You could always put a thicker base gasket on the carb for summer. I put a phenolic spacer on my 318 roller can really helped with hot starts in 98° summer days. But if it runs nice in summer it be good.
Moparnut will see how it works in the summer don't think I will have a problem. Ran the cast intake in the summer and never had a issue so I think I should be good.
With pump gasoline today they do run better with the exhaust heat crossover left open. They Working solution with blocked off exhaust crossover for Racing is to use Pure uncut 110 Motor octane gas but of course it costs a Fortune now to fill up with 18-20 gallons at a time.
B&R was never a big fan of blocking the cross over but figured what the hell give a try. It is wild the difference between open and closed so much better open. I wasn't planing on running it at the NNN if anything I might make a easy pass or two. It's not a 600hp monster it's just a stock 265 hp 350 so I won't be o overly impressive. I know think about getting a truck and trailer but what fun is that. I like driving them.
@@Testasspeedshop9997 The thing to do is when spring March 2023 is here go and test at your local tracks. If something breaks you found the weakness, likely the U-joint angles are off or the Clutch is not up to Parr. Fuel pump no good ect. Retest. Every car is different. Every type of Carburetor atomizes fuel different also. Pontiac Tripower wants the heat crossover blocked off I recall. Easy cold startups yet. Real cold winter days heat crossover needed working
Don't drive that far and Race your Firebird Hard and drive home and not without failures. You need to have a 3/4 ton or 1 ton 454 Chevy Truck or Diesel Truck and a Good Car Trailer rated for at least 8000 lbs payload.
