This was so so so enjoyable to watch! And all the unintended quotes you dropped there like "I enjoy you guys" (I enjoy you too Ruth!) and "Go make mistakes!" Fantastic! Can't wait for the Tunisian Headband to make an appearance cause it's gorgeous and was absolutely thinking of my own blanket shawl when you mentioned that about the I95! Thanks for podcasting, I'll just patiently await a next one, no rush. And am with you stash enjoyment 2021! 💜 Marieke, Solace in Stitches

Wow, Ruth, you had so much to show off and talk about! I wanted to comment on every single project, but now I can't remember all of the things I wanted to say. I should have taken notes, but I was busy knitting. Ha! I love the ways you have chosen to reimagine your UFOs. Your skirt is going to be amazing and I am so impressed that you were able to take something that made you feel sad and turn it into a garment that will make you smile, instead. Great job!!!

Thank you! I definitely had a lot more than usual this time. I like the way you've framed the skirt - taking an unhappy project and making it a happy one - that's it exactly!

Loved your honesty.

Thank you! I do my best to share how I feel and think honestly; it may not be the best marketing strategy, but i'd rather be honest than sell things that don't need to be sold or promote a lifestyle I don't want to be in.

OMG, I am so here for the Knitting Ted Talk. Some of my favorite designers are ones who give you "permission" to veer off course sort of speak (I hope that made sense). I can knit/crochet it as designed or take the design inspiration and go from there. I am curious, what is the reason for your dislike of rolled brim?
@OrchardHouseEditing
@OrchardHouseEditing 3 года назад
Yes! I love it when people modify and adapt. The curiosity and the questions lead to such rewarding projects. As far as the rolled brims, it irks me that they don’t stay in place. I constantly want to roll them down to lie flat and they don’t.

Ruth, I am sitting here and watching you, listening to how you view your stash, etc., I just want to weep. Why? Because I feel the SAME WAY! I cannot enjoy my yarn when I am feeling total overwhelm. I, also, am doing a yarn ban of sorts. I am resolved not to buy any acrylic yarn this year.I am narrowing my sights on natural plant and wool blends ONLY - and then, only if I need it for a design I need to finish. I plan on doing a yarn room tour, if you'd like to see. Anyway. I realize that you are more of a knitting designer, but I'm sure you go through the same processes as a crochet designer would. I would LOVE to chat with you at some point if that's possible. You can reach out to me any time.

It's so important to have your stash at a point that you enjoy it instead of feeling overwhelmed by it! I'd love to see your yarn room tour! I'm about 65:35 knitting:crochet design - I swing back and forth between which one i'm focused on, so i'm sure we go through many similar processes!

as a booooooobed person I simply cannot wear "normal" sweaters. Every single thing I make for myself is customised. I take a pattern, draw what and where needs to change to fit the booooooooooobage, duck feet, calves of consequence, short-short fingers etc. Learning how to make other people's designs my own was the most important thing I've ever done for my crochet and knitting skills I happily knit for others (on my own terms - i.e. no time frame) *especially* if they have difficulty finding RTW stuff, for example last year I've knitted gloves for a person who has hands narrower than my 8-11yo kids but fingers longer than my husband. Yes, you deserve clothes that fit properly and I can make you those and I love you enough to actually do that.

I’m 100% with you on the learning to modify! It’s such an important skill to have.

I don’t get the chance to sit down and talk like this very often, so I’m not surprised you didn’t know! The headband will release some time in the new year, I still have to get it tech edited and tested. I’m glad you like it! It’s definitely very warm and comfy.

@@OrchardHouseEditing just to know ( and in case of) how can you select your testers?

@@jessicamp857 I have an email list - I send out an email when I have a new pattern ready for testing. There's a link in my Instagram bio - I don't want to put the link here lest I end up with a lot of spam emails.

I have determined to unsubscribe to all of the newsletters that announce deals and sales. That helps with the temptations.
@OrchardHouseEditing
@OrchardHouseEditing 3 года назад
That definitely helps! I know for sure that sometimes I click on the click-bait even though i'm planning to work from stash, so i've done a lot of un subscribing also.
