Melvin Ramirez I like it 🤷♂️, I mean everyone obviously likes the stand and bang guys but if you wrestled before you can appreciate some high level wrestling
So, this fight has a back story and what I believe to be a bit of a narrative... ok great. But that does beg the question, where does Kevin Lee fit into all this?
Colby and masvidal said they would fight either way as they "best each other in the gym all the time" it's just business and money making to them. They used to be room mates. Its would be s great fight but I see Colby already started getting wee digs at Jorge
Same here, I'm pumped! Then the dc vs stipe card in a few weeks with pettis vs diaz is another great card. Ufc put together some solid cards this summer!
@@Jorge-wg9tq Sounds like a nice way for it to play out lol. Colby is good, had some great fights but I don't see him getting past Lawler. He just talks a good game but trying to trash talk with Lawler is like trying to eat crisps out a bottle.
Borja Polo different weight class and completely different situation. are you at all familiar with how dangerous the Welterweight division is right now and how the Featherweight division is basically the complete opposite? also, Frankie has a more distinguished career and fought in a lot more championship rounds/fights than Jorge. to use Frankie Edgar’s most recent failed title shot at Lightweight as an argument as to why Masvidal deserves a title shot at Welterweight is just ridiculous, it’s almost apples to oranges. (edited - grammar)
Gotta say - Hate on Colby all you want, but the fact that Colby has to go through so many hoops to get a shot at the title is B.S. Colby should have first dibs on Usman. Colby is being saddled with Woodley's fight right now.
How is he being saddled with Woodley's fight. Woodley was the champ and like can happen, the champ lost. Colby is just an interim belt holder, so he should fight, especially how he was side-lined for a year plus, but keeps claiming everyone has been ducking him. Weird logic, and you seemed to have taken over that same weird logic
Really? Its bullshit? Lol you're way off man. Whats bullshit that ignorant fans conveniently forget to mention he turned down the unification fight vs T-Wood. He got himself justifiably stripped because he was scared. He doesnt deserve shit.
@@FILMkijkertje Dana White has set interim title bouts for less than the for how long Usman has been sitting out for. Colby has consistently called out the Champ, and has consistently been passed over. He won the interim title fair and square, only to be stripped at Dana's leisure, and for him to be kicked pretty much to the back of the queue for no real reason. Masivdal is looking set to possibly jump the queue in front of Covington, despite only having a two fight win streak. Dana is looking for excuses to overlook Colby. As for Woodley - he needs to get a win against a Lawler or equivalent level fighter to re-enter the hunt (after what Usman did to him). For Colby, fighting Lawler is just another way to stall Colby's rise to the belt
It's a totally different argument with Ferguson and Colby. Colby wasn't injured for 6 months then returned on the same night as subsequent champ. Colby had “sinusitis”, a blocked nose.. Allegedly, for more than 2-3 months.. After proclaiming to be a fighting champion.
Difference between Colby and Tony, tony not only took a fight on the same card as a title fight that should have been his, he fought a top ranked and former champ. Beat him, then came back to beat the number ranked 4 guy, Colby won his interim belt then refused to fight for close to or over 1 year
Tony is the GOAT so not here to drill him but you sound like Dana here. Tyron, who loves to bitch about not getting love, got away with skipping fights with bs injuries for 2 years. Colby gets a surgery and loses his title shot to a guy that beat people he already beat.
@@WeHaveTheRansom pretty sure they offered Colby the fight though, and he turned it down so till got the fight.. Colby also ducked Usman 5 times, also Tyrone was out with injury for a year not 2 so that's a lie, Colbys claim to the title is the same guy that lost to leon Edward's but you dont see Edward's saying hes the champ.. Tony is a champ whereas Colby is a chump
@@WeHaveTheRansom also kamaru fought 3 times last year against 2 people it took Colby nearly 2 years to beat as well as the scary looking Meek. That's why even then kamaru deserved it more, you could even argue Jorge deserves it more as hes had 2 KOs against 2 top 10s one that was top 5 and the other was an undefeated 19,0 fighter
@@taylorstrange310 lmao I love that you call him Tyrone. That's gotta piss him off so much. I don't think Tyron scares Colby but he is definitely scared of Marty. That dude is enormous for the weight class and just beats bodies up for 5 rounds. Also Tony is my favorite fighter idk why you ever brought him up
Just watched the fight. Covington outclassed lawler in every way and every round. I was surprised by the performance thst Colby Covington put on. There is no doubt that Covington needs the title shot!!!!!
@@NicolaMaxwell Spencer is very good though. She needs more experience but she is very good. She should cut weight to 135 and she will definitely be in the top 5 or higher.
Yeah it's weird that 2 guys who had never faced the welterweight champion and weren't ranked as the top 2 contenders even fought for an interim belt. Colby turning down the unification vs Tyron is why he was stripped and Chael conveniently leaves that part out.
I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Colby and Masvidal. Colby's been taking some subtle jabs at Jorge on Twitter about his record and hanging out with Woodley so there is something to explore there.
