Just wondering about sending a maybe very valuable coin off in the mail. I was reading about people not sure if they got the same coin back that they sent. Maybe a mix up. It makes me nervous about how often it could happen. Especially with a game changer coin.
Hi Cyndi, Thanks for watching and for your question. There is always a risk with mail, but if that is a concern you can always go with Fedex or UPS instead of USPS which is far less reliable. I would also get the package insured. As for mixups at the actual grader they are very unlikely. I would take pictures of everything with the submission prior to packaging to keep as proof. I hope that helps. Please consider subscribing if you have not already. Best, ACI
Currency World.....as I read the gentleman's comment, his concern was not the mail, but getting back from the grading company his coin and not another coin. Could you comment on that possible problem?
Hi Donna, Thank you very much. I am glad you enjoyed it. Do you collect any particular types of coins? I look forward to gearing from you again soon. Best, ACI
I have been steadily going g through my change for a couple of years now..I just collect common modern coins. Weighing all the coins that may have transitional errors. I've learned quite a bit from watching videos such as yours. You're in my top 5 👏.
Finally rec'd my coins on June 30th, they were rec'd at NGC March 11th. Can't tell you how disappointed I was to find out that I paid for NGC to look for errors on my coins (rec'd an email from them and they apologized) NGC never looked at my coins for errors. They did tell me to return my coins and at no charge they will look for errors. HA! at no charge? It's a lot of money to have coins graded just wished I would have rec'd what I paid for. I wouldn't recommend NGC to anyone.
Hi boudy amir, Thanks for watching. Are we talking about a bronze penny? Is the penny bronze in appearance? What is the condition like? I would be happy to help. Please consider subscribing if you have not already. Best, ACI
Thank you for the information. I sent my first coin in for grading to PCGS. I am new to collecting graded coins in slabs and made a few mistakes. I am glad I ran across your channel
Hi Kevin, Thanks for watching. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. What kind of coins do you collect? I look forward to hearing from you soon. Please consider subscribing if you have not already. Best, ACI
Wow that is quite a stash of pennies. I would recommend going through them and searching for errors and rare varieties. Perhaps you could get some of your family or children involved to make the process quicker and more enjoyable. I hope that helps. Best, ACI
You might want to take a look at the PCGS website and see which dates and mint marks have some added value, that way you can focus on dates that have the highest potential of being of some added value.
Hi Makinmilk, Thanks for watching. I am glad you enjoyed it. The answer is yes, you will generally know how much the grading service will cost prior to sending the coin off. For very high value coins (100 plus) they will charge a percentage of the coin's value, otherwise grading has a flat fee. Best, ACI
Hi Nebo, Thanks for watching. Glad the video was useful to you. What coins are you planning to submit? Please consider subscribing if you have not already. Best, ACI
Hey Currency World! Great information. Coin grading is always a tricky topic. It is always difficult to judge the grade of a coin and when I should submit it for grading. I have used both PCGS and NGC. I am glad you covered all of the basics in a clear and concise way. I definitely going to try to win the big giveaway btw.
Thanks for watching. Coin grading can be difficult so I figured this video would be useful to a lot of people in the coin hobby. I hope to hear from you again soon. Best, ACI
Hi Sylvia, Thanks for watching. Yes, after having a coin or paper money graded. It can generally be sold more quickly and for more money than it would be if it is not graded. I hope I answered your question. Best, ACI
Hi im just full of questions i came across 1dollar bill with a i call it a floating 7 the serial number is out of line would that be worth anything? What does a gradeing company do to paper currency?
@@sylviatrevino270 Thanks for your question Sylvia, I am always happy to help. I am not sure what you mean by a floating serial number. As for currency grading companies I recommend PMG, PCGS internationally, and Legacy (formerly known as PCGS in the US). I hope that helps. Best, ACI
@@currencyworld hi this is sylvia on the currency the 7 is higher up not even with the other serial numbers an thats just on one side of the serial numbers. Just subbed from the UK! Nice video, I will checkout some of your other videos. I have an AU50 NGC graded 1893 S Barber Quarter that I made a video on!
Hi Coin Collector, Thanks for watching and subscribing. It is always great to hear from a fellow coin enthusiast? What kinds of coins do you collect? That 1893 Barber is a great coin! I will go check out some of your videos and subscribe. Best, ACI
Hi Agile Analyst, Thanks for watching and subscribing. Do you collect silver eagle walking liberties? Best of luck with the context. I look forward to hearing from you again soon. Best, ACI
So, I submitted a rare coin, I think. What is your definition of rare? They say that there is no population found. It received a value if AU55. I submitted it through ANACS. I am now going to send it to one of the ones you recommended to get it double graded. What else do you recommend???
Hi Emarean, Thanks for watching. I am glad you found the video informative. Do you collect any particular kinds of coins? I look forward to hearing from you again soon. Best, ACI
I'm a little confused do we have to pay before the coin is rated? wouldn't rating it determine the price? wouldn't you need to know the price in order to pay for them rating it? Do you have to sort of guess what your coin is worth first and pay what you think it will cost?
Hi Rahn, Thanks for watching. I am glad you enjoyed it. I briefly touch upon the cost in the video. This cost excludes shipping and handling. Although grading can get pricey, it is worth it for high grade coins. ANACS is also a good service, but I would always recommend PCGS or NGC as these are the services preferred by most collectors. As a result, coins graded by PCGS or NGC also tend to command a higher resale value. I hope that helps. Please consider subscribing if you have not already. Best regards, ACI
I have 1943 copper penny it weighed the right amount and I tested it with a magnet and it did not stick now I would love to have it graded but I never did this what would I put for the value of it ?

