I fished Battery Point at high tide after being directed there by a local angler. Not casting too far just the edge of rocks. Caught codling and was dead chuffed! Not had them in Sussex for years.
Great video as always lads. There are tube worm beds or something similar out past the mud/sand which I think cause the odd snag. Sometimes when you hit them you can break parts free on the retrieve to free you and they come back on the grips or hooks.
Hi Michael, I had a chat with a local. He was telling me there’s a deep channel out around 60 yards on low water. I lost a lot of gear he seemed to think I was getting caught in line snags on the retrieve. I’m sure I left a couple of fish out there to snags.
@@BanditFishingUK I fish 25lb mainline down there, seems to help me get out of the snags, only issue is when the tide runs on the ebb it's hard to hold bottom, there are a lot of tackle snags down there though, I dragged a huge on in last time I s fished it with about 10 leads in it lol, keep up the good work lads 👌
Wold love to see you guys hit the big Chesil beach at some point i imagine it would be perfect for filminy too as you won't be moving from the tide once you're setup.
Very envious live down on South coast and rarely see a codling on the beach. 30 years ago a very different story. Am out this weekend but suspect it will be whiting and more whiting but you never know 😀
Hi Paul, thanks for watching. There’s no doubt the cod fishing has declined over the years but I do think they’re making a come back or at least I hope they are.
@@BanditFishingUK I agree but just read that there is a factory ship of the coast of Brighton close to where I live, vessel is the Dutch factory trawler, Carolien which measures 126.22 metres in length and has been joined by 8 other vessels and is part of the problem mankind’s greed.
Yes there are codling around and YIPPEE! I get the impression that the lockdown in 2020 helped by keeping the commercials out of it. There are few 6 - 10 pounders about which were common once.😦😦
Hi stu, this was filmed some time ago.... I’ve got a week off work next week so will be giving it a go. I will drop you a message if I manage to get anything out. Am I right in thinking it’s rough ground?
@@BanditFishingUK yes it’s a rough mark but right off the front is a Sandy channel! Iv always had good fish off there in the posts and some monster cod to the left hand side casting in the direction of steep Holme that is rough as hell there and the tide rips through there but if there switched on there big
Cheers Stu, I’ve seen a picture of a 9lb come off this winter already.... a lot of people are predicting this year as the big fish cycle in the channel. I’m mainly focused my hunt around sully island. A gain another know big fish mark. I will definitely give nells a go tho.
@@BanditFishingUK sully island is a great mark especially the up channel side some cracking fish come off of there! I look forward to your Nells trip bud, tight lines
Hi Martin, it was a tough session with the lost gear but yes we did have a couple of fish out that was nice. I would love to get down the south coast and have a fish mate. Keep up the good work with the videos. All the best 👍
Well done on the target species from a tough new venue. Myself and a mate are going to severn beach to fish Tuesday & Wednesday next week. (First time fishing the channel). Chances of catching a codling or 2 or are they starting to thin out now? Cheers
Right guys need a bit of help here .looking to do maybe 12 hr session starting from seven bridge working my way back home to cardiff. Can anyone suggest three spots plz
Hi Stephen, very difficult session to plan on the upper parts of the channel mainly because there aren’t many low water marks. When are you planning to do your session and what fish would you like to target?
@@BanditFishingUK just after a bit of cod maybe . Or if u have a particular good hotspot that wud be great .and any time mate .I'm always fishing but mainly bendricks, penarth pier ,barrage but getting bit of bore of that.great video by the way
Hi Stephen, if you’re aiming to fish in April personally I would fish around the Barry area targeting rays. You might have a spring run of cod in the channel but it can be very hot and miss at that time of year. A session over high friers and then low at either the sand spit or cold knap could be an option. Obviously it all boils down to travel restrictions. It wouldn’t be possible to do a session like this if restrictions are still in place.
