@@Heyu7her3 Kelly went solo 1st. Stop moving the goal post. Michelle actually release an gospel album before them both and 2 albums out by the time Beyoncé was still promoting her debut
0:22 The passive aggressiveness & microaggressions from that woman was so obvious. She had the nerve to say "Paper bad, cupcake good". Glad Patti checked her.
I love her bluntness. It is not mean spirited, just not a bs'er. Her confidence in her instrument is refreshing to see. No faux modesty. Classy sass is part of her image. She is not one of my top favs but I respect her talent and like her aura
Her classy sass as you call it is an ages old stereotype of the sassy black woman. She always claim she ain't about mess when she always ready to get somebody told....Patti is not always truthful. She tells a story in an interview then in another interview the story changes...

I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Labelle in her dressing room backstage years ago and she was one the most down to earth, kindest and unpretentious people I have ever met.
I mean yes and no. Performance and artistry isnt JUST about the voice though. Someone like Lady Gaga has both. Where the show is as important as the talent. Thats not lesser than adele who just goes out there and sings.
@@24kgoldplatedvermeil I agree. Gaga and Beyoncé are a couple of artists I feel could put all of the backup dancers, lights and props away and still deliver amazing performances solely off of their vocals.
@@variousJnames obviously you're entitled to your opinion but I respectfully disagree. Beyoncé has proven herself to be a formidable vocalist in her own right since her start in Destiny's Child. I'm not saying she's the BEST singer on Earth but to limit her solely to her dance skills is a bit inaccurate. But again it's your opinion.
@@Dual971 That happened in Philly at the Welcome America concert on the 4th of July a few years ago. I was watching it on TV live and I remember she kicked him right off the stage for being so disrespectful.
I don't know who she is talking about but if Janet Jackson is one of them. No shade because Janet is one of the greatest dancers of all time and her voice is not powerful but pure, soft and lovely! So everyone was not meant to sing the same way!
@@TM-oe2onBeyoncé would be the wrong example for her to use. Beyoncé has proven countless times that she doesn’t need the “props” and backup dancers. But I am glad she uses them.
I love what she said about singers who dont got “it” or “soul” & have to use props. & a legend like her shouting out Xtina is awesome cause people play in Xtinas face but she is one of very few naturally gifted vocalists today.
Yeah but most of the clips she's talking about Beyonce!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 That was BEFORE donned herself a singer!!! When DC first came out EVERYONE talked about how Beyonce can't sing!! The MOMENT she got with Jay she was talented!!! 🥴🙄🤡🤔
@@AnastasiaBeaverhousn Who the hell was saying she wasn't talented until she got with Jay-Z ? Is it crack that you smock ? What's your talent ? What can you do that she can't ? Foh. She sold 50 million records, won 3 grammys and had 4 number ones before they even got together and was the most talented girl of the group by far and with way more work ethic and drive than all of them combined
@@popland1977 It also speaks on how in America she is always in Queen bey's shadow so she haas to get jobs in Europe. Edit: just found out she's been replaced by Bebe Slay Rexha in that regard.
Love, Patti! If you can’t sing without the props kids, sit down. Should not need auto tune or a mic. Get down with the get down, no power or electricity, sing with a candle. My grandmother sang with the big bands in the 1930 and 1950.
❤ her!!! She’s always been a straight shooter..I remember watching that Tyra episode and I was PO’d, the nerve of that nobody to reprimand her over that damn cupcake!!!! Pattie is a legend honey!!!!! And she can cook!
I have loved Patti rom the first note I ever heard her sing. A little white boy from south Arkansas and I had ever picture and record I could get my hands on. Then getting to hear her in interviews and hear what a funny and smart woman she is makes my love for her even greater.
My grandmother was exactly like Miss Patti Labelle. She would never miss me. I became such a better person, spending two weeks 24/7 with her. That was the best gift that life gave to me.
I walked in the room where she was being interviewed by Lee Bailey. She took my hand and sat me down beside her and held it till her interview was complete. Yes, I love this woman!!
Patti LaBelle is amazing singer, but I could pay to just watch her being Patti. I love how direct she is about singers. Training and classes are of course valuable, but at the end of the day you either have talent or you don't. She has it.
The perfect Easter present, thank you ☀️ Remember when she went on Andy Cohen and he asked her about her iconic performance for president Clinton back in the 90s, and she says, “I don’t remember that” LMAO Loved it 😂😂😂
Miss Patty is legend. I love her so much. Also because she is from may 24th like myself and she enjoys my idol Xtina in todays music. Long live Miss Patty ❤❤
That was so sweet seeing how Michelle cry I think she really took in what Patty had to say especially you know how she was treated behind the scenes and by fans of course. And ultimately didn't really get that much better after that she did do her own thing though with her gospel album purpose in your storm which was really good in my opinion. I just love the love that she showed to Patty
I am the biggest Patti Labelle fan ever since I was old enough to hear her voice, some folks you are introduced to by your surroundings. It is lots of artist that I love that were way before my time, but I listen to them as if I were alive during their heyday, Sam Cook, Otis Redding, Donny Hathaway to name a few. I love her generation of singers when good natural singers were plentiful. We have turned into a world of non talented, social media, follower driven, prop using auto tune created people. You never could count the great singers, you can now. Patti is one of the originals and can still out sing so many today. I would love to have a conversation with her, she reminds me of my aunts…..
If she ever comes to your city, drop what your doing, buy them tickets and grrrrrrrrrrL get ready for the concert of your life. Granted, I saw her bout 15 years ago, but god Damn nothing could prepare me for the treat which is Ms Belle. That woman took Everybody to church that day. She straight up sang for 2 hours then came back for an encore which lasted another hour. It was one of the Best concerts I've ever been to. I laughed. I cried. And I literally Felt the Spirit. Ms LaBelle is on a whole nother level from the rest of the girls. Maybe Aretha? God rest her soul. But no one and I mean no one can come Close to this womans vocal range. It was like fireworks during new years! To this day I smile when I think back to that concert.
Well where’s the lie?! She has sown into this industry and in my opinion has a right and space to critique and speak on the industry as it is/was. We honor you Mz. Patti! 👏👏👏
I remember when the interviewer at 2:42 asked her about Christina Aguilera touching her songs and she said "She can sing her face off! she got the voice to do it! see a lot of people shouldn't do that" Lol :D
I love Patty, I always have. She's real. I saw where this girl thought Patty was going to eat the paper. And she's right, If you can't sing, then you can't sing. You go Patty!
This woman is grounded w/respect and quality. ....truly, up to viewing this posting I felt Ms. Labelle had overblown attitude all these years. Not, so. She is spot on, in my book, and deserves the best. Lucky lady.
Good singers like Patti don't need anyone else on stage....Just like Whitney H... She could tear a stage up...ALONE !!! Singing her heart out.... She would get up on that stage fully dressed / & barely moving (&) get a standing ovation time after time .... But this generation doesn't expect much bc they're not listening to the voice... They're distracted by the half naked dancers / flashing lights / costumes etc.
3:11 “so many people say to me, Ms Labelle I need to go to *VOCAL* school - I said for what ? - To learn how to sing with soul” Those unknown people didn’t know that Patricia Hotle is a high school dropout, aka “Ms La Belle”
● Thanks for your reply, Marcus. ● Popularizing *MUSICAL ILLITERACY* like that is extremely harmful, specially by an Icon like her. ● I'm a classically trained Pianist for 25 years not a talented singer like you & her. @@Worme95
