Absolutely cracking video. Really good message too re - mental health. People always ask me why I go fishing and I always give them some waffle about enjoying shivering or spending 40 quid on bait to catch 3.99 worth of fish. In reality that time I spend fishing, it's my time. Irrespective of the world's pressures we all need 'our' time. Keeping on spreading the good word and making quality content.
Your a top guy I've got bipolar and watching your channel gives me hope and it's made me want to get into fishing in 2024 hope all goes well for u and family
Always great videos even catching little whiting. And great advice on mental health awareness month. Already looking forward to seeing more. Have a great weekend and regards to the family
Never a bad video your content is always interesting and relaxing. Hope you can get down to Cornwall at some point. Was my birthday yesterday 64 now so happy birthday to you for the 3rd. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to your next session.
If you are thinking of fishing Wales. Barry and Cardiff are fishing very well at moment. where ever you fish i will watch your vids. All the best mate Paul from Cardiff👍👍
Nice video Alex. Interested to hear that you are considering Northumberland...excellent choice!. The kelp codling are a deep red colour. A good mark is between Craster and Dunstanburgh Castle albeit hard ground. Stay warm and tight lines.
Good effort Alex 👍 The cod seem to be few and far between in the Mersey so far this winter. You could take the fresh bait you made for a trip on the local river for some trout and grayling 😂
Great video mate. I fly fish for trout but I have ordered a sea fishing rod to start sea fishing and I have have picked up some good tips from your vids. Have you ever fished the Manchester shop canal at Ellesmere Port? I can't find much information if it is freshwater or salt water there. The shroppie flows into the ship canal at the boat museum.
Hi Chris, flay fishing is something I'd love to have a go at. As for the ship canal. The amount of time the locks are opened to let ships in, vs the amount of water that must flow into it from various sources, I'd say it must be mostly fresh water. I've always thought about giving it a go though all the various times I've crossed it on my travels.
I’m out of action for a while, accident in work. Nearly lost my finger. Crushed it between a bundle of steel and a concrete Ballard while lifting with a demag crane. 5 hours in A&E to get stitched up. Gutted. Could have been worse though. Great video Alex.
Oh Colin, sorry to hear that mate. Early feet up for Xmas though? Set yourself a challenge, tie your shoes one handed, and when you nail that, tie some rigs 😅
Nice video. There are two types of assistance, beginners want to see how to bait what types of bait (every now and then you should show this too, it increases the audience), and see how you catch a lot of fish. Then there are the old people, who know what bait to use, we have already caught a lot of fish and we know that we also have a lot of blancs. When you're looking at the rods trying to understand what's going on, what's on your mind, you become us, who have spent hours looking at the tip of the rods trying to understand why it doesn't bite. The veterans are not here to see you catch a lot of fish but to have a good time with good conversation and you are doing a good job with that.
Cheers Jose. I'm going to try putting together some short tutorial videos over the break for the beginners. But I'll try and include a bit more advice in the regular vids too.
One more tip; 90% of the fish are in 10% of the water, this is true especially when fishing on the beach, in the estuary, river, on rocks, the most important thing is the structure as well as food accumulation areas, obviously. There is only one channel that tells you where to fish and why. You did this in a previous video where you showed the area at low tide and said that was the reason why it was fishing there, even though at the time, at high tide, it looked like the same area as the rest. I've attached a link to this channel to give you an idea of what I mean. If you do this your channel will be a success. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RzK_PNR2Jl8.html@@theawfulangler
Nice one Alex 👍 I've never seen the point of pulley droppers in any kind of flow, surely the bait just gets pulled in the opposite direction of the anchored lead and sits back up top like a regular pulley or paternoster rig?
It's a possibility Daz. But there's a good chance the bait will lie flat on the sea bed. Certainly more chance than with a pulley. And worst case it sits in the same place as a pulley, so you haven't really lost anything in trying
A very good effort buddy but they are not there you wont catch them. Instead of waiting for them to come to him it looks like Tommy has gone to one of the best cod grounds in the U.K. and he's pulling them in.
You don't need to go that far to get into them 😉 I was hoping to join them up there. But it's fallen on the one weekend I can't do. I'll be up there soon though.
Hi mate, cracking yes like most of your videos are. well, we all in one way or another, have some kind of mental health issues, mine from serving in the army in Ireland and Falklands
Arbroath next sorry this month 4days coding happy days let you no how we do 😊 KEEP UP TH GOOD VIDS MATE .TRY DOUBLE PULLY RIGS MATE CAN WORK WELL SOME TIMES.
Hy mate, brand new to this game,at 61 semi retired thought I might give it a go.i want to soak up all the advice I can.were get.were exactly are you fishing? I fish Fleetwood at the mo with no success. I use one rod only,is this advisable? Any venues you recommend pal.? Thx for ur time. Will defo subscribe btw. Thx
The standard rod I'd say 5oz and a good bait is spot on. The power tips will flick a 7oz and a good bait no problem. When I say good bait, I'm talking full squid and black lug wrap, I'm not talking a full mackerel 😅
@@theawfulangler that sounds ideal, won't be going much bigger than whole squid or a half fillet of mack type size. Just looking for something with a bit more beef to handle the bigger boys. Not a bad price tag on them either
Great vlog as usual Alex. For some reason I've Lost faith in mersey alex. I personally think it's been dead for few year ago. It's good for rays and smooth hounds though
I think its the same as anywhere mate. Fish are few and far between but some good ones coming out when they do. Just this week I've been sent videos of 7, 9 and 11lb cod from the Mersey
I didn't expect him to stop, he's got a job to do, I guess. He had his head out of the window so I'd like to think if I started to reel the rods in he would have backed off a bit
