They not only had adopted and love and cares Zeus, this family also had prepared his future, because they can live 80 to 100 years, it's fabulous that the youngest daughter will keep loving and caring so much this fantastic creature. The family also adopted Parrots. Congratulations to be so a wonderful family and teach your children the love and respect for all your pets. Lots of love and respect for the hole family from Spain 🇪🇸!!! 😘💝

When my pop died my nan had to be put in aged care at the same time as she had dementia and unfortunately our cockatoo that we had since I was born had to go live with family friends (I would have loved to take him but I couldn't have pets where I live and my parents wouldn't take him either) and he died shortly after we believe between the stress of the move and the heartbreak of losing his original family is what made him pass away. Cockatoos really bond to their first family so having to go to a new family is heartbreaking for them but I'm glad the cockatoo in the geobeasts video adapted well to his new family and knows he is loved.

@@nrgbunni. That's sad. I had trouble finding a place for my 4 pets when my place once sold, but I didn't give them up. I spent a several thousand in motel stays. I could never just leave my pets behind. There is a price for that abandoning and it isn't worth it.

Birds can definitely tell when someone is sad. For three days straight after I had to put my chihuahua down all I did was cry in my bed only getting up to use the bathroom. For those three days my birds were by my side, on my side, on my face or by my face. They weren't playful like usual and they made the occasional chirp or kiss noise while giving me a tap but otherwise super quiet. When I finally pulled myself together they went back to their normal routine of play and noise making.

They're a lot harder to care for since it requires just such a emotional and loving connect. Needless to say the 5 opossums I had were entirely easier to care for than the birds lol. @@KindCountsDeb3773 I wish I knew someone like you. My 32-year-old parrot died last month, whom I’ve had since I was 16 years old and he was only four months old when I got him. I became disabled from a disastrous back surgery around 20 years ago, and in the last few years my disability has worsened so it’s been much more difficult to take as good of care of him as I used to. We were so incredibly bonded and he was either scared of or hated _EVERYBODY_ else in my life except for me, with the exception of one college roommate for a little period of time. I knew that he was getting older and everything and he very well could have lived out his lifespan (he showed many signs of age, such as white spots on his eyes, dry “old man“ feet and such), but I wasn’t able to give him his normal diet for the last 3 years and it broke my heart knowing that he should be getting better food than I was able to give him. I just can’t imagine not being able to see him ever again if I were to have rehomed him when things start getting really difficult with my health. I just love your comment so much because I wish there was a way for people in situations like mine to find a loving home for their most precious, beloved friend and still be able to see them every now and again to make sure that they are happy and healthy.

yes but there's huge numbers of these beautiful birds in rescues everywhere, just dreaming of finding a loving forever home & the majority, sadly, never will, cause there's just too many birds breed for people who will throw them away when they get bored of them or whatever. I have 2 rescues & one of mine in particular breaks my heart, appears to have been hand raised, but then something happened, maybe he bit a little or something? Anyway, he was locked in a small cage permanently after that, the only contact he got with another living being, being to bite the gloved hand that changed his food & water. By the time he came to live with me, no-one even knew his name/if he even had one, he was just this aggressive bird everyone hated. Took months of working with him before I could even coax him to put his head out of his cage, but even before that, it was obvious he wanted to be noticed & given attention. He is now the sweetest thing, loves nothing more than to be told "good girl", he just lights up when given praise, even better than food rewards to him, he just so desperately wants to be loved, but for at least a decade, he was denied that! His aggression btw, appears to have been mostly because he had been acquired to his last home to be company for another bird, but kept in a separate cage to her & she would be screamed at & abused & hurt & so he was trying to protect her/take revenge on those hurting her. He couldn't get to her to protect her, could only bite those he had seen earlier hurting her, when they put their hand into his cage to do his food. That's how it seems anyway, cause anytime I say her name & "no" (which I do when she plucks herself) he charges at me trying to bite me for it. I have to reassure him that it's ok, that I'm not going to hurt either of them & he can relax, which he largely does now, cause they're in the same cage now, so he feels much more confident that he can keep her safe & protect her. Again, he's just the sweetest personalty, beautiful bird, yet he was just thrown away & left to rot, cause no-one bothered to take the time to research his needs & pay attention to what he was trying to communicate with them & how sweet he really is. Zeus is a very lucky bird!

@@michelehemlokhexwhite4310 thanks :) & I'm glad I took them in too. They're lots of work, but I hate to think where they were destined to end up without me, given the family of the deceased owner were intending on just dumping the 2 of them, in their separate little cages, outside a local dog & cat pet store before it opened in the morning on their way out of the state :' They do have LOTS of enrichment & love, but being treated as objects for so long, it's SO hard to even teach them to play or use anything for fun. Hoping the hormone implant we just got might help with the plucking, too early to see yet. I saw a new avian vet for that btw & same response to my other one as previous vet had, but even moreso, vet fell in love with him, commenting on how absolutely adorable his personality is & how there's something so special about him. Yup, I agree, but how does a bird like that, end up being effectively just thrown away, unloved 😢

I have a neighbor that has an African Grey parrot, and it infuriated me to learn that he has no plans whatsoever for his parrot when he dies, and this guy is in his 60s. He and I are merely acquaintances, and he knows that I have had a parrot for 30 years that just passed away last month (I had a Pionus, which lived out his lifespan), and he’s telling me that whoever inherits his house will get his bird and he was essentially propositioning me to take on his parrot and his house when he dies. It was so fucking nuts! It is so batshit crazy when parrot owners don’t plan for their bird’s futures if the birds outlive them when they know full well that they live very long lives. And now he’s trying to be closer friends with me because of this, when I simply don’t like him very much.

Some 40 years ago I adopted a Red Lored Amazon, she has been my world and she has a home if something ever happens to me. Having a parrot is like living with a 3 year old and some time the sound coming from makes me a little crazy but she my baby and will always love no matter what.

1:34 this is the universal bird body language for “I’m happy to see you.” If you mimic it to other birds while out you’ll see they may respond in kind.

I'd say he's a little diva wrapped up in feathers. It's nice to see that he got a good second home. He is a happy bird. That's all that matters.
