A friend of mine called me really excited to tell me a story that had happened.
Awhile ago -- in “Christmas Past” -- she was at a gas station and the Lord told her to give $20 to someone in a car nearby. She started to rationalize it in her head and ultimately waited too long and the car drove away. She told the Lord she was sorry, as she’d been asking Him to use her, and asked Him to give her another chance.
Fast forward to “Christmas Present” -- she was in the parking lot at Wal-Mart when a lady walked out with a full shopping cart and she got that nudge from the Lord that said, “Give $20 to that lady.” Immediately she started to rationalize again, but then recalled asking the Lord to give her another chance. This time she took action and gave the lady the money. The lady was so delighted, and my friend was so blessed by allowing the Lord to use her.
There are four things I learned from this story.
First, we’ve all been there. The Lord tells us to do something and maybe we freeze up or think of ourselves. This is a reminder to look outside ourselves and obey God.
Second, be careful what we pray for because we might just get it. So often we ask the Lord to use us, but when He does we freak out. The devil will fight you. Each time God uses you the devil will try to stop you from spreading the light.
Third, there’s nothing better than obeying God.
Fourth, God will always give us another chance to reach out and tell someone about Jesus when we ask Him to.
