Coko singing in the studio for SWV's album "I Missed Us. The album dropped Mid April 2012. Follow Coko on twitter: only1coko "If Only You Knew" is a remake orginally sung by Patti Labelle.
You all are confusing categories. Entertainers vs Vocalists. And yes, some people can be top tier of both. The people you named like Michael and Aaliyah, while their singing was great, they were more all around top entertainers. Now, Michael in his youth would be considered a top vocalist. Coko is less of an entertainer, but is a Supreme Vocalist. That's her specialty and she's in the top tier of vocalists.
@musicpassion88 Keke doesnt even sing words when she performs this song. All she does are runs! Her studio version was HORRIBLE! Everyone is entitled to their opinion but its FACT that Coko sings this song better :) Patti Labelle said so.
Exactly right! (Most people don't get stuff like this and will want to throw musical theory all over the place in protest) But yes, Coko did this in mixed here, but in the live videos where she can rip, she belts those notes for real, and I don't know of any single other person singing this song who sings the high part and belts it in chest (not mixed) not Patti, not Rachelle Ferrell, etc
Brilliant vocals; brilliant performer; and brilliant vocal performance on this song! I love COKO! She always brings her *A* game! WOW! Peace and love...
Beyonce can sing, but her stans put her above other female vocalists based on her commercial success. Which has nothing to do with vocals. Just like Tanya Blount her voice is POWERFUL to compare her vocals to Beyonce would be a waste of time SMH The list goes on................
@@KrewTelevisionAuthentics wen u tek up an Aretha Franklyn or Patti LaBelle years after that infalable sound u hear is the same u get listening to people like Coko and Keke years after they no longer record music...these 2 women are it for me...hands down #flawless
@musicpassion88 UMM There are SEVERAL Finished versions of Coko singing this song. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but its a FACT that Coko SINGS this better than Keke. Keke doesnt even sing words when she sings this.....all she does are runs. On the recorded version Keke uses her falsetto NOT full voice.
@CKB1987 Good glad to hear u saw her, she is much better vocally now than 15 yrs ago, when I saw her. I usta luv SWV, until that concert at Key Arena, I was SHOCKED LOL...I hope they come with it. I liked Taj, until she was rude online, I felt sorry for her because of her childhood. After that incident ONLINE I don't feel sorry for her anymore LOL. But I will support them based on Coko...
@CKB1987 OMG Whitney can go, I'm glad she giving up smoking, that's what the outpatient rehab was for. She said newports had her HOOKED, lol! Coko is my favorite outta that group. I went to see them at Key Arena back in 96-97 when I lived in Seattle, Wa. I was so disappointed, I was in shock lol, the freak BS was totally uncalled for on stage. Coko left they azz lol, I love the Sunshine single! I hope they do it right this time, I'll support them, like I always did. Just dont get NASTY tho lol
@CKB1987 Ummmmmm Patti don't strain, on her version. So, no lol !!!! But, Coko ain't slouching here, so it really doesn't even matter. I can't wait to hear the finish product. I miss Coko and the girls. Here's to the return of SWV !!!!
You're right. Coko will do that too you. Have you ever heard her belt these notes live? She really belts them on stage. She held back some here because she's in the studio so its more mixed register here and more chest live.
@@KrewTelevisionAuthentics KrewTelevision Authentics I want to see SWV live. I know they are about to tour with Toni Braxton and I know it will be amazing! Coko is probably one of the best female vocalist. It's like that song was made for coco, she's a natural natural!!!
@CKB1987 when I seen them in concert in 1996 for some reason I could have sworn I heard them sing this. I'm probably wrong. I was 20 back in 96. Getting old. Lol
The one she did on TVOne at the Trumpet Awards was better but nobody seems to be able to find it or have it. Here is the one in Chi-town ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-x4bq6E2mPQA.htmlm33s
CKB1987- hell yh i was front row at he o2 in london dec last year when they performed this and dang that woman can sing...they tore it up when they were there banging vocalist.
Based on all aspects of singing, Co Co is the top 10 best female singers EVER. In their "Prime" they are: (Not in any particular order) Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Regina Belle, Yolanda Adams, Ke Ke Wyatt, Co Co, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Deborah Cox. Those are amongst the best - but not in that particular order. I specify in their "prime" because obviously some of them are a lot older now and some have lost a lot of their voice. CoCo is one of the few that I named that actually sounds better NOW than she did back in the day.
Natalie Cole held her own for a good number of years too; but don't forget Marsha Ambrosius, Rachelle Ferrell, Ledisi, and Chrisette Michele...amazing singers, yet they're so underrated. B-side artists always get overlooked...
@@nard1952 She started to lose her voice in 2016 & in 2018 it was shot. She made a post on Instagram about it. Watch the video from last year at the versez singing this. The last few high notes she couldn't hit.
@CKB1987 Hell I'll take Expose. Pretty Poison, and backstreet boys over this hot ass mess today. I'm glad Whitney came back, she had an incredible CD, for some reason she got blackballed AGAIN, I finally bought Toni Braxton, it was good too, no airplay lol! There are no good male singers period! Even rap *(they call it hip hop)* today lol...and I can see why...its just terrible, its usta be fun, now its all about money, sex and hoes lol...All this auto tune stuff needs to just stop. So sad!!!
@CKB1987 LOL I know a lot of people who are just sick & tired of it. I know Ms. Lee knows, all she cares about is her greedy ways, never mind the welfare of black america, and its future. The music was bad in the 80's, turbulent in 90's and the new millennium brought in the absolute worst of the worst. If u listen to music of the 50's and 60's when artist actually sang, its totally different. These days they just lip sync. I see how & why today's artist *(not singers)* LOL get over!!! SMDH
