesome guys, good driving line and fairly good energy conservation..pilot and copilot need to streamline a little more,Nice touch to have speed /route & altitude onscreen. Big thumbs-up. Subscribed.
