I mentioned that too and I am glad there are people who have the same opinion.

apparently Robin Guthrie gave Brendan and Lisa from Dead Can Dance a specific guitar used on Garlands, which they (DCD) then used on their first self titled album - which along with Garlands are probably in tandem my favourite gothic records ever. i feel like the sentiment expressed is also massively applicable to DCD. I absolutely adore the brooding, mysterious wall of sound of these records - incredibly evocative and atmospheric. i do wish in both cases even if they changed styles, they made more work in this phase..! I'm not a musician only a music enthusiast, and unfortunately don't know the name of the piece of gear offhand or any other technical elements. But when i saw that written somewhere, it was like a puzzle piece falling into place. Sorry if there's silence on my part in event of a potential reply, because i have kinda tuned out of notifications for the short term for various reasons, i just wanted to throw in the comparison to DCD's debut and the connection! @@mothratemporalradio517 Interesting discussion. I (from 63) see Garlands as the most powerfull album, but the song "Threshold" from Dead Can Dance is perhaps my al time favourite song.

I am stuck with the first 2 albums and the lullabies ep. After these, their sound took a direction I don't personally like, but Irespect it because it is the material that made Frazer a legend and Guthrie an ambient dream pop guitar god.
