Nothing like a good coffee on the trail. Well, every day actually! ;) I use ground coffee, and have a plunger for my jetboil.

Oh so good. Yes I’ve seen those cool pluggers. They look great

Ahhh Kate.. Nothing beats a mini bialetti for coffee on the trail :)

Oh yes. For sure. Have to one in my car camping pack.

I've got the jetboil plunger which fits in my (cheap) 750ml titanium pot. Works nicely and lighter than an aeropress. I'll give the cowboy coffee a try to compare

Get super fine coffee grounds, add to cup (I use level 1Tbsp for a cup, or a heaped one for a mug), pour over just boiled water. Let sit for 2 minutes. Stir, all the coffee grinds will fall to the bottom. (I have my coffee black, but you can add milk and sweetener just before stirring) Boiling your coffee releases the bitter oils contained in the grounds, which is fine if you like the taste but I don’t! It also makes the coffee more acidic.

A bit more bulky to carry but I find the aero press quite straightforward to use, just need to have a cup that it fits onto well :)

I've only attempted cowboy coffee a couple of times previously and was put off by grit. Can't remember what I did (wrong) but tried your method and it definitely works better. I like the simplicity - 'just add coffee'! Thanks! I usually go with filter papers folded straight over mugs. Makes a good cup and is pretty easy and clean. Used Harris bags for a while, way back. Coffee was okay but a bit weak. Also like aeropress. Usually I only take this for road trips and car camping, but for shorter walks why not?
@KateGrarock
@KateGrarock 7 месяцев назад
Oh yes. I try to grind the beans super fine and the double boil. Cold milk helps it settle too. Good luck my friend
@motchev
@motchev 7 месяцев назад
Thanks Kate. Your fine grind and double boil seem to do away with grit. Clever! I haven't tried adding milk as I'm usually happy enough to drink it black in the bush. But I have taken to starting walks with a big milky iced coffee. It's a nice way to get an extra one in without having to stop for a boil up.

Hi Kate, you said your favourite is the Organic (Laughing Pug) but which grind do you get? The espresso?
@KateGrarock
@KateGrarock 17 дней назад
Oh I grind it myself. But the finer the better for the Greek method.

I think the only solution is to carry a larger pack that will accomodate a moka pot and milk steamer!!!! How do you not end up drinking grinds????

wow, ok, must try! I've tried the GSI drip but find the water goes through too fast. Was thinking of trying a filter in it too but this seems as simple as you get! Will be interesting to see how fine the hand grinder can go 🤔 Cool backing track too!

Love the taste of the drip bags, but only seem to make half a cup. I find myself using two of the Vittoria bags, or Moccona espresso instant just to get a decent mug full. :)

can you tell me is the coffee ground fine, eg drip coffee or turkish grind fine? also time, just bring to the boil twice? like cowboy coffee i know some people simmer for say 3 min but is that too long
@KateGrarock
@KateGrarock 7 месяцев назад
Yeah I just do a double boil. I find that’s enough. I grind it as small as I can on my breville barista home coffee machine. I say the smaller you get it the better