You definitely can't make the same arguement for Ferguson and Colby Ferguson never turned a title fight down came back 3 month's before he should and still won against Pettis
This one is a no brainer guys, the shot goes to Jorge. Why waste the insane hype train behind Masvidal and give it to the least popular heel of all time? If Colby gets over on Robbie, then give him the Tyron Woodley fight that hes been campaigning for for the last 2 and a half years. Both fighters have done tons of promotion for that bout and the winner would obviously be next in line for the title shot. The only guy who misses out in this scenario is Leon Edwards... 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
This is a very interesting fight for me I'm super excited... Robby looked very strong and power in the L against Ben and Colby has very good cardio and paste as well as wrestling.. so to me it comes down to how much better is Colby getting training at ATT ..I feel that it is the best gym in the world.. so I bet he's making progress just like everyone else.. just like Jorge, Dustin, Amanda, Nina, that guy that just fought Jon Jones and others and they all clearly get better and better..I think Robby has to knock him out to win and can.. Colby better be on his game and head on a swivel lol ...that being said I'm going with Colby in 5 rounds in a close fight..it is 5 rounds right
Colby will get rocked in this fight. This will show how good his wrestling and overall game is when he's in danger. If he succeeds then he's legit champ material. If he doesn't book Colby vs askren
Plenty slip from a cup and a lip great stuff chael But i am surprised you never mentioned colby coming out to Kurt Angle epic theme song Also people want cejudo to throw in his gold medal brilliant just brilliant I have to say
If Lawler wins it's really going to shake up the WW division. Love him or hate him Colby deserves a title shot even before this fight. But if Lawler beats him all that goes out the window. Masvidal doesn't deserve a title shot yet. I'd say he has to win one more big fight before he's even considered.
Practice and a real fight is completely different. A guy like Tyron probably sucks at practice due to low volume and bad cardio. But in a fight he can unleash his explosiveness unlike practice. Its well known that Lawler used to beat up Tyron but he got knocked dead 2 minutes into their title fight.
Colby respects Robbie, you can hear it on his rhethoric and see it on his behavior. Colby’s trash talk is just for ticket sales, in my opinion it was not needed since him and Robbie will still sell good
Lawler is ranked around number 10. He needs a good ranked opponent. He won't get better than number 2. I doubt he would turn the fight down based on rankings. I think that would play more in his decision to take the fight more than being worried about whether he can beat his next opponent.
Post fight: pretty sure Masvidal has no chance at that title shot over Colby next. Unless Marty doesn’t fight then they might do Colby vs Masvidal at MSG or Vegas later this year.
Not even a question, even if Colby wins, the people still want to see Jorge Masvidal. After Colby's hiatus I think he should have to get over one more hump after this fight before being given a title shot. All 4 of Colby's last fights went to decision. Masvidal has 2 glaring knock outs this year alone, all against elite fighters. Jorge flat out deserves it more. If the UFC doesn't want to have people that just sit on the strap, then Colby is not the one to market.
Yeah if you’re an up and comer training with the champ you’re gonna do your best to try and prove that you can outwork him. He on the other hand wouldn’t care nearly as much.
Colby? Masvidal? I want Robbie Lawler to fight Usman. I want another fight as good as the Ruthless vs Red King fight. But he needs to win over Colby 1st. As much as Colby deserves the title fight, I want Robbie to win.
I know Jorge’s name heated up after that knee but I’d personally rather see Colby get the title shot, provided he wins against Robbie. Honestly, I really don’t think that opening a fight with a flying knee against someone you KNOW is going to shoot for a takedown instantly is all that impressive. Obviously he had the technique down and he executed it well but I’m not ready to call Jorge the next big thing just because of that KO.
Can't compare the plight of Colby Covington to that of Tony Ferguson. Colby is on a 6 fight winning streak, Tony is on 12. Colby has beaten 3 top ranked opponents, Tony has beaten 7. Colby has fought zero times since he was stripped of his interim title, risking nothing. Tony has fought twice since his interim title was stripped, potentially risking his #1 contender spot, fights he didn't have to take against Cowboy and Pettis. Colby does not get the same sympathy.
tony hurt himself during media obligations for the ufc. colby pulled out of the woodley fight in hopes of fighting on the mcgregor khabib card and ufc wasnt having it.
Hey Chael What about USMAN TRAINING LAWLER FOR COLBY!!! THAT MAKES FOR A GR8 TOPIC!!!! NO ONE GOT THAT AIRED OUT!!! IT WAS JUST MENTIONED ON AN INTERVIEW W ROBBIE AT THE SPORT DESK W USMAN NXT TO HIM!!!
Truth be told Colby deserve the title shot as he's interim see with Tony Ferguson who won but was stripped also. But at the same time Woodley deserves his shot but Dana is no way in hell giving him the fight. But Jorge needs one more fight against Edwards simply because Edwards has earned it whilst Masvidal's current streak can't be ignored but don't forget he was losing only few fights ago
Main difference between Colby and Tony is Ferguson got injured and came back in months after being implanted with a ligament from a cadaver... Colby has been talking shit for a year and not fought anybody.
Masvidal should fight Leon Edwards. Two wins don't get you a title shot, and Covington won the interim belt. If Lawler wins, Usman can still afford to wait an extra month or two for the #1 contender to emerge. Booking Masvidal vs Usman is a mistake regardless of the result of Lawler vs Covington.
If colby wins and has to fight Jorge Masvidal before a title fight hes going to have big problems. Masvidal won't let Colby disrespect him and talk shit in interviews. Either way it will end badly for Colby.
