Coki Point Beach on the east end of St. Thomas is a popular beach with residents and visitors. The small, pretty beach has white sand and crystal clear water. Good snorkeling is possible along the rocky outcrops near shore. Vendors are available with chair and umbrella rentals, food and drink service, snorkel gear rental and some sell souvenirs.

I was there Jan. '10 but the water wasn't calm..there were big waves...maybe because St Thomas was feeling the earthquake aftershock from Haitis I tried the smootie vendor and it was awesome..you choose 3 different fruits to mix and the caribbean jerk snapper was great tasting from the local restaurant

I've probably been on more cruise ships than anyone reading this, yet never been on a cruise. My dad ran a ship chandlery that had a monopoly on selling liquor to the cruise ships in the early '80s, that I used to spend my afternoons after school doing my homework at, that was located at the last building on the Havensite dock (has Senior Frogs painted on its roof). After growing up on the island and starting when I was 17 in late 1986, we used to roam Charlotte Amalie downtown streets at night bar hopping Coconuts, Rosie O'Grady's, The Ritz, Yesterdays, then to the Greenhouse at 10pm for the current live band, when everyone was partying in the islands. Since the bars closed at 2 AM we would go out to steal cars, usually rentals, and race across the island, afterward sometimes stripping them for parts. I've floored it in a brand new 1987 Accord LXi from the Fort all the way to Frenchtown one night easily doing 100mph, which was not unusual to do with stolen cars never mind the ones we sort of cared about, and I hold the record for most boats stolen in one night while alone; three - I took them to a birthday party. Would you like to read about real modern pirates based out of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands taking place in the end of the cocaine fueled 80s? Poor people shouldn't steal the tourist shit or they won't come back. Out of the 3 families that rode in the same van to coking, 2 got ripped off

I have visited and lived on St Thomas, off and on for more then 40 years. It was exceptionally disheartening the last time I visited, to find the Island has been mismanaged for so long, it has turned into one large Ghetto. The Island Government has done nothing to manage the population, and, the local Black population has exploded, covering much of the once green island paradise with mostly cheap or apartment block style housing. They have even allowed building up the sides of the hills. My last impression was more like Harlem then the lush green paradise I first came to love. The water at most St. Thomas beaches, smells of sewage. This, from the huge amount of septic that runs off from the apartment complexes and sub-divisions now covering the Island. The once coral-filled bays are now nothing more then rotting, dead, grey, lifeless cess-recepticles. The crime, drug and violence rate makes living anywhere on the island, very dangerous. Few locals travel out at night on many of the downtown streets or, east end of the island. Used to be you could drive in several country-like St. Thomas North and East side roads for miles. There were farms, pastures and fresh air. Now, it's so built up that it's just non-stop urban slum... and it's getting worse. The local population is increasing SO rapidly, it will soon be the equivalent of one large Penal Colony. I regret reporting this, but I have seen it with my own eyes and watched the Island deteriorate under "local" administration for decades now. The locals seen to care less and, appear supremely unqualified to administer the island responsibly or make the tough decisions. It's not rocket science to realize you can't allow the local population to quadruple on a 2 miles x 7 mile island... Locals don't even seem to notice how cramped, dirty and smelly it is. Kind of like vacationing in downtown Lagos Nigeria, or central Yangon. Filthy. Many Tour companies presently warn against visiting St. Thomas altogether. If you are older, inexperienced, traveling with children or non-street-wise, the St. Thomas "trip" could be the worst (or even last) experience you've ever had. There are many, many places that are clean, safe and unspoiled. This is definitely not one. Come here to study crime, drugs, overpopulation, environmental destruction and pollution.

By all means please post a list of the clean, safe and unspoiled destinations you speak of. In addition, any suggestions on controlling the local population would be greatly appreciated. They can be forwarded to local and federal government officials for immediate implementation.

Basil Vascopolis just got back from st Thomas and it was beautiful... it seems as if the black ppl there have you feeling some type of way. Tough luck, take your panzie ass to a village in Ireland or something. No one will miss you. Just my 2 cents coward lol
