Jesus man... you are hands down the most inspirational woodworker I've ever seen. You don't know me and most likely never will. However, you saved my life... As a total disabled vet after my last combat deployment in Afghanistan, I found myself depressed, mad, sad, and hopeless. I had just lost my entire career by almost dying in a country that didn't want us there, following orders that didn't help anyone, all to defend freedoms for Americans who many don't honor, respect, nor even care about. The same freedoms that so many have died protecting. So I was medically evacuated back to America and was told by the army that I was no longer fit to serve and after a year of rehab and medical procedures, I was sent home to hang up my boots. I felt so lost. I had extreme PTSD, and injuries that completely altered my life. Brother, when I tell you I was on the edge.... I was already 1 foot off the edge and starting to lean forward. One night after waking from a nightmare, I turned on RU-vid and started scrolling. That's when I came across one of your videos. Intrigued, I clicked on it. I was spellbound. Completely mesmerized. INSPIRED. Like a fire being lit in my heart, I wanted to learn. I studied for 6 months reading books and watching videos. 6 months before I bought my first tool or piece of wood. My wife saw a passion in me that she thought died in Afghanistan. Like a madman, I devoured every bit of woodworking knowledge I could get my hands on. That was a few years ago. I'm still alive because of you and that video (and of coursemy wife and son), I have a hobby because of you, I have something to keep my mind busy during bad PTSD spells because of you. I am FAR from a great woodworker, hell I wouldn't even say I'm a good one, but I am constantly learning all I can to get better. I'm very slowly acquiring tools as I come across deals or find them at a goodwill or Craigslist. (The pension for a disabled vet is just enough to pay bills and keep my family fed. So I save what dollars I can to get tools as I save enough) I don't even know if you'll read this, but if you do, I just wanted to say THANK YOU for all that you have done for me. It's a very tough time right now because my wife is deployed to the middle east and with everything going on my PTSD is worse than ever. I'm staying positive because I know I'll get through this storm and I have a hobby that allows me to turn my brain off and allows me to hyper focus on different tasks that I enjoy. Thank you so much. I pray that you have the most success and for good health for you and your family!
Murdock, I saw your comment. Read the whole thing. THANK YOU! Thank you for serving. And tell your wife the same when she gets home. Hug your child. And do us all a favor. Please, do not ever forget that you are worth as much as any other person on the planet. God loves you. And I'll be praying for you, along with all of my relatives that have served and those that still are down range. Take care. Be safe.
I had a comment for and to this bench project, but now, after reading your whole comment(s) here, I have nothing to say, but THANK YOU! I am a 'senior' Canadian citizen, and I now have a 'tiny' idea of what our ( Canadian ) Service men and women have gone ( and are still going ) through as well. I am so very thankful that folks like you have done so very much for us,..... again I say, THANK YOU, ALL. Building projects like this are in fact, one of the best medicines people can take. ( no, I am not ignoring the fact that 'The Dusty Lumber Co' is part of the 'solution' here )
My story can't compare to yours, but I'm also disabled, with Cerebral Palsy. After retiring from Engineering at 58, I needed to do something to occupy myself. I started woodworking with basic tools. I'll never be able to match the level of productivity like we see here, but I still feel the same satisfaction when finishing a project or a request for someone else. They may not know why I take so much time initially, but they realize it in the end. Good luck in your builds; of wood and self-esteem.
I thoroughly enjoy watching all of these videos. Not just because of amazing pieces made but also for the precision and “clicks” and “clacks” when it’s sped up.
традиционно великолепное исполнение. шикарные станки и инструменты. ты Великий Мастер. живи долго, работай много. жду новых видео. с Уважением из России
The algorithm keeps suggesting this video, and I keep watching it, as I peruse the comments. It gets kinda old seeing haters dogging Dusty for his shop and his tools. I don't know for 100% certain, but I'm pretty certain his fairy godmother didn't just show up and drop it all in his lap, then pat his cheek and float off to wherever fairy godmothers go. I'm pretty certain that revenue from these phenomenal builds he is generous enough to share with us gave him the wherewithal to build this fantasy shop. I have most of the skills. I have tools adequate to the task. I could build this table...but it would take me longer than seventeen minutes. That is where Dusty shines. Shows us enough technique to fire up our imagination. Uses tools we mostly all have...arm saws seem to have gone out of favor, but I have lugged one around thru seven moves in 35 years because they are so dang versatile. Do we all have King and Festool. Probably not. But most of us have what we need to accomplish what just happened here. We just gotta git out and start the process.
I hope everyone watching appreciates the amount of time involved in set up and proper jig making. It's all the preparation and thinking time beforehand that makes this process appear so easy. I assure that it is not. Not to mention, having the machinery available to accomplish all this is a dream to most of us. As always, nice job, Dusty.
