I lost my Cocker today after his 9 week battle with mouth cancer. We loved him so much and we got him to 10, but as soon as he started whining from any pain we knew it would only get worse. They truly are the most loyal, caring and fun dogs I have ever seen and I am glad I had the pleasure of including him in our family. Never nasty or dangerous, these dogs will love you forever. And you will love them just as much. R.I.P Billy
I’m facing same situation. Just waiting for the heart to let me know when the time is right. Really tough with these amazing dogs. Love them. They become a part of you over time.
This is sad, but whenever the camera is behind your dog and its just running, I literally almost start crying cause it reminds me so much of my first cocker. Love cocker spaniels; yes they're dumb as hell, but they're soooooo happy and loving. When my first cocker died it was devastating to realize how dead the entire house felt without her to cheer everyone up and welcome them home. Best dog breed hands down.
Mine cocker spaniel, although 14 years old, does the exact same thing, jumps like crazy over high grass, retrieving sticks, rocks, everything...cockers really are the best of dogs :)
I lost my Cocker Spaniel two days ago. I'm 21 and she's been with me since fourth grade. She was 18 with a young spirit. This made me smile, which I needed greatly.
Wow that's a really long life for a cocker. According to Google their average is 15 years, but I believe that with lots of love they will live that long. They get expensive though, all the care when they get old, but they really are so great. So loyal, gentle, sweet. I know that feeling of loss, I'm sorry it happened.
Always had Springers-love them. Lost my pup 5 months ago. Finally decided and got an English Cocker puppy. Now 3 months old. What a joy. Personality, boundless energy. Sometimes I think she loves me as much as I love her, but that can’t be true. Great pals.
My cocker spaniel is 2 years old. He is always exited to go to the track behind are house and just run around and also he jumps exactly like that! It's so cute to see his ears flop up and down:)
Love her bunny hopping thru the grass - I think she is convinced you faked throwing the stick. Love to see a Cocker enjoying herself in the field like that
+Ted Ridgway Watt O please do! I am so pleased to hear that she is still going strong. I have watched and enjoyed this video many times. Love it! Thankyou so much.
I'm so glad to hear that she's still going strong can't put down that spaniel spirit. I've had a love affair with the spaniel , this is specifically the American cocker spaniel breed for more than 35 years . I adopted my 1st cup of spaniel from the shelter when I was 16 years old and I fell head over heels in love. I had other breeds and love them but to me there's nothing more special than a cocker spaniel . I have had strong bonds with certain Cockers spaniels over the years one of them was with Sadie a chocolate cocker spaniel that I had gotten from the pet store and she was three months old . Sadie and I were inseparable . This past January 2015 Sadie got sick . In my 35 years I've seen just about every health issue that cocker spaniel's can go through , so when the doctors told me the results of her blood work and where we were going I know we only had a matter of time before I had to say goodbye to her . I had a long weekend with her over New Year's and decided to say goodbye to her on January 2. I have decided not to adopt any more cocker spaniel's is that I'm getting older and it's harder for me to do the grooming . I've always got my own cocker spaniel's my parents and my friends . At one point I was grooming up to 20 cocker spaniel's . So when I said goodbye to Sadie in January and about broke my heart . I said to myself I have eight dogs in the house more than enough love share I will share my bond with my little Chihuahua. But those of you that had cocker spaniel's in your life know there's nothing like them . I held out until March , which is a record for me . I couldn't handle it anymore I felt there was a piece missing out of my life not having one of my little specialty spaniel trolling around the house and in the mischief making me laugh . So I got on the Internet looked at the AKC site for reputable breeders because I decided I wanted a puppy this time . Did some trolling on the Internet . And I knew immediately when I saw her I fell head over heels in love with this pretty little four-month-old chocolate sable cocker spaniel who is living in Missouri. I contacted the breeder she told me that she would be ready to go for a couple weeks which worked out good for me . I decided to drive from Nevada to Missouri to pick up my baby . I didn't want her flying on an aircraft I wanted to go get her myself . This is something I've never done before I never travel cross country by myself this is gonna be an adventure So I packed up my 6 pound Chihuahua, hit the road and was off to go find my new baby in the wilds of Missouri . And boy was it cold in Missouri for a desert bred person like me. Don't get me wrong I still mourn Sadie , always mourn Sadie , but there was a missing place in my heart that I am knew that only a Cockers spaniel could fill. I always told my husband that there was nothing cuter on the face the earth than a cocker spaniel puppy . He always said to me yeah yeah sure you just say that because you like Cockers spaniels . And I said to him no, I'm serious until you see a cocker spaniel puppy you have not seen cute . So Pippa and I show up to pick up my little 6 pound Cockers spaniel puppy . Oh Pippa is the Chihuahua . Quickly became mama Pippa . And I immediately fell in love with her she was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen . She brought tears to my eyes she was so beautiful . She comes from a show