Brilliant. Nice to see some real life training where things don’t go to plan and it’s not been left out but used as an example.

Thank You! Far too many channels showing only the highlights and giving a false impression of how much time & effort goes into the process.

We have the same, somedays are great other days she wants to be self employed, thanks makes me feel better as some trainers only post perfect behaviour/perfect training videos

Thank you as requested last week for the quartering video. It is also nice to see the reality of training as most trainers only show you the good and want to make them and their dogs look perfect every time!

I always start my day doing the heel sit exercise to get Dick to focus on me & sometime I do it before he goes out to pick up at the end of a drive & I find it very helpful. Learnt that from you.

Great videos I'm hooked! How do you move from treats to toys as a reward, I have a young fox red retriever ( 5 months ) and she works well with treats but would like to get more reliability with toys/ balls, she just gets bored with toys after a short time ?

Great video Charlie. I've a 1yr old working cocker just like waffle and she is a brilliant dog but hard work. Highly driven to hunt and I'm struggling to control it as she's a pet first and foremost. These videos are honest and very helpful. Many thanks. 👍

These videos are incredibly helpful. Seeing little hiccups helps even more than when things go according to plan. Getting out of a fix and knowing how to move on is as much part of training as perfection. Thank you again for good honest help.

Thanks for your videos, they make me chuckle as well as learn! Love your down to earth attitude. Also good to realise my fairly recently acquired 18 month old cocker isn't the only monkey! 😂

I liked the comment you made that teaching the turn whistle is you telling the dog that you are turning. Thank you.

May I ask how did you reacted when you got Waffle back? Do you reward him for coming back having run off? If you had to get him (ie he did not come back on his own volition) - how best to react to help limit this behaviour in the future?

Ohhhh puppies. Do you ever have young dogs watch the trained dogs work? Or work with them?

I wasn’t sure how old waffle is. Apologies if I missed this. We’ve our cocker, Pyrate, who’s 15 weeks so was keen to see where we could/should be in our journey.

Very good and realistic gundog training video, Charlie gives an realistic insight on training gundogs. My father used to train English Setters and field trial them here in Ireland, i watch him train and he used similar methods to Charlie. He would very rarely beat dogs or punish them. As you can see in the video Waffles is a happy dog, not cowarded or shy and continually progressing. Well done Charlie!!

Your son sounds a lot like my oldest daughter! Lol. Always enjoy those moments when you compare dog training to kid training... or worse yet, teenager training because it's so true

How old is waffle or golden balls 😊.? Thank you for showing that somedays they are little monkey's and training is a struggle and doesn't go to plan, true life training.

Stumbled across your channel yesterday, although I'm a GSP man I watched your video as basics are basics in my mind no matter what breed. However I would like to congratulate you for the fact that you show it when things go not to plan, too many videos an RU-vid clips show the dog never really putting a foot wrong and many new starters to the gundog world find this demoralising as they start to think that they have a duff dog. Well done keep it up. Jim.

I have a springer about the same age as Waffle, from your advice training is going well. Can get him to stay close thanks to running the other way. Heel is a work in progress, works well in low stimulation environments but more challenging in a field with lots of smells. Do you have any tips for the retrieve? Specifically bringing it back, Morty loves to do several laps of honour. On the one hand I want to tell him off for not bringing it back, but on the other I want to reward him when he does come back. I have been trying more very short retrieves with him on the lead, but do you have any other suggestions?

I used to have a springer called Mash, so was pleased to see your Mash in the sitting vid. My kids love the video about being rough with your pup, Morty is regularly pulled around and his paws tugged, he’s blissfully indifferent to it all, great advice.
