@@Borzacchinni Hopefully, you haven't seen the actual point replay or the egg-headed way the umpire behaved during the exchange before you commented, because, yes, it is a professional sport, and despite multiple opportunities to rectify his mistake, he failed miserably and should consider a different profession.
@@souravdutta24 Didn't see the replay but people make mistakes - which I guess the replay shows? Saying "he should never be allowed back [to the profession]" is clearly taking it too far. That would be an appropriate punishment if he had broken laws or put people in danger, which he didn't
The umpire should be punished, just call out the supervisor instead of wasting negative energy arguing....he did that because he knew he was wrong and didnt want to embarrass himself on live television...useless man

Either Rules of opinion situation, the ball was in before he called it out. And if he knew twas a mistake he'd called the supervisor for further and better clarification, not argue with so much negative and it looked alot malicious
Coco was right. The umpire is too proud to admit he was wrong. Pliskova also knew the call came after she hit the ball, so she should have conceded the point.
She was actually correct in her complaint. The call came after Pliskova hit the ball and it was Coco’s point and she has a right to ask for the referee and the umpire denied that. I hope he apologies like he said he would after reviewing the vid after the match.
@@yajilobay Pliskova (and Rybakina) are my favourites players and neither speak English brilliantly but then nor do I. My point is Coca is allowed to ask for the referee, based on the audi alteram partem maxim, to have her concern listened to, plus Pliskova should be supporting this principle.
Yup. He was embroiled in a few other bad calls etc but never admitted, never apologized, etc. Pig headed, big headed egomanic lousey person who should be red carded and his accreditation revoked.
@@juansantiago16 Get your head around it, he blew it and didn't reverse his initial bad decision, and that goes deep to his ego and pride. Two mistakes. We've seen this in other matches over the decades of course, the tournament and tour organisers will look at this and decide his future as an umpire or otherwise, not us.
Very true. The umpire made a mistake & he wasn't man enuf to admit it. He cld simply have asked that the point be replayed & avoided all the argie-baggie. Worse, Pliskova was laffing (3:19) which is just plain rude & insensitive. As the older/more-experienced player, my respect for her wld have gone thru the roof if she had stepped-in, conceeded the point & end the argument immediately. That wld have been so classy. Winning sometimes isn't always everything. But now, we see how classless she is. Thankfully, Coco smashed her!
That is why Coco's opponent will NEVER win a grand slam she does not have the mentality of a champion and behaves more like a cheater. Good thing Coco won.
@@user-tg1pg1be7n Very true. There's a hint of jealousy here from Pliskova. Coco is a GS winner 🏆; Pliskova isn't. Which is maybe why she was grinning like a cat 🐈 when Coco was fighting for rights. So tacky of her & her about-to-end career.
You are such an eloquent, intelligent, bold, knowledgeable and good tempered young lady. Continue to be respectfully vocal in speaking up for your rights. Welldone for not being angry. You did it with such grace. You are a force to be reckoned with. 😊
Looks like Coco is right.. The umpire is to proud to admit his error..He must be suspended..And Pliskova should have said a word if she is honest and a true sport-woman...
it doesnt matter at all that the umpire made blew the call--his decision to " replay the point" is 100% correct...and u dont delay a match 30 min waiting for a supervisor after the umpire makes a correct call to " replay"
@@guyrestivo can you please watch the video. Coco was 100% correct. No need for a replay of the point. A call of out was made after the opponent hit the ball. Another good reason to use Cyclops to judge a match. No human error and no need for a stubborn judge, that should have gotten a supervisor, review the point and understand he made a mistake. Point is over.
@@richcampbell6808What do you mean disqualified? Was she right or wrong? The supervisor should have come out to answer her question. This is a poor show for the tournament organizers.
@henriporter5686 I agree with you. On the professional level fans don't pay large sums of money to see umpire's incompetence. They want to see their favorite players compete against each other.

