I like both Colby and Lawler. This fight makes no sense. Colby vs Usman was the fight to make. Colby is/was interim champion. Colby vs Askren is a fight I can't predict.
Because his time where he got "leverage" is running up bro. People are already forgetting he exists and he has to keep the people hating him^^ If askren wins on saturday, he will jump colby for sure. There is no reason for dana waiting for colby and stopping askren, as askren is already a bigger draw then colby. And colby doesnt wanna fight woodley for a non title fight, woodley is matchup wise a bad choice for him, lawler is more "easy" to beat for him at this point of lawlers career.
Colby hasnt fought in like 16 months now, and that "only" because of sinus problems. I think like 20% of grown ups in the western area have sinus probelms, as our necks are imbalanced from all that sitting. Thats a "luxury" surgery, u can do that at anytime u dont have to play politics and try to make the divison wait for you to blow your nose... Damn usman fought with muuuuch more severe injurys than having to breath from your mouth when u need much oxigen... thats basically all a sinus problem is ( and snoring while sleeping of course)
He hasn't fought in over a year... If Tony Ferguson can get skipped after missing 6 months for a legitimately gruesome injury Colby will definitely get skipped.
Colby has fought once in the last year and twice in the last 2 years. He isn't getting a raw deal on anything. He's lucky to get a fight of Robbie's level
Cheal think about this if Robbie gets the W against Colby and wins 1 more he might have to fight his teammate Usman for the belt, kind ironic after leaving ATT for the very same reason ...
i absolutely am not a colby fan but his style is an issue- I can't wait. I agree Robbie looked good. I would have liked to see a few more rounds last go out there but whatever. Be great to see him knock him out

Colby got boned that’s what’s going on. Sure you can say he shouldn’t have tried to act like the Tyron fight was “on his terms” and waited to get it at MSG. But after that, its Colby whose gotten boned. First by Tyron, then Usman, now Dana.
It's a two-way street though...the up and comer is sizing up the champ, but the champ should definitely spar all potential future rivals to study them, too.
If the same Lawler that showed up to fight Askren shows up to fight Covington it's going to be a freakin war! Usman Tweeted that Askren is next since Covington signed to fight Lawler. I'd love to see Askren vs. Usman. 👊🏽
As crazy as it sounds it honestly does seem like Usman is ducking Colby. They are trying to get him completely out of the picture and of course Usman did what every other fighter does that wins the belt and claims to be injured and in need of “recovery” so they can hold onto the belt for as long as possible without fighting
Tony Johnson Does it still sound crazy? Colby just ran through Lawler like it was a tune up fight and Usman still isn’t trying to fight him or Masvidal. He’s calling for a Leon Edwards rematch when Leon isn’t even in the top 10. Usman is scared of Masvidal and Colby because they’re real treats to his title and he’s only interested in fights he knows he can win.

I don't really see how this one could be kamaru's fault tbh. Seems to be ready for the November date Colby Covington himself said he wanted and now Colby is fighting a few months earlier than the actual date that seemed the most realistic. Kamaru will definitely milk this and I sense of a fuckery filled title reign from him, but this one is on the UFC/Colby.
Tyron shouldn't have lost that fight. Like he didn't do anything in that fight; never seen Woodley act like that before in the octagon... was so strange to watch.
if he appeared to be out, then it should of been stopped..in that situation, with that choke and who was applying said choke. If he appeared to be out then you have to stop it as a good ref. If you look at the other side of it and if he didnt stop it, that Bulldog can break/crush your jaw. Herb did everything 100% as he should of.

That injury was the best thing to happen to Woodley. Cuz he would've gained NOTHING from fighting Lawler again. (a guy he knocked out very quickly) The same people arguing "Woodley doesn't deserve an immediate rematch cuz he lost convincingly to Usman" are the same people that expect Woodley to fight Lawler, who he beat "convincingly". It's such a double standard. Make the guys who never fought, fight each other...thats the easiest way to determine this "Round Robin". I like the way its all shaking up tbh, I agree with Chael.
this entire scenario is excellent. Lawler vs. Colby and askren vs. Masvidal.. anyway you slice it the follow up matchups are interesting as hell. If Robbie Beats the shit out of colby (please lord)... then we get a chance for the askren/robbie rematch.... and if masvidal wins... we might get a Jorge title shot... If colby and Jorge both win?? what happens there? interesting to see if the narrative about the friendship shifts..and they fight eachother (not likely) and in the case that they won't fight eachother, who gets the title shot? There are so many interesting scenarios.
Look at the matchups that could happen in the next year. Ben and TWood friends Colby and Jorge friends . Lawler could (Hopefully) ruin a lot of big decisions for the other 4 when all is said and done! Who knows how this can all pan out?
They must have 2 champions in every division in case of one's absence, 1 champ is not active enough and gets hurt too often. The interim champ or no 1 contender should be the 2 champ.
Kind of wondering why Ponzinibbio isn't being considered in the picture, dude is on a 7 fight win streak. Once he's back from injury you gotta think another win puts him in title contention.

I don’t like Colby but he has been skipped a couple of times. This fight is great but what happens if Colby losses then theres no Usman vs Colby. Maybe that opens Colby vs Woodly. Anyways I love seeing the pieces move. Its the UFC chess that we all crave.
This is absolutely horrible. They need a 165 pound division. It feels like a lot of good guys need title shots. You could put Wonderboy back in a title shot, Pettis, Ferguson, Jorge in title shots. You could keep a lot of very entertaining fights going, and they would be for a real title. Right now, it's going to be 5 months until we get a 170 pound title fight. That's too long. The UFC needs to be able to have a 165 pound division to capitalize quickly on this huge star making performances. The general audience isn't going to be concerned about what the "weight class" is. They just want to see entertaining guys like Jorge or Ferguson get a title shot.
Any time a champ gets injured or for whatever reason can't defend, he should be stripped and there should be a fight for the actual belt between 2 top contenders. When the champ has recovered, he should automatically be given a title fight to reclaim his belt.
Woodley fights RDA, winner gets Kamaru. Winner of Askren vs Masvidal and Colby and Robbie fight each other, and the winner of that gets the next shot at the belt? (Even though Colby should be fighting Kamaru straight away)
This is all to set up Askren to fight for the belt..i think the ufc is assuming askren beats Masvidal and rematches robbie and beats him again and fights for the title some time in 2020
Give LE more respect - one more win he needs his shot; and guess what... he will take the belt. Might not be as exciting but he is a better version of KU, in my humble opinion, let’s see what happens
