Unpopular Opinion - The A Voice Within era of Intervals, is my favorite. Been a fan of the band since very early on. Seen them at least 8 times, and when Mike Semesky joined (I first saw him play bass for them), it was so fresh. AVW is still one of my favorite albums ever, and Mike is top 5 vocalists for me.

Sithu Aye is one of my favorite musicians. I hope he comes back to south Florida soon!

Saw Intervals in Download (UK) a few weeks back, they really impressed me and stuck out amongst the heaps of bands you see over those 3 days.

I discovered both of these bands in the last couple years thanks to Spotify's algorithms, and their catalogues are almost always in my frequent rotation. Nice to learn their backstories! Also, hoping to catch them touring SoCal either this year or next. :)

I think my favorite part about listening to this type of music, is that even the bands/ artists just hang out with each other on occasion as well. must be nice to have friends :^)

My band Outwaves actually opened for that Palladium show with Veil of Maya. You guys sounded absolutely fantastic. I left Berklee in 2009 and am so jealous that ensembles like that exist now. Lol

When you guys talked about who writes a book, producer Paul O’Neill came to mind. He wrote a Broadway play that was repurposed into Savatage Streets A Rock Opera. In the 90s he released 3 concept albums, Savatage Streets, Savatage Wake of Magellan, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra Beethoven’s Last Night.

I like when artists try some new things. I think a lot of fans are cool with that now ‘cause we’ve come from when online known artists got to their second or third album and got well known and they changed up their sound (usually somewhat heavy metal or heavier pop) and got what people called softer or more industry style while still having a little bit of who they are. Which used to bother fans of every type of music. Now we’re used to that probably happening that we are more open to change. Not completely, but more people are. Plus a lot of fans are music nerds or are just a general fan who pays attention to each difference that each artist/band has. So we just want quality. Another thing is that the music world got saturated with so much rushed music from artists (either it was industry forced or a rushed mistake), that fans are ok with artists taking a while to write a perfect song or changing up their sound. This isn’t for all genres of fans, but it’s becoming better. Like with Sithu Aye taking a while to release his music. I know it’s gonna be worth it. His previous releases are so wonderful, that I have enough music from him, but anymore music from his is just adding more to what I’m gonna be listening to for ever.

I love the interview as a whole but I feel as if Aaron constantly ends his points in asserting himself. Sithu is more like: "Less is more". When he says something he's really thought about what words he's spewing out and how he might be percieved. Interesting being reminded that people are so different, especially in such a niche music scene. Love the work, Jonathan.

Hey Ola! Fellow EE Drop-out turned Musician. Hopefully you can use this for the next FAQ. I am currently working as an Electronics Engineer but have been playing in a few bands, some of which are getting to the point that our touring schedules are going to interfere with my work. My hope is to start making some guitar amplifiers and rack modules (some are pretty cool so far). How did you make the decision to pursue music professionally? Did you make sure you had enough savings to help during time off? What did you do for work when your earlier projects were not touring? Cheers from Pennsylvania!