Great video and information. I have been getting coins graded for many years. I have used both PCGS and NGC, and have had positive experiences with both. For higher value coins it does tend to get a bit pricey but well worth it in my opinion.
Thanks for watching. It is definitely worth getting coins graded if you are a serious coin collector or if you see coins as an investment. I look forward to hearing from you again soon. Best, ACI
Since you've had coins graded at ngc. Can you send in a group of coins that are in a plastic case from a mint. Or do you have to break them out before sending them in.
Hi Typhoon, It sounds like you made a great find! What kind of condition is it in? Do you collect any other types of coins in particular? Thanks for watching and please consider subscribing if you have not already. I look forward to hearing from you again soon. Best, ACI
@@currencyworld Hello there. The coin is in pretty good condition. I found an "S" mint mark on it so it should be a proof coin! There are no scratches or dents of any kind. However the mirrored finish isn't as clear as some of my other proof half dollars. I buy boxes and rolls of any kind of U.S. currency. I got this passion from my dad who gave me his entire collection about 15-20 years ago. Thank you for your detailed videos and I'm happy other people have the same passion as me.
Hi Virginia, Thank you for watching and for your questions. To answer your first question it would depend on how expensive and rare the coin is and how much grading will help the marketability of the coin. If this is a coin you are looking to keep in your collection I would not recommend having it graded. If it is a question of authenticity then it may be worth having it graded. As to the second question washing or cleaning a coin in any way will always lower the value and the grade the coin will receive, I would never recommend cleaning a coin. I hope that helps. I would love to have you as a subscribing. Please consider subscribing and hitting the bell notification icon if you have not already. Best, ACI
I've been with PCGS send me my coins to get graded a person shouldn't have to resubmit and pay more money to try to get a higher grade that is another way for them to make money crooks because they should've gave you the high-grade in the first place instead of trying to get more money from you
i have about 20 rolls of uncirculated 2017p coins i bought them 4 years ago in the states and i brought them with me in bermuda where i actually work now after 4 years i am still afraid to open them up and search for errors because i know if i open them there al all brand new and never being touched and they are all shining in a very high grade
I have a few coins to be graded both USA and Canadian. Can I send them to the same grading service or do the 2 countries have to be graded in their country
Hi Dennis, Thanks for watching and great question. Both NGC and PCGS grade both US and foreign coins so you can use the same grading service. I hop that helps. Please consider subscribing if you have not already. Best, ACI

