Code 11 Rinnai water heater. (The actual fix)

This is a simple explanation of the steps you should follow to clear this error code. If you want to remove the burner you will need a long magnetic Phillips head the screws are on the bottom all the way in the back. Be sure to organize the screws that come out by size for reference the longer screws hold the heavier front plate on, the shorter screws are everything else. There are 2 screws for the gas valve that are hex heads with phillips in the middle and there is one wide screw holds the display to the front plate. Be mindful of the screws that hold other stuff when you put it back together

Thank you so much!! Today is Saturday, and the people we could call are closed. I didn't want to wait until Monday, so I followed your instructions. I cleaned the ignition with a dollar bill just like you did and now I have hot water for church tomorrow! You're amazing!

I can’t say how much I appreciate this video. I was sick about having to spend $3500 for a new Rinnai (plumbers were scheduled to come by tomorrow AM to do the swap) and then I watched this. Figured what could I lose? Well I took it apart, cleaned it like you suggested, put it back together and VOILA! Hot water and no error code! THANK YOU!!!

Just got this code today twice. So not at a hard down yet. Hopefully it will work past Thanksgiving and I will tear it apart on the weekend. Freaking COVID hit me on my first vacation for the year and can’t get any of the planned crap done. Now this. Thankfully we got guys like you posting the videos to help us out. Thanks!!

Great video and worked perfectly. After disassembling I found a moth, wasp, and a lot of debris I blew out with compressed air. Definitely use a strong magnetic screwdriver as suggested to remove the 2 lower screws holding the burner in. One fell off the screwdriver and went into the fan housing. I removed the 3 screws holding the fan in and removed it easily, along with 2 more bugs and debris.

I told a plumber I cleaned the flame rods with a dollar bill, he said that was good, but recommend I replace them for a longer lasting fix. They were about $32 on Amazon.

Wouldn't surprise me if this is my issue. Gotta move stuff in the garage so I can get to my breakers. Feels like a powered off project. Pulled my error codes, had 2 code 11 followed by a 52.

I have a brand new i120cn and get no flame with code e110 or other models would throw 11. Now, I converted the unit to propane with a 65 foot 1/2"copper tube. I know now this was too long. So I moved the tank closer and shortened the line to about 30ft. But guess what, still no ignition. I tried everything, of course not taking apart anything because it's brand new. Whelp
@Sickkidsentertainment
@Sickkidsentertainment Месяц назад
You probably gotta take it apart or maybe adjust gas valve settings
@FrankfurtFury
@FrankfurtFury Месяц назад
@Sickkidsentertainment hey thanks for the quick reply. I looked at the gas valve, but I don't have the right tool for it and not to mention which way am I adjusting? I don't have a gas pressure reader tool thingy.

Phenomenal video Sir. Have a question. Do I have to turn off the Gas coming in to the heater first ?
@Sickkidsentertainment

For safety sake I should say yes but if the machine is off gas wont run through there

@dswhite42 0 seconds ago Thanks very much - this video gave me the confidence to get into my Rinnai v65 and solve the problem myself. I also appreciated your tip about using a dollar bill to clean the flame rods and the igniter. I'm not sure if you're still responding to comments a couple of months after the video, but for my setup, even though the heat is working again, there's now a fairly significant odor of natural gas whenever the tank is running (not just during initial startup). Could I have missed something putting it back together? Do I need to replace some gasket somewhere?
@Sickkidsentertainment
@Sickkidsentertainment 4 месяца назад
Maybe the front cover gasket for the burner or if you pulled the oring on the gas valve when you took the plate off that could be it
@dswhite42
@dswhite42 4 месяца назад
Yeah, maybe I'll order the rectangular gasket for the plate just to be safe. I did have to put the O-ring back in when I reassembled it (found it on the garage floor). It looks like one side of the ring is flat while the other is ridged. I put it back in with the ring side facing the plate - was that the right orientation?

HELPPPP..... I have a code 11 and tried everything and still not working. The flame dies after a second. It's as if a solenoid isn't opening or is closing for some reason. Maybe bad thermal fuse?

Thanks for a great video. I keep getting code 11 *after* showers; if I turn the heater off and back on, it works fine for a few hours or a day, and then after a long shower (when the water is turned off), it will show 11 again. I've replaced the ignitor/flame rods, cleaned the fan, and even replaced the entire burner. Now we just cycle it after every shower. Hoping you have any suggestions! Thanks.

This a great video and I want to give it a try. Thank you. Where can I buy nitrogen compressed air and is there a guidance on the pressure settings? (This is going to be my first DIY, I was able to remove and clean the ignitor, and the next step is to use pressured nitrogen air on the inner parts) I see this on Amazon, is it good enough for the job, and what kind of pressure settings I should be using? Thanks again. www.amazon.com/Regulating-Real-time-Monitoring-Conditioner-Evaporator/dp/B09SCWY7TM/ref=sr_1_6?crid=ZJ98K4J6SPWF&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.9UtoLvRwKaTxq6xOKZTokiAcQ7L5Ozr79HUImSseVXObkqA_4bTcq_5QsB-v70-ppLMbwhBIJ8W9kOJ3ogNlEYToBKKoVOmyOcYzfF51Vv9LsOvIOBr9zdRjrUggjo9_NI2Mm-w2QiljpqzTzYOqW01joaDG0URgujsMguy6PTRX6UyBdQSWa5a8xLCkz-_wUC0ArU7cg7xdMmJNS-Iu2NraGjnjdsLRQuAeNXe_CvqGVzZbLEvlbd8rEK6d66LS_uhfgj-Ha6_V_lU0Levj2_MD4jeoWNuIS29j3PgK6KA.p_srDpswQzi7fFl1vtamSEXKKrBmX3kNYZiLV9sTzXk&dib_tag=se&keywords=nitrogen+air+compressor+for+cleaning&qid=1721319761&sprefix=nitrogen+air+compressor+for+cleaning%2Caps%2C156&sr=8-6
