@@SheikhAmeen I'm running a laptop on Intel Core i3 with upgraded SATA 500gb SSD and unsynchronized 4 and 8 Gbs of RAM one DDR3 one DDR4 and still run just fine also only has Nvidia 920Mx integrated GPU. Plus the main keyboard barely works properly and it still runs fine like I'm opening it and it only took 6 seconds. Though I'm still sad that I can't render videos for my animation side hobby.

I have both Rider and VS 2022. Rider took its sweet time to support .NET 8 and even on Mac, Rider still has not yet figured out Hot Reload for Blazor. We're going to still have to wait longer for the next version of Rider for Hot Reload to be supported. While VS 2022 had it supported from the very beginning. Unfortunately though, VS 2022 is being discontinued on the Mac.

been a .NET developer for 13 years, I'm beginning to see the light regarding VS Code now that I've ditched Windows for PopOs for my personal use. Visual Studio is bloated compared to VS Code, as are the Windows 10/11 operating systems, and many developers likely won't be using any of the features you've mentioned. I still use Visual Studio at work though, WCF api projects and other Windows'y things.

There is another side for the coin. For me it’s bloated with things I don’t really need. So VS Code is a pure plain tool that I configure with things I just need. It’s so open that many other platforms are using it as tool of choice like Angular, Flutter, and more. And it’s a matter of a few megabytes to download and install, not many gigabytes.

For those just learning to code, Visual Studio Code is the way to go. It's lightweight and easy to use. It has all the essentials a beginner needs. Plus I think doing things manually a few times to understand the process is better for learning than having everything automated upfront.

@@snared_ That's enterprise pricing, not individual. And literally the price goes down year over year. If you pay annually, you get an increasing loyalty discount. 3rd year onwards is 40% off. And you can stop paying at any time and keep the version you've paid for for 12 months. Perpetual fall-back license. So you can buy annually once and keep that version forever.
