When I turn the steering wheel the coil moves with the hub, but the spring on top binds up and when enough pressure is built up it turns and makes a loud Panging noise. Happens only when under load
I have the same popping sounds with raceland coils on my 06 impreza, my mechanic dont even know how to fix it but he said its just annoy, it wont hurt anything so im like ok whatever fukit
Omg that's my issue noise. I've been running bc coils for about 3 years and this issue has gotten terrible now. Does this just need lubrication or do the entire springs need changing?
I’m having that issue now about 4 months into my coils being installed. I’m hearing lubricant and readjusting the preload does the trick. Going to try today and let you know
I wrapped some insulation tape around the part of the top strut bolt that inserts into the pillow ball. It has solved the memory nearly fully. This is a good video because it actually proves coil binding does not necessarily occur due to contact between the loops of the spring but rather due to contact between the top of the spring and top hat or mount.
When driving over bumps, I had a noise coming from the front passenger side pillow ball top mount. I jacked up the car on the driver's side allowing the other side spring to compress. I then used an air gun to tighten the passenger side top mount center nut. Though everything is fine, when I turn left using 3 quarter's turn of the steering wheel, the car pulls to the left when in a straight line until I steer 3 quarter's to the right. Oiling the pillow balls helps reduce the noise.but the springs should not snap like. Any feedback on a fix would be greatly appreciated!
Angel Martinez I had the same issue on my cheap coilovers I bought. I was never able to find an answer for it. I just said whatever. Hopefully you get an answer because I’m curious myself.
Subaru WRX well the research I've done and plus the information I got from the alignment shop. Is on a 99-04 Mustang of any model cobra Mach 1 gt etc. I guess the coilovers hits the inside of the body. We checked it out and it's my spring that is hitting the body, right where the coil over top bolt go inside that "tunnel". So I've heard that for mustangs from 99-04 since they have a MacPherson strut design (this design is we're the strut is connecting to the front wheel axle.) Since the stut is turning with the wheels , it will result the coil or coilover assembly to hit the body of the wheel well right inside the "strut tunnel" this happens because 1. Cheap coil overs don't fit properly 2. The mustang wasn't design to have a coil over set up. Originally it had a strut and a spring that sat on the lower control arm. So the only way to fix it , is to grind or hit the strut tunnel with a hammer or grinder. That way you can make clearance for the coilover. Then you will have free movement and that should take away the binding popping noise. Not sure how your setup is on the WRX or the car you have them installed. so I hope this helps. Also my coilovers require body modifications because with out it, my camber will only align to -2 degrees and will not allow the pillow ball mount on the top mount of the strut, to move freely.
I fixed it on my 8th gen civic si sitting on truhart coils by lubricating the the top ball joint with WD-40, has that annoying issue for months for such a simple fix
@@oull spray it on there but you actually should use a similar grease type of lube, but it take a while for it to stop, WD-40 will fix it almost instantly but probably for only 3 days then it’s gonna go back to making the noise
