Thanks for covering this in this way guys. I do have a bone to pick. They are found by the dozen in chambers smaller than this... the idea they sometimes come across each other and move on is just wrong. Also, they live in brick walls in the wild. Is it ugly? Yes. Do the geckos care? Nope. Thanks for the love homies!
Hmm who do we trust? 4 goofballs on sofa who think their cool having some reptiles , or some one who's had as much experience and gained as much knowledge as you ? I Don't see these guys going to Madagascar with other top hobbiests to further their knowledge .
We have had 3 leopard geckos “females” living together for at least 7 years not one single issue But it’s a 75 gallon with lots of hides The come eat together and have never once been aggressive towards each other and we regularly see them hanging out together
Leopard geckos are social just as much as Tokay Gecko. I grew up and still live with Tokay Geckos in my house and I always have pairs even up to 4 Tokay Geckos (different sizes) living together in one space in the kitchen even though there's literally a large space around the house that they can keep distance from each other with exact potential of food and temperature gradient. I even witnessed three geckos attacking a single snake as a defense when it went near their territory. Also, I have 7 years of experience keeping ang breeding Leopard geckos while I cohab 2 or 3 females in a tote like US breeders without issues. Now I have outdoor enclosures for my Leopard Geckos now. Those that are creating drama doesn't really have enough experience that's why they hate without understanding. Note: Not a fan of WWR and he has done a few errors on the video but the drama is just too much for what it really is.
Keeping in captivity is completely different from the wild. You can’t recreate the conditions of the wild in a 4x2. If these were dogs being put in danger we would think about this differently.
Based upon the news articles, the onset of severe symptoms from the recent gila monster bite incident was immediate. That certainly suggests an allergic reaction.
I would like to find out who sets the industry standards? I mean if we’re going by that they can live in a 10 gallon enclosure their whole life. I think the standards are set for the uninformed Kepler who buys a pet on a whim. The facts are according to biologists the geckos live in loose groups ( whatever that means) in a 1ft area of a wall of ledges I can say personally I rescued 2 female geckos that were living in a 10 gallon enclosures I promptly separated them into their own enclosures and both geckos stopped eating so I built them a bio active 32x18x18 with several hides and put them back together and 5 years later they are thriving and though they have areas to separate from each other they are always together. So my question then becomes do we only do the industry( who ever that is ) only or do we do what is best for the individual animals??? Regardless of the standards
Government overreach is a real thing. Check dog and cat laws. It means the government can come into your home without legal cause and take your animals. We need better internal control. Government also equals more people going underground, and that is a real conversation.
If you look at Reptile and Research youtuber, he goes through the Research and explains about how they live in the wild and get along with each other and about including males and numbers etc He explains that they fight over food, water etc but if you provide enough food and water and places to hide then there is a good chance they won't fight as they don't need to
Bro you're killin me🤣🤣 This was a good discussion that showed the different areas people are coming from. If people want more context they know where to go😜
As an animal behaviourist, I think it is not necessarily true to assume that the animals "don't care" about being with others. Leopard geckos have been shown to live in colonies (with only one male per colony, like lions). They will seek each other out to sleep in a group. This means that they feel some sort of benefit from it - perhaps an increased sence of security. So, as long as they have enough opportunity to avoid each other if they want to - and in this regard Adam's set-up had more than twice as many hides as geckos, it is not necessarily a bad idea to give the geckos the option of group living. I also think enclosure size can be a bit of a red herring. The complexity of the environment makes a huge amount of difference, not just to how much of the space is usable for the animal, but also to how much privacy and independence the animal can experience. Imagine being forced to live in your school's gym/sports hall with five other people... Now imagine living in a shared building, exactly the same size as the sports hall, that has been divided up into two stories with 12 rooms. Which would feel bigger and which would seem more stressful if you wanted your privacy? Adam provided a super complex environment for those geckos - that's why it's not particularly attractive, because it doesn't have a big open floor area with climbing opportunities around the edges, like most “nice” enclosures -( because the owners want to easily view their animals). It was a super complex, multi-story fun park for geckos (who couldn't care less whether it's a brick or a stone, btw...). Here's a paper from a Pakistani scientist about the communal living habits of leopard geckos: www.researchgate.net/publication/304381063_leopard_gecko_Eublepharis_macularious_from_Pakistan
On the new locality of green anaconda it has a 5% genetic diversity from the other locality is similar to the difference between a normal human and a normal chimpanzee
His tank was a total mess. Outside sticks just thrown in the tank 🫣. Six Leo’s in a tank is too much. In the Wild they can escape a tense situation but not in a tank. His advice saying Just have fun is horrible. Just be responsible and be a good pet owner. He’s arrogant and won’t admit he’s wrong. How about cramming six people in a room to live together and see what happens.
My business partner that does our all natural crested gecko diet lives in Germany. They have a law enclosure size must be 3x the animals length, I believe Britain and other countries in Europe is like that as well
Hi Guy's! The people that an issue with Adam are people who are just looking to have something to say. the young lady who said that she doesn't criticize cont. creators, but yet she did so she lost her credibility. And the six geckos are brothers and sisters so that is good. Adam did not do anything that, was wrong. and none of the animals were in danger. or harmed.
