I greatly appreciate your understanding! As much hard work as they put into creating this pack for us, the least I can do is make sure that I show their work correctly. It was my mistake and I didn't want anyone turned off from their beautiful marquees because of something I did wrong.
@@WagnersTechTalk Totally understand. I have one on order and will be using yours and Pdubs videos to help me get it setup! Between the two of you, not a single thing gets missed!! Kudos to you for being referenced on the AtGames product site as well!!
Thanks for doing this. Slowly getting the USB stick prepped and ready for when the BitLCD arrives, later in the week. Got all the static stuff, forgot about the video files. Will still have to go back, and grab those. :)
Hi Wagner's Tech Talk I added the BitLCD and love it. I did not like the "T" power connection being exposed in the back to being possibly damaged. So I removed the board on the back cover and reinstalled on side of cab {inside} using spacers that I purchase from Amazon with a couple of screws to the side of the cab. I did add a ultiliy switch on/off on the lower back cover which is connected to a power strip inside for all my power connections. And added a power usb hub as well in the back. This would be a great RU-vid video on how to mod the "T" connector. Thanks for the great video.
Hi Wayne, great idea! Also, happy to hear you're loving the BitLCD too. Thank you for your recommendation, kind comments and feedback. May have to look at doing something similar.
Ok I celebrated to soon, after scrolling around and looking at all the video marquees I turned off my machine and now they are not working ? any clues?
I ran into the same issue last night after receiving some information from a viewer. I added a section here to help with it: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-bitlcd/#Troubleshooting (See Video marquees are not playing, but static marquees are -why?). I've notified AtGames, it's likely a BitLCD firmware update that will be needed to correct the issue once and for all.
@@WagnersTechTalk I still have to update firmware lcd every time to get the videos to play. Still no fix I assume. I use a smart plug to turn the machine on and and off. I followed your advice for a year. lol Thanks for all you do. Video marquees are not playing, but static marquees are -why? I had a viewer mention that after you apply video marquees to the BitLCD USB stick, then power off the ALU by disconnecting the power at the back, that the videos will stop playing. I tried this, they stopped showing for me as well. The fix was to update the BitLCD firmware (not the resources). Once done, the video marquees then began playing again. I’ve notified AtGames that this appears to be a BitLCD firmware issue to be corrected.
Video marquees are awesome. But I'm sticking primarily with the static marquee images for now. I've made some custom animated ones for my favourite titles... because frankly I don't want the word "pixelcade" in the bottom right corner of all my marquee animations.. And 95% of this Pixelcade release adds nothing to a cool animated logo because it's simply video caps of the gameplay. But yes, the whole thing in general is pretty cool. Lots to come this year..
I was very excited about the video but after seeing it I agree with you completely. I will be deleting the videos, but these updated marquees are fantastic.. though I dont seem to have any for any version of pac man? It only shiows generic text for those games..
Great Video, as always John - thanks a lot. My Videos worked fine until yesterday, today turned on the ALU an all there was were the Images, all Videos not working, they still are all on the usb stick of the bitlcd. I did not change anything at all, any ideas ? Cheers
Try unplugging the power to the back of the machine, leave it off for about 15 seconds and plug it back in. Let me know if that fixes it. I have had this happen a few times.
While I've only used the BitLCD with the ALU, there is a small switch on the back of the unit which will allow HDMI output. I'm not sure if CoinOps for the PC can take advantage of that or not though, honestly.
Very welcome, thanks for watching! There are 145 console videos included in this pack. As far as console static marquee images, I'm not sure. You may want to post your question here : www.reddit.com/r/FansOfsaUCE for better answers on that aspect.
I followed this step by step with the exception of keeping some of the png static images I liked (better) and deleting the jpg files I didn’t like as much. NONE of the videos are coming up though? I always hate seeing these types of comments because I’m the first to think the person didn’t follow each step correctly but I feel like I did. I’m gonna spend Sunday deleting ALL png files because I wonder if for some reason they prevent the video to work. It’s weird and I’m scratching my head. Love all the help and time Wagner puts into this. THANK YOU!!!! But wondering if there is something not mentioned that could be causing this.
Hi Craig, I ran into the same issue last night after receiving some information from a viewer. I added a section here to help with it: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-bitlcd/#Troubleshooting (See Video marquees are not playing, but static marquees are -why?). I've notified AtGames, it's likely a BitLCD firmware update that will be needed to correct the issue once and for all.
@@WagnersTechTalk So I figured out what it was for ME. I went into the BitLCD menu and proceeded with the available firmware update. I was very nervous because I assumed the firmware and resource update only needed to be followed during the hardware install. Crossed my fingers and it did it's update and worked perfectly right after. So I guess the moral of the story is to update the BitLCD firmware if the videos don't come up.
Hi Wagner! I just added videos into my previously static Bit LCD and love it. Question: In CoinOpsX, do your games cycle correctly? Once the videos were added on mine, the carousel stopped working! :(
Hi David, adding artwork to the microSD connected to the BitLCD shouldn't change how CoinOpsX functions. Basically, all the BitLCD receives is the filename to be displayed and shows it from the microSD. You might want to check for any updates for the BitLCD, I think there was one about a month ago that may help. But if CoinOpsX isn't cycling the games correctly, then it may be something corrupted with the USB stick for CoinOpsX. May want to post your question here: www.reddit.com/r/FansOfsaUCE , maybe I'm missing something in your question that others may pick up on.
