Their opener bowler and leggie are just too good for a side that turns up to play and have fun. Wouldn't surprise me if they're ringers from their second XI or something. Never really understood why teams insist on filling ''sunday sides'' or 5th XIs or whatever with players who are far better. Completely takes the fun away. One good thing with Sanderstead and their sunday side etc is that they don't mind if a codger/young player goes for 0-60 in 8 or whatever or makes 2 runs from 40 balls.

Thing is, we were unusually weak - the Warlingham side was perfectly acceptable for the sort of side we would normally turn up with.

Sometimes a team just has to go with whoever is available. It's all about game management in this sort of cricket and I think they tried to do that with the bowlers that were brought on in the middle overs.

That was magical. On the less serious side, it was almost perfect Sunday (on a Wednesday) Filth with the return of Axeman Andy only being diluted by Del’s absence! On the flipside, your tribute to your lost friend and club mate was perfectly flighted and very moving. 👏🙌🫶

Love this - thing about most clubs is that they tend to stock a small number of players”standard” beers - we are spoiled at Sanderstead as we have 6 lines - 4 for keg and 2 for cask. I’ve never been to a club with such a range that is not only well kept but well priced. As for your “poem” - er, thanks!😂

I have to seriously question the inclusion of the two Warlingham opening bowlers [and to a lesser extent their leggie] - one in particular; it's would be akin to sticking Richard Hadlee against the Sanderstead firsts - I simply don't know what is achieved by such a skill/quality disparity being used in a game of this nature. Some of your kids, however, display significant potential

Careful with that axe, Eugene, er, I mean Andy. Don't know about the Aussie band but there is a Welsh punk band called Icons of Filth. Formed in 1979, the surviving members - as so many do - decided to reform a few years back. May be a few "icons of filth" in this series of videos!
