The same thing happened to me around the same age when my paternal grandmother passed away. Hers was the first funeral I ever attended. There was no preparation, so it was pretty overwhelming. I loved my grandmother dearly and thought that she appeared to be breathing also, but it seemed like it was only once or twice. I will never forget that.

One time I was at the funeral home. Been there many times thru the years. And the undertaker was in his office talking to a family. All of a sudden I couldn’t breathe. It felt like I was taking my last breath. I turned around and got out of there. There was a spirt there that day. Haven’t been back.

U may have had one. I suffer from them myself. They arrive outta nowhere. U lost a loved one. That's a trauma to the system. U were reacting to what happened probably. See ur doctor, and tell him/her. Mine began after I buried my mother. Abt a yr or 2 later. I'm in therapy now. It seems to help, but b careful. They can still come back.

When you mentioned the flag in the triangle, it reminded me of something that I ran across a few years ago. I live in a very small, rural Alabama town, and was at our local thrift store when I saw a dirty, wobbly, triangle case with a dirty flag in it, with the mans name and rank on the little nameplate. I asked the owner how he ended up with it and he said it was with a contents of a house that was donated by the adult children when their mother died. All of their belongings were donated, the kids wanted nothing sentimental. Even the mans medals were donated. He had checked with the family to make sure they knew those things were there. It was on the sale shelf by mistake, as he had planned on trying to find a respectful place for it and I offered to do that for him. He gave me the case with the medal and the case and flag (no charge) and I took it home and washed and ironed the flag, my husband repaired the case and we polished it. He was an Eagle scout when he was young so he knew how to fold it back to fit, and we did. I polished the purple heart in the case and then took it to the drugstore, where the manager is in a veteran's motorcycle club and asked him who would take it and treat it with respect. He was pretty ticked that the family threw it out and said if I didnt mind he would take it and they would display it at the clubhouse by other memorabilia.

Mary Hildreth I’m sure that hero would be so thankful you and your husband showed so much respect for his sacrifice. The fact that you, as a stranger, showed so much more respect than his family is heartbreaking to me. My cousin was killed in Afghanistan on May 19, 2002 and I can’t tell you what his flag and medals meant to us. Thank you for your compassion!

WOW! God Bless you for doing this. It blows my mind how disrespectful the new generation is towards elders. That little respect for their father's service. The little ingrates should be slapped and walked through Auschwitz then have them look at their father's sacrifice! Makes me sick to my stomach! They will answer to God for their disrespectful actions. Thank you for your TLC!

This little angel looks absolutely alive! They have taken pictures of her many times and people say she opens and closes her eyes all the time. It is said it is an optical (no pun intended) illusion from the light, but it is unreal how perfect she looks. The Embalmer knew this little one and took tender care doing her for her parents. No one knew his methods or what fluids he used, then he died so it is a mystery. She is only 2 yrs old when she died, and has the most beautiful blond curls and a pink bow.

I have not been able to catch you live for awhile know. But one question I have wanted to ask you is: What is your most memorable (funny) funeral? When I was in the Military Honor Guard, I presented the flag to the widow and our CD player (We did not have a bugler, just a CD with Taps) start wailing "Highway to Hell". After the service I apologized to the widow and she laugh, she said she thought it was part of the service, because that was her husbands favorite song.

My great cousin died in 2006 of cancer, and I could have SWORN he was still breathing but when I walked up to his casket and touched his chest, I didnt feel anything, no heartbeat, no air, in fact he felt rigid... I remember thinking maybe what I was seeing was the embalming fluid in his chest but it could have really been my mind too

9:53 thank you SO MUCH for answering this question!!! I had to bury my sweet brother who was 6'10" a couple years ago and I couldn't even think straight. I was so worried that they would break his legs to fit him in the casket.. it's bothered me a long time. He was in a closed casket, no visitation bc he was so badly decomposed in a warm apartment with open window. I found him. 🥺

A former friend of mine told me his uncle told the entire family that when he died he would wink at everyone. Till during the funeral he thought he saw his uncle wink. He thought his mine was playing tricks on him. Till after wards he said to another family member what he thought he saw. His other family member said they saw the same thing. So who knows.

Dear Kari, My father passed away almost 2 years ago; at the viewing I noticed what looked like blood had run where the lips are sutured and glued shut they didn't bother to clean it off they just left it there it looked terrible! I have a question. I have pre-paid for my disposition....which is traditional cremation. I was wondering if I could have a water cremation, even though I didnt request this. The money is in a trust with a Funeral Home in Minnesota. That state allows water cremation, but Iowa doesn't. I moved to Iowa in March 2020. I would just pay the difference or would I have to have to repay for the water cremation and new contract? Thsnk you. Randy L. Fritz This contract was written up in 2010.

I would guess you’d need to talk to a Local Funeral director. Are you going to be taken back to Minnesota for services or Buried in Iowa? If so, you’d have to have transit permits to cross State lines, extra expenses for travel ect... It’s different in each State honestly. I would talk to a Funeral director where you live now. I’m in Ohio so I don’t know much about other States.
