In an age driven by process automation and optimization, it's astonishing how little we utilize the potential of data visualization to automate our thinking. In fact, we may be missing many insights from our data simply because we're not visualizing it.
In this presentation, we will explore how you can save a lot of brain bandwidth by replacing cognition with perception through effective data visualization. Through hands-on chart makeovers, we will learn how to use the features of the human visual system to our advantage, while avoiding common pitfalls. We will go even further and explore how to clearly communicate data to stakeholders and effectively support their decision-making processes using data storytelling methods.
Lastly, we will briefly delve into more advanced data visualization techniques and also discover when it is okay to break the “rules” of effective data viz.
