Cocoon Nintendo Switch Review - Is It Worth It?

"There weren't many moments when we found a big gap between knowing what to do and actually doing it." I absolutely love this, and thank you for saying it! I have always said that a good puzzle takes a while to figure out, but is easy to actually do once solved. The difficulty shouldn't come from some arbitrary timing or weird controls. This alone already has me intrigued with this game!

Played it on Game Pass, absolutely amazing game. Might be the best puzzle game I have ever played, the way it twists your brain into a pretzel as it goes on is genius, and yet, the puzzles never get too cryptic.

Would be amazing to see Limbo, Inside and Cacoon physical edition. Triple game on physical wound be amazing for switch.

Love these zero dialog games. Makes me want a full fledge game like Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal.

This game has been on my radar since I saw a trailer some time ago. The idea of worlds within worlds and worlds you can carry around before jumping into them is so incredibly mind-bending! Too expensive for my taste but I'll definitely check it out when it's on sale!

One of the best games I’ve played all year. It’s short. But makes every second count. It’s definitely a case for quality over quantity. I also love how the game is nudging you ahead without you even noticing.

I found it to be a bit laggy on the switch but still hugely enjoyable - gorgeous sound design and visuals and some really surprising mechanics which just feel natural. Love how it all leads you so neatly without ever being condescending. 8/10 is bang on. Completed in a cold wet weekend on the sofa - perfect.

This was kinda-semi-on my radar, but I'll definitely check it out now. Even when narrating a video he's not visible in, I imagine Felix still does the little salute at the end.

I just downloaded it on Game Pass but i haven't started it yet, but i have been craving more games in the vein of Limbo and Inside so Cocoon came at a good time and not that long after i just finished playing thru Planet of Lana.

I was honestly worried about getting completely lost and confused playing this, sounds like it's actually pretty easy to get the hang of. Definitely going to have to pick this up.

Good review and the game looks great, one comment tho, you say it's got a short run time but don't say roughly how long that is? A "couple of sessions" could be anything from 2 to 12 hours in my opinion

Played on Gamepass. Gave me OG Portal vibes crossed with Inception. It was amazing!

Thank you for highlighting this game to me, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Christian Donlan at Eurogamer said that unlike other puzzle action games, this one in particular focussed your mind when you get stuck giving you every opportunity to figure it out for yourself. Some of the best puzzles I’ve played in a really long time!

I got this on the Switch New Year’s sale after hearing that it won best debut indie at the Game Awards, and I can see why it did. One of the best puzzle games since Portal imho, the mechanics are so sick

This is an amazing puzzler. I beat it on gamepass and let me tell you, it’s up there with great chill puzzlers like Portal. I’m going to double dip and buy it for the switch, just to show some love to the developers. Bravo 👏

I got this game the day of release - hooked instantly and highly recommend. The mechanics and jumping world to world is absolute genius. The only downfall to the game is that its short :( hopefully a sequel or dlc to come!

All i gotta say is if i get this game now, it better run much better on the Switch 2 with an update from a patch... cause based on this video, the Switch version doesn't look like it performs smoothly.

Reminds me of Pan Pan

Some of you might be thinking $25 is steep for a game with only ~5 hours of gameplay, but think of it in terms of dollars per hour of entertainment, and compare it to something like going to the movies and buying some popcorn and a drink, and you'll quickly realize it is very much worth it.

Cocoon is an engrossing experience, which I'm glad I have already completed before viewing this review. Massive puzzle spoilers, including two I was stuck on for ages and I'm sure others will be too. Try to be a bit more mindful of ruining it for others, NL. Part of the great pleasure of this game is solving the multi-planetary puzzles.

No one played this, and yet, it somehow dethroned the best indie game of the year (Pizza Tower). What a joke.

Disappointing experience. I expected at least an engaging gameplay, but it felt like I was clearing obstacles for a goal I have yet to find, and before things get interesting the credits are already rolling (mind you, I do love puzzle games). Too little too late, and the difficulty isn't that high. Very hand-holdy, not much that picked my interest besides the creative world that seems incredibly wasted. Although the teaching of the mechanics is masterful, I would be ashamed to even dare compare it to the likes of Portal 2 in its overall state.

I legit thought this was an xbox exclusive or something