He makes it look so easy. I really appreciate his desire to pass his craft onto others through his videos with the detailed explanations of what he is doing.
@@EdFhvn, where did you get in my comment I thought I could do that? My goodness! I could take 4 pieces of wood with all the jigs, guards and fences and still get 5 different lengths of wood. I'm just amazed at His craftsmanship. He is very good at what he does, with or without the fancy tools.
@@EdFhvn, as to his revenue from subscribers, he has that many because he is good at what he does and people who work with wood can learn new techniques watching his videos. I would be interested to find out how much he made off that coffee table he just finished. You won't find something like that at Ikea. I doubt I could afford it. He makes money from his videos but his work pays him plenty as well. There is no shame in any of that.
That is not a coffee table…. It is a master piece…. If someone put a coffee on that table I would be on the news and not in a good way hahaha….. absolutely beautiful and joinery that could never be beat …. Thank you for sharing…. Truly an amazing craftsman…. 😊
I've watched all your videos for over a year now. You never cease to amaze me with your creativity, skills and amazing machinery. Just to spend a day learning from you and and using those phenomenal tools would be unforgettable. Your craftsmanship is what keeps me watching, keep these videos coming.
I used to watch Norm Abram and the New Yankee Workshop back in the day on PBS. His builds inspired me to build an English bar with coffered ceiling, rec room and theatre in my basement, but I digress. There was something soothing in that programming that I’ve been missing. Think I have found it here on RU-vid with the Dusty Lumber Co!
Lovely build - and no accuracy problems using a plastic ruler and not a $250 woodpeckers rule…. I learned joinery on a radial arm saw as a kid - versatile machine but glad I’m not ripping 8x4 sheets on it anymore.
No matter what the equipment is, still one has to be able to use it. The way you do makes some people think it´s easy... that´s only because of your skills. The man behind the tools makes all the difference. Perfect job!
I admire your works when you make real joints with minimal glue.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Я восхищаюсь вашими работами, когда вы делаете настоящие соединения с минимальным использованием клея.
Dude you do some bad ass work !! I love the complex joinery with the big lumber !! No clue what kind of other stuff you do but with your joinery technique you could build a bad ass outdoor kids hobby house that when they put grow it doubles as a tool/ equipment shed , with your style, doing Victorian era would be amazing , your crafty enough to do it with joinery that requires screws or lags or whatever and if you did need nuts and bolts you could make big ass wooden ones !! Sorry got carried away !! You do amazing work boss !!
My word. I nearly teared up watching this. Thank you so much for sharing what you do with the world. I live in Alaska and have been slowly trying to build a handi-capable cabin, as such i have recently come to find out that woodworking isn't easy by any means. I'll never be able to recreate what you do but it is absolutely amazing seeing an experienced tradesman at work, so thank you again.
❤ , instead of seeing the project my eyes were taken up by the power and beauty of your machinery, you are really committed all the dollars are being put to work, I have been inspired.
Wow, amazing! This piece of art is like something you build in a workshop, learning different types of joinery and still create a beautiful, practical piece of furniture.
Amazing to watch so many modern and expensive woodworking machine, and how he is using those Machines. And the table he built, it made of big and thick wood. Must be very strong and durable.
By god Dusty that is a total work of art brother. Absolutely a delight watching the shorts in this build then it all at once...sweet work! The one man Dusty bandit strikes again!!
Simply stunning work. Don’t understand the glue…. The joints are so tight a 6 engine locomotive couldn’t pull them apart. Your work is such fun to watch. I love watching true craftsman doing amazing work like this. Please don’t stop showing us your amazing skills.
Dude, I just have to say, u r absolutely the best Skilled Master Craftsman I have seen. I luv just watching you put things together n I luv ur pieces. I wish I could afford ur tools n to take classes from you!!! Amazing!
Nice build. Love your work. I learned cabinet making from a few old-world Hungarian cabinet makers when I was young. You one of the few who uses those techniques. Fantastic.
Dude really? Just when I was getting all jazzed up about my own stuff, I came across your channel. I'll never get even close to this level but I am definitely inspired. Some of the best joinery I've ever seen and the outstanding video work makes it even better. I'm sure you designed this too. If you were a rock band I'd be a groupie; As Wayne and Garth would say, "we're not worthy". Thank you for the quality video, you da man! - Joe in Portland
Can I use the term….. YOU NAIL IT????To say that you are excellent is a gross understatement. You are absolutely amazing. If I could see your masterpieces in a gallery or museum ???Thank you so Much for sharing. Jose from Melbourne Australia.