@@WagnersTechTalk Good day and thank you! I actually found a thread there reporting the same issue. Everything is updated and ironically I actually did rebuild the flash drive directory to be sure it wasn't the drive itself!
Just a question love the video would you have an interest in putting a few of those flash drives together and selling them to your subscribers? I for one would be interested thanks for the video
Thank you John, much appreciated! As YT and my website is a hobby for me, I honestly barely have enough time to make a video every 1-2 weeks and prefer to focus on the how-to aspect rather than direct sales. Also, artwork is (c) material and selling something like this could cause trouble, isn't my own original work, etc. I prefer to avoid it.
Hi, I’d really appreciate if you could help on this; I’ve got a Legends Ultimate which I’d like to get a marquee for, but I’m running coinops collections rather than coinopsx, would the marquee still work for that or would I have to transition to coinopsx for compatibility?
From what I understand (and could be wrong), CoinOps Collections runs only from your PC. The software would have to be able to output to both the main UI as well as drive the BitLCD (there is a switch at the back for an HDMI input). You'll have to check with the CoinOps Collections team to see if they support controlling the BitLCD. CoinOpsX works directly on the ALU and artwork changes based on game selections. If using the ALU with the BitLCD, the image pack shown in this video (and static images) will work with CoinOpsX.
Thanks a lot! So if you add the video marquees and then have both the static image and the video file for the same game, it will switch between them like in your video?
Try unplugging the ALU from the back of the machine, leave it off for about 15 seconds and plug it in and see if that helps. I've had to do that myself a few times.
From what I understand, there is a small switch on the back of the bitLCD you can flip that and connect an HDMI input and use it for OTG. However, I haven't personally used it as I don't often use OTG on the ALU.
What is the best way to do a Fresh Install if I want to switch over to a newer USB drive? (Previous one I used for the BITLCD copies files insanely slow so I switched to the Samsung USB Stick and Partitioned 32gb for FAT32. I want to just copy over now all the new Marquee and Video packs to the clean drive. Do I put it in the BIT LCD first and update BITLCD or resources before copying folders over?
Should be able to just copy the contents of our existing stick to an empty folder on your PC. Then format the new USB stick, update the fw, etc. as normal. Then copy the contents from your PC back to the USB stick. Should work fine.
@@WagnersTechTalk actually just finished up. Also that additional pack with the updated Terminator 2 video is simply gorgeous. Thanks for All your videos and this latest one.
@@WagnersTechTalk yeah. I run gaming conventions, grew up an arcade baby and competitive fighting game player but don’t have as much time as I’d like to dive into full on reviews but working on more when I can in the future. I get the Sinden light guns next week but not sure they’re easy to setup on ALU or even my mame cab for that matter.
I don't think the ALU natively supports Sinden light guns. But, you should be able to use OTG to a connected PC or other supported device. The AimTrack guns (I hear) will work on the ALU, but I don't own any light guns myself so can't base it on any personal experience.
I honestly don't, perhaps someone else will answer. Though, you may want to ask here: www.reddit.com/r/FansOfsaUCE . More likely to get a quick answer.
Definitely give it a try, there is a small switch that will allow switching to HDMI (I learned of this a few months ago). HDMI should already work, but I've personally not pulled it out of the machine to verify.
@@WagnersTechTalk IT WORKS!!! Holy crap it actually works. I have been waiting on this for month like a fool. 🤣 Thanks for the suggestion, I REALLY appreciate the response.
Hi I've followed all of your directions, when I get to the Bitlcd and launch it the Legends Bitlcd animations begin but when I toggle to anything else it doesn't work
Are you saying the video marquees were working, then stopped? If so, please see the 'Video marquees are not playing, but static marquees are -why?' statement here: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-bitlcd/#Troubleshooting . If it's the same issue, I've notified AtGames of the issue. Not 100% what you're describing is the same thing.
In that case, try the steps "I have a black screen on the BitLCD and unable to update the firmware/resources". However, try only copying the bitlcd_update_online.img (don't re-format or anything, just copy the file). Steps are: 1) power off the ALU 2) remove the USB stick 3) copy the bitlcd_update_online.img to the root of the USB stick 4) re-insert the USB stick into the BitLCD and power on the ALU. When I was testing the bug that was reported to me, this also helped during one of the tests. After that, video and static marquees were working again. I also notified AtGames with steps to reproduce the issue so we can get it fixed!
Here's just a thought, have you previously installed any other marquee packs (like I did)? If so, you may want to try archiving off/deleting everything from your /thirdparty folder, then copy over the new artwork from this archive. This was a mistake I made in the initial release of this video and subsequently corrected. I was seeing a mix of artwork, not all from the CoinOpsX team, they made me aware of it and why I needed to re-release this video (it wasn't right for me to show artwork that wasn't from this pack). I try not to make mistakes, but sometimes it happens. Anyways, let me know if that is the same issue you're having. I'm seeing DK, DK Jr., Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, etc. artwork from this pack.
@@WagnersTechTalk I will let you know but thinking back on it I followed this guide closely and did everything fresh so there should not have been anything left over from previous files.
@@WagnersTechTalk So what I found is the naming convention from this pack does not match the names for the games from my Sauce. I havent updated my sauce thumb drive in a very long time
So turns out the reason for the different names is because my Sauce was OLD.. upgraded to 5 alive and everything is working perfectly. Thank you so much for all you do!