quality stock that her sire has champions on every branch of his pedigree . Her dam hasn't been shown but she's a very nice looking little bitch . I took one look at her and knew I was gone . And now begins my bond with Zoe . You would think with so many years under my belt and so many Cockers spaniels up in my life that I've seen everything that they could pull . Nope . Zoey comes up with something new every day it makes me giggle and laugh and just love her just that much more . I don't plan on using her to show this is not what I do . I may have a litter of puppies off of her more likely keep most of the puppies myself. But I have to say the bond that I have my Zoey is just as strong if not stronger than the bond that I have my Sadie and I don't regret 1 mile that I drove to go pick her up I am so sorry for the long mushy story but what brought it on was watching your baby bounced through the field . My Zoey has springs on her legs just like yours does . In fact we were watching her and wondering if she was part kangaroo . All my other Cockers have been the type that would flush straight to the ground . They would put their noses down and go it would be the type that would wind in and out of brush and not do a lot of hopping and bouncing you would see the detail but you wouldn't have that kangaroo up-and-down affect . Zoe on the other hand has these gorgeous long legs on her and seem to be able to spring up and bounce from a sitting position watching your girl bounce around to the grass I was thinking she would love to be out there playing and bouncing and discovering everything that was out there . Unfortunately we live in the desert so we don't have any fields like that more the pity again I'm sorry for this really Long Post . The first time I posted my story and I hope I didn't bore anybody . Thank you for reading
Sorry for some of the weird phrasing, I was using auto dictate on my Kindle. I had meant to say I was grooming about 20 cocker spaniel's at one time and at that time I was a full-time an accountant for government agency . There's probably a lot of typos other typos I missed but just let them go thank you
I have a Gold American Cocker I love him so much. I miss him, his loyalty, and his energy. I'm definitely gonna hang out with him all summer when I'm done with college! :)
Just love this film, really well put together - she is so cute. - really encapsulates the cocker spirit. We have two cockers and they are absolutely adorable.
OH Wow!!!! You have to be a Cocker Spaniel lover to understand there ways, My Little girl is 10yrs old now and she is my baby i could never imagine life without her. She is just like your dog jumping through the high grass very adventurous so loving, walks ahead and always looks back to see if i am there. You will never get a better breed of dog. Thank you for sharing i had a good laugh at your dogs antics Thank you x
LOL its like that video game of the cocker spaniel retrieving fowl shot from the air! Your pooch is just amazing and beautiful . I lost mine in 06/2010 and I miss him dearly but your video brought a big smile to my face...thank you!
This is just amazing. My eyes went teared by this little beautiful and extremly happy fellow. I have one dog by myself and we will get a Cocker the next spring. I'm really looking forward it
what an amazingly fun that day must have been! my 12 year old spaniel passed away a few months ago from old age. I really want to get another! although they are not made for hot climates such as the one I live in.

Hi there, glad you liked it! She was docked at birth - I had no choice, though Cockers are no longer docked unless they are working dogs. Her little tail is sweet though - it wags *so* fast!
We are adopting one from a local shelter that looks a lot like your's. He has black, white, some grey patches, and one little brown spot above one of his eyes. You have a beautiful dog!! Love this video!!
Such a great video! Love it. Gorgeous dog. We have had two cocker spaniels previously, both black and white blue roans. Rocky was a sleepy cuddly kind of dog and murphy was a mad energetic dog! Very different but both brilliant in their own ways!
OMG that video reminds me of my baby girl that is almost 13 years old, when she was a puppy she use to jump in long grass as your dog, they look so beautiful with their long ears, I always wished i had a camara in that moment and make a video as you did! nice to find this! =) enjoy your cocker! best dogs everrrrrr
What a lovely video....we have just lost our 13 year old blue roan Emily...it was heartbreaking as she was such a large part of our life for so long..and we miss her so so much. Your video brought back memories of when Emily was stick mad and full of energy....thankyou..xx
+Boris Carney I wish I could give more thumbs up if this video stopped you from using heroin. Dogs are healing they bring joy into your life. I've had many breeds of dogs all different sizes shapes temperaments. I love them all dearly and deeply. And all my years of owning dogs I've only had one dog that I was unable to keep due to behavioral issues. I don't want to go into the details of that still breaks my heart. 35+ years that I have had doubts in my life I have felt that they have brought more joy to my life than anything else that has touched my life . I hope this post find you well and happy and still doing what you need to be doing to stay healthy . I'll have you in my thoughts
Mine did that too when I took him for walks in a wheat field. I called it the kangooroo walk. I didn't have a camera back then, though, unfortunately, because it IS really funny, and impressive!
Awww, what a cute cocker! I've got a three year old, male, black cocker (He's lying next to me as I type this) and he's my world! :) btw... Are you sure that's long grass and not a farmers crops? :)
