I snagged Cocoron up back in the day as soon as I heard Akira Kitamura was behind it. It's a shame that guy didn't keep making games.

funny thing is that you can in fact create Astroboy, Joe Shimamura from Cyborg 009, and the Amuro's Ray Gundam if you want its quite interesting to see this characters all in one game aside from Little Samson of course.

Such an underrated channel

Years ago, the owner of a retro gaming website told me Cocoron was one of the best 8-bit platformers ever. I only played a little bit of it, but I really need to get back to this one. You sold me on it, Dave.

No wonder that Cocoron reminds you of Little Samson. Takeru / Sur de Wave developed Little Samson later on :). Takeru / Sur de Wave were formed by former Capcom & Irem employees = no wonder they made great games :D.Fun fact: There was a PC Engine version announced (called PC Cocoron) and was completed (they even sent preview copys to some JP magazines) but it was cancelled a few weeks before release :(. There exist 2 review copys that JP PC Engine collectors own - making the PC Engine version one of the rarest games ever.

Guys im looking for a game similar to this but cant remember the name. All I remember it was a character that had an ability to bounce while balancing himself on a stick(that was his weapon maybe I'm not sure) for like 2 seconds to avoid enemies as one of his moves. Not sure if the game had more playable characters though.

Damn, its been years, I still remember playing this game back when I was a kindergardener. Its my favorite. The nostalgia. And yes I reached the cactus stage, if u dont have a jetpack ur screwed. I wasn't able to finish it coz yeah Im just a kid back then and my famicom broke. I think its about time to finish this game now that I have astronomical gaming experience. First time I saw tapir, basically all I thought was "I know what a baku is, dumbass!" Also, it looks like his fatness is a huge liability, as in the final battle you managed to exploit his thick body in attack pattern to defeat him. Large "Pinessis" aside, I happen to like tapirs. It always makes me kinda sad whenever they're bad guy characters, especially in Pokemon since Drowzee is one of my favorites. As for the umbrella, it's possible he is Totoro's evil brother, as well as Drowzee father.

Got to play this now..

I bought a repro of this game at Gamereproductions.com, great quality. I prefered the US NES cart style over famicom cart styles games.
