Barbara Stanwyck, had the most unique way, in her acting. She was a strong, independant, woman. She could certainly hold her own, on the big screen and/or on TV. The Big Valley, showed her to be just that woman. Mother of sons and a daughter. Blair lady played her daughter. WAS IT LINDA BLAKE OR BLAIR, the one who played on the night soap (DALLAS) in the 80'S. Stanwyck, truly had a not-so-good-life, growing up. I admire her for what she accomplished. She wasn't one of those stars who thought they were talented -- she WAS! Angelina Jolie COULD NEVER HOLD A CANDLE to such a great actress, AS STANWYCK!! Jolie and her tough role playing -- got the men's attention, more so, than the women. Barbara Stanwyck got both men & women's attention. She was well preceived by many: her fans, cridits, producers, directors, other actors/actresses, etc. She had that special something. She never took her career for granted. It's a good thing she didn't turn down scripts, the way some did. Because those who've had to struggle most their lives -- well, women like that learn how hard life can really be. She wasn't born with a golden spoon in her mouth. She worked very hard. She is my favorite classic acttress'. Always has been and always will be. Betty Davis was too. Another strong, independent woman.
What legends are made of: Stanwyck's performance is timeless, the chap is trapped in the aspic of the early 1930's. Now go check out her monologue in The Thornbirds. One hell of a long and great career.

@@davidpar2 I don't think you should take depictions of sexual misconduct from a movie from the 30s as necessarily a good source on how these things actually go down. They're much more violent, and involve men with power and money capable of destroying a woman's life.
Maybe it was to portray an "easy woman" cause she is playing a prostitute and generally that would be seen as taboo/unsightly for a woman. I have to disagree though she looks like she's wearing a 20s-30s style bra which is more like a bralette today or a natural regular t shirt bra, made to flatter the natural form not a constructed one. No points not stiff just like our bras.

This old film are boring asf . All this nerds talking like this is great ... old movies where faked . They hide a lot of emotion of how people in real life really felt . Now movies are more open minded or the producer what ever they are more open minded and they have the courage to show humans real emotions . Tell it how it is . Back then is was more of an status thing . But this nerds want to talk like they know about film just because they watch old shit and talk about the new movies like they the worst things ever invented .
