For listening with peace , for my own pleasure -nodir kul , shondhatara, darale duare, anondodhara and for appritiating excellent creation -murir tin, bonobibi , kotha koiyona, dilaram
Before starting the video, I will list my top 5: (Let's see how many of these matches with you) 1) Nodir kul (and by some fair margin) 2) Anondodhara 3) Darale duyare 4) sondhatara 5) dewana (Even though it's no way near the top 4, want to keep it as a variation, and performance of Boga towards the end) (Honourable mentions: Bonobibi, Deora)
I realized after recalling season 2 with you, How blistering season CS2 was! Rarely one or two tracks were not appreciated but the others, very tough to make a top 5 list. Thank you and welcome back again
Hasn't quite ranked the songs yet but one thing that I'm certain about is that I enjoyed your reactions even more than the songs themeselves. You guys do have an immense knowledge and an impeccable taste of music. Keep reacting, I luv seeing u guys do it.. About the songs, it seems like I enjoyed Nodir Kule the most for a variety of reasons. The appeal to God with a helpless voice, the mesmerising flute which brought me in tears, the lyrics basically telling how miniature we are in this eternal form of creation, are just a few things that made me put it on my top Cook Studio Bangla song for this season. You guys have urselves a splendid day. Luv from Berlin!! 🤍
Great to see you both back in the game after some break. Rather than putting top 5 let me share my 2 cents on all songs and try to rate them from 1-5 starts while 5 being the highest. Murir Tin **: This is the song that was used to kick start the season. It’s an original song which mainly focused on creating an impact on all regions in Bangladesh. This same method was used in season 1 in the song Bhinnotar Utshob. The main purpose of this song to me is engagement rather than actually create a musical message. This song has fulfilled its purpose but its not a coke studio standard song. Bonobibi ****: With this coke studio season 2 actually shows what its capable of actually. Collecting a folklore and putting it into words then combining that with an actual folksong and icing of the cake was the set and ambiance itself is something to be proud of. It had touched every parts of the nerve and it was a masterpiece visually and as a listening material. SM Sultan’s drawing in the background added a lot of earth (in your words). This is the peak of the experience. Sound of drums and lead guitar along with vocals were the highlight of this song. Though it may not be in my top 5 still this is a great song indeed. Nahubo *: Like Garth Brooks said in an interview if taking chance has brought you into the game then taking chance can through you out also. Regarding this song Animesh Roy was used quite poorly if I may add. He is one of the most powerful performer and he could have used more efficiently. Song itself was in different dialect and not all audiences may connect with the lyric. To me its an opportunity wasted. Darale Duaarey *****: This song is just perfect. From the moment go Ishan started singing he was flawless and Nandita as usual was brilliant. It has to be one of the best song of this season. The composition and concept of the whole song was amazing and execution was also brilliant. This is a true gem and justice done to the dying form of Ghazal. Deora ***: Pritom hasan is a popular musician in Bangladesh and he used all his skills here and did a fine job. The number of views show how people accepted his work. Unlike Fuad who wasted his opportunity here Pritom has used a catchy beat and was true to the lyrics of the song and what that song wanted. To me personally this song felt a bit small interms of length (a minute or 2 could have been easily added here) still this is a fun song and it delivered as per its promise. Nodir Kul *****: Like Harris bhai mentioned a thesis paper can easily be written on this song. Both the musical part and lyric (which was there from earlier) was absolutely amazing. Idris was the cherry on the top. The ups and downs of the song the ambiance, lighting and stage everything was just magical. A perfect coke studio material to be proud of. Boga was brilliant as always. This is how you execute something and can look back and think yes we have done this. This song will remain and will continue to touch senses for a very long time. An amazing effort to really make the spirit of music high. Kotha Koiyo Na **: A very unpopular opinion I am sharing here. I don’t dig this song that much. As per me coke studio is a platform where you can do a lot of things musically (like the background use of keys in Nodir Kul) this song lacks that. It rather focuses on the visual show off of Emon Chowdhury. He could have chosen a better route than this. May in next seasons he can amaze some audiences who are currently not in his arena. Dewana **: To me this is the weakest of song of this season. I think selecting the main vocal was the key here. If Boga had sung this instead of Murshidabadi then it would have been a completely different story. Also a lot of things were tried here and this became a complex composition. Shondhatara *****: This is another gem. A beautiful rendition of a traditional song and mixture of a new one. Both Sunidhi and Arnob both sang beautifully. Guitar Sitar everything blended so well here. A perfect song when you are driving. Amazing. Ghum Ghum ***: Lucky Akhond was a master composer. His contribution in Bangladeshi music is immense despite his short span of life. The original song was itself a beauty and here the jazz rendition also perfectly suited the mood and tune of the song. Only thing to me was the pronunciation of certain words which is not in typical Bangladeshi dialect. But without this part this song is extremely beautiful. Anondodhara *****: When you work with a Tagor’s song you are limited to the choice of instruments as its prohibited to alter/edit/modify any part of the actual song and lyric. This is a popular song and we all have heard some way or another and we know what to expect but including the natural elements here was genius and both the singers were top notch in delivery. Dilaram *****: This came out of nowhere. Hason Raja’s epic creation which blended with Arnob’s similar sort of composition and lyric is truly amazing. The delivery of Arnob (yes I am biased) is simply amazing. Both of you have rightly pointed out the beauty of this song. This is another true world class execution. Lastly would like to highlight the sound engineer Buno who successfully captured the true sound of every single instruments and artists and this year like previous one Music has Won.
Was waiting for this for a long time. Here's my top 5: 1. Kotha Koiyo Na 2. Darale Duare 3. Shondhatara 4. Nodir Kul 5. Bonobibi I think Jalal Bhai is not appreciated as much as he deserves. For me he was the X factor in Nodir Kul. Without his performance, Nodir Kul would not be this great. His playing of the flute was the toppings on the song.
Thanks. Really appreciate such support of yours to bangla music. Here's my top 5: 5. Murir Tin 4. Bononibi 3. Darale Duare 2. Nodir kul 1. Kotha Koiyo na
Welcome back. Always good to listen to you guys. This is my share of sharing new music: Popeye Bangladesh: bishonno shundor, Karma, Neshar bojha, tikto shotto
I had never ever imagined I would break down on instrumental notes. At the ending of nodir kul when the clarinet and flute started slow dancing with each other, if it’s some two opposite winds. Rivers were flowing from my eyes.