I have a question please, I got a 100 dollar bill from the bank this morning and part of Washington’s hair was in the blue line. Also they do not line up with other bills.
Hi Virginia, I am a bit confused. Is it a $1 bill or a $100 dollar bill? One dollar has Washington on the front. The $100 has Ben Franklin. What you are describing seems to be a print error. The value would depend on the condition and the severity of the error. Please subscribe to the channel if you have not already. Best, ACI
Hi Montague, Thanks for watching. I am glad you are enjoying it. I agree that self-grading can be very difficult especially when it comes time to buy or sell a coin. Best of luck with the giveaway. It may be a while before a winner is selected but I am hopefully we will make a quick push to 100k subscribers. I look forward to hearing from you again very soon. Best regards, ACI
Very good information. I have gotten a few coins graded over the years with both NGC and PCGS. I know some old coin collectors that grade their own coins, but this is very difficult to do and a lot of them never sell. If you ever want to sell your coins I agree that grading the coins is a must.
Hello my friend. Thanks for sharing. I do always recommend getting coins graded if you are treating them as an investment, but getting them incapsulated by a grading service is also a good way of preserving a collection. Best, ACI
Non GRADED coins are not the way to go.If you believe you have something special PLEASE take your coin to a reputable coin dealer in your area and ask what do they think.Grading is costly and PLEASE watch each and everyone 's ADVICE on this.Happy hunting to all of us ENTHUSIASTS!❤
Awesome info. I've been contemplating getting a few graded and wasn't sure or not to. I'm still not sure but it's good to learn a little more. On a different note, I have one of the Confederate $20 notes you showed towards the end. I love it. Definitely a piece of history but I've been thinking about selling or trading to pay off some of my next addition, I'm thinking a proof 70 libertad to add to the collection. I'm not sure yet but been obsessing on them lately

I recently found a Roosevelt dime that's has been struck on a small coppery planchet type. Its a 202? as the last number is not legible. The inscriptions front and back are truncated and the edges are very sharp with none of the hash marks associated with the dime, quarter, and half dollar coins.

Is it an miss-trike or something else. It's just hard for me to Explain what it is that i see, on the back of this coin, but it's not anything done by anyone.!! Thanks for posting this helpful video. I just started coin collecting over the past year. I kept all the change I found interesting sitting in a jar for over 6 months. I hit a needle in a haystack and almost didn't know it. I had discovered a 1971 Cameo Washington Quarter from the San Fancisco mint inside a quarter roll at the gas station I work at months ago, I tossed it inside my jar of silver nickels not even realizing it had been in there I went to check my nickels yesterday and found it. Looking to get it sent to PCGS to have it conditioned, graded, and re-cased. I'm still trying to wrap my head around how it even ended up in a bank roll as I've only seen proof cameos on collectors sites, and like most cameo strikes I'm trying to find out if it was a coin that escaped from a collectors stash or if it had graciously been tossed inside a roll at the mint and survived thinking it was one of the freshly minted 2023 quarters? I can not find any info on whether or not the mint ever circulated cameo strikes outside of collectors sets in 1971.
Thanks for sharing this information. I'm learning as I go. The neatest find I've had of late is a lamination problem on a Lincoln cent or die struck through problem. Lincoln looks like he has vampire fangs plus there is a checkered area & wavy line area plus lamination that looks like it is peeling. I call him my Vampire Lincoln as he sure has a mouth full of teeth...lol
Hi Silver Streak, Thanks for watching. I am glad the information was helpful to you. Sounds like you have made a great find. I have never personally seen the Lincoln penny error you are describing. @@currencyworld I'm not sure on the grading. It does have some scratches and such. It is a 1966 Lincoln. I definitely will be checking out more of your videos & saving some to my playlist. Thanks so much ACI

My first time ever submitting coins to NGC and have to admit it was very confusing but managed to send them in. I sent 9 coins in which they (NGC) rec'd in MARCH!! it is now June 24th and I have not rec'd them yet. Is this normal for these grading coin companies to take this long? Just curious, spoke with several people and was told I would get them this week, well still waiting. Can you tell me does it really take many month's to get your coins graded? Thanks

Hi Gumardee, Thanks for watching. The reason fewer medieval and ancient coins are graded is because many ancient collectors still prefer to have their coins ungraded and to be able to hold the coins. This is changing however, and NGC especially has begun grading many more ancient coins. The criteria for ancient coins is a bit different but I believe their reputation is still quite good. I hope that helps. Pleas consider subscribing if you have not already. Best, ACI
@@Gumardee_coins_and_banknotes I don't think there would be no price benefit. For example selling a graded ancient coin in MS 5/5 strike and 5/5 surface online would yield more interest and probably a higher price than selling the same coin ungraded.