Imagine you are not allowing her an opportunity to escalate an issue...For me the supervisor should have been close and come out. Systems are not appropriate for such a high level tournament. It certainly needs to be still dealt with. I am waiting....
How could he even possibly called it before she hit the ball, he needed to watch the play, mentally register the non call by the linesperson decide to overrule and then say out.

@@richcampbell6808Now, answer the question. What does Coco's losing or winning have to do with the dispute she was having with the judge? Also, you do realize Coco just played three tournaments this year after winning the US Open. So where's all this losing coming from that you are claiming?
@@barry4530 hey Barry, Mr Campbell is not very bright so he will muddle along with most of anything he says. It’s the way things go in the comment section.
Honestly, nothing I have seen from Coco so far in her career suggests she is diva. I have only ever seen her stand her ground when she feels genuinely aggrieved.
This is what I hate about these umpires… when their ego takes over they not only refuse to admit their mistake but they become too proud. Good for you Coco! That’s why I love you!
COCO Mamaa, next time just take a rest seat, and refuse to play any further, till the supervisor is called. They cannot penalise you, for the right to with reason, engage a supervisor. At this point, they will then have to abide by their own rules, and bring a supervisor.
Blessings 🙏🏾❤🙏🏾 Umpire did apologize I heard, but I liked the fact Coco took her time on this one. They will be careful to mess with her going forward. She watched enough Williams sisters videos to to not go through their challenges again. I know Coco family worked on her confidence. Bless 🙏🏾
In baseball a manager can ask for an appeal on a close play apart from balls and strikes because not all strike zones are the same but in tennis an in ball and an out ball are clearly one or the other.
Some of these Umpires should leave their biased and whatever at home when coming to officiate the tennis 🎾 ball matches. Our own Coco Guaff is right but that man is wrong! What's the big deal? Coco Guaff said call the supervisor, why not?
@@jkscout Being called the N word in Miami vs Lucie Safarova in the then Miami Open in 2007 was okay? Sorry Karen, this isn't 1850. Jealous and racist much?
How fast was the service ball traveling.I see serves over well over 100 miles an hr.Are you saying that the receiver does not try to return the service, that they are such a electronic hawkeye that they can tell that the serve is going out so don't bother trying to hit it?.Just hope it was out !.If the receiver hit the ball and the serve was called out then it should be the receivers point,if the server disputes the call and asks for the hawkeye and it shows the ball was in then it would be the servers point or a replay. In fairness if I was the ref I would ask for a replay.Something with the rules does not seem very bright.
This tournament DOES have Hawkeye, but it's not enough these days. Electronic line calls would've made this a non-issue. The umpire wouldn't have been able to pull that mess. Doha has electronic line calls and everything is much more straightforward. 2025 can't come soon enough. Every tournament on the ATP & WTA will be required to have electronic line calling. No more umpire & lines person bias.
This is the third time she has had to fight for something she was 100% correct about! Either hire competent umpires or take control out of their hands! I'm starting to believe they are intentionally picking on her.
The chair umpire is being arrogant. If he was in the right he would call the supervisor knowing he was in the right but he knows he may be wrong so he is doubling down which is ridiculous.
I don't understand the umpire on this call, most will give the point when error occurs, not to replay the point when the other player hits the ball,so he was wrong in this instance,Coco was right to challenge him 🤔🤷♀️
TO ALL TENNIS UMPIRES: DO NOT! I REPEAT, DO NOT EVER MAKE A CALL OR OVERRIDE A CALL FROM YOUR SEAT UNLESS YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN THAT THE BALL IS OUT!!! YOU DON'T HAVE A CLEAR LINE OF VISION!! THE USTA SHOULD GET RID OF THIS STUPID RULE!!!! DAMN SHAME!!!
Support for Coco! It seems this ref is now on the 'top team for the WTA'. Anyone at the "top" should be able to take criticism, and be held to an investigation.
Bullying a teenager its definitely the umpire job desk here… he said: thats what I feel 😖 Coco was right its not about feeling, its about being accurate and knowing the facts
