Hooray for getting back behind the camera! I always love to hear you chat about your projects, inspirations, tricks and skills. That crochet-knit shawl looks wonderful!
I'm a new SUBBIE!!! I've seen one of your Video Vlogs a few weeks ago. But you popped up on my home feed this morning. So, I subscribed to your channel. ❤❤❤ I've heard of yarns with many plys that have color 1-ply change at a time. Such a great idea. I like it when gradients change nicely. Love your crochet/knit combo piece. I don't knit. But I LOVE your idea to make a scarf with both ends that get smaller!!! It seems like such an obviously good idea!!! But I've never seen it done, or tried it! I LOVE your videos!!! I've never liked Video Vlogs before. But I LOVE ❤️ YOURS!!! You are such a great knitter & crocheter!!! You amaze me at your talent. I can tell you are also VERY SMART!!! Somehow,...I just love hearing your videos!!!! TFS!!! Austin TX USA
Hi Barbara! What a happy message for me to see as the first comment! Thank you for watching and chatting 🥰 I’m happy to hear you love all the projects and I’m so glad that RU-vid brought you back for this video! I haven’t been making many, so it’s quite the feat that you saw this 😁
Working on bump-free crescent shawl. Started with row 1 making a 50-stitch chain, increasing on both sides at end of each row, 2x dc in first and last 3 stitches of each row, beginning with double chain up that counts as 1 of 2 dc's. Entire shawl made with wide dc stitch (goes fast) #4 yarn and J hook. Just a prototype to get shape right. I'm about 5 rows from finished. (Have a knitted scarf that I really like, and just wanted to make a crochet version. )
Thank you for sharing. This is helpful but it would be easier to follow if you could narrate the steps as you’re crocheting them. Hard to watch what you’re doing and read the captions at the same time.
Hi Jill, yep, this is just a stockinette sock. You knit around every round until you come to the heel. There won’t be any purling except for the short rows in the heel.
@@JillRyder if it’s not coming out looking like the video, feel free to shoot me an email or DM me on Instagram with a picture. On Instagram, I am at OrchardHouseediting, or the email is contact at orchardhouseediting.com.
Neither. You’re working one stitch less each row until you have about 1/3 of the stitches remaining unwrapped in the center, then you work one more stitch per row until you’re back to the starting point.
I have a question about the sock pattern as far as so many inches before your heel now is that two-and-a-half in before your heel of your foot actually would start or two-and-a-half in prior to the heel start
So you measure your entire foot length, then knit the sock to 2.5” less than your foot length before beginning the heel. So if your foot is 9.5” long, you’d knit to 7” before working the heel. Does that help?
Yes I absolutely helps thank you so much I have another question since you responded so quickly in regards to doing a knee-high sock with this pattern do I need to do any increases I do not have wide legs in fact they're actually pretty skinny because I am wheelchair-bound thus I just wanted to have some knee-highs is this something that is applicable with the same amount of stitches that I've already done or can I had some stitches and then do a decrease before the cuff
@@shielasmith9583 so it’s going to depend on the size different from your calves to ankles. If it’s not too much of a difference you might be able to get away with minimal-to-no increasing. If you have like..2” or more difference, you can try them on as you go and do some increases centered on the back of the leg (the center of the heel) and then decrease a bit before the top cuff. Ribbing is also your friend with knee socks- make sure you have a nice tall cuff to help hold them up!
I still don’t understand why it matters. I have knit for years this way without knowing I was doing it “wrong.” I have made a number of knit items (scarves, sweaters with cables) wrapping my purl stitches clockwise and have not had a problem. The stockinette doesn’t look bad to me. I can’t tell the difference. Is there some situation that this style can mess up the pattern?
It’s not wrong to purl that way, it’s just a different style of knitting. As long as you knit through the back loop to straighten it out, you’re good to go. The reason it could cause an issue is because when it’s knit in the round it can cause twisting in the fabric. Also, it makes the stitches lay flat one row and twisted the next. If you like it and you’re happy with it, no need to change anything.
You lost me at “do something 4 times” so idk if you stopped and did 3 rows or soemthing or if that’s what we where doing together… it’s like 7:54 I was following along and now I quit. Is it one stick each a total of 3? Anyway idk. I quit bye ✌️
Ok, it sounds like you’ve decided to take a break, so I won’t bother you with trying to explain. If you decide you want to try again, feel free to come back and ask.
I have watched a few different videos on how to twist a hank of yarn, and this is by far the most helpful & easiest to follow!! Thank you so much for this upload ❤️
I love that linen stitch cowl! If you don't publish it, I will likely try to hack it at some point because it looks super cozy and I live in cowls! Good luck with the poncho! Before you mentioned it, I was wondering if you were going to use the 2 rectangle method of construction 😂. I made one using that construction for a knit poncho. Isn't there some method of like, soaking the woven fabric and "working" it (kind of like kneading it) to relax everything?? I feel like I read something in The Martha Years (Laura Ingalls great-grandma's series I think) as a kid where they were doing that... But idk how that actually works or anything 😂😂
I have been watching your podcast (now vlog) since the beginning. I love watching your journey and Insta is hard to get ideas to come across clearly. The blanket is amazing.

Omg, thank goddess that you made this, an actually visible instruction on the zoom loom. I love your choice of yarn, I too have umpteen skeins of variegated sock yarn that will be perfect for this. Love the color combo on this one.
hi what kind of projects do you work on?.. are you more of a knitting needles? or a knitting loom? i do pretty much everything but big projects such as clothes or animals , mainly potholders, dishcloths, EVERYTHING BUT CLOTHES , AMIGOURMI, AND FINGER OR ARM KNITTING
Hiya! My current projects are the ones in this video ☺️ I don’t use a knitting loom, but I know many people enjoy it. I love that you’re trying everything!
Congratulations on your first socks! I'm glad you enjoyed them. I don't block my socks because wearing them will form them to your feet. It's not like a garment where you'll have too-short sleeves without blocking. If you decide to block then yes, you would need sock blockers.
