Celeste was mad at Rainey for leaving her in the locker room! She believed that Rainey was trying to destroy her chance to finally be popular! Its sad when someone ends up trading a treasure for an empty box!
It's on again in Belgium since last week , every day 🙂. Ive been bingewatching the recorderd episodes Yesterday. Man, i forgot how good this show is. God Bless the lazy sundays 😊
After watching this so many times I still get the chills. I forgot about it but was watching Cold Case and realized this was the episode. It was the first Cold Case I ever watched when I was like 7 and I couldn't sleep for a week. Scary that a friend would do that.
Hey, when it comes to popularity, people like Celeste takes the risk of letting her friend die for that. I just view that disgusting & down right cruel
Celeste didn't call the cops so it's partly her fault for Rainey dying. How did she not get convicted? She didn't call the ambulance so what the hell? Rainey is/was so beautiful on the inside and out. She's the first victim in any crime show that hasn't done anything bad eg. cheat with someone's boyfriend. She did nothing bad and it makes her death worse.
I'm glad I survive through High School even tho I was bullied, name calling, unpopular, and doesn't socialize with other kids. I realized now that this whole High School popularity thing is nothing but there are things in real life that are more than "popularity".
Same situation here except that high school IS real life. Few people realize this but school is actually as real as anything can get imo. Those who haven't (yet) had to experience rejection in any degree, at any point in life, is simply in a case of arrested development. So high school is real, at least to those who have been to the real side of it.
I remember when I watched this one. My brother was describing to me what was happening to Rainy as she was dying: How all that X was making her brain fry and such. Those graphic details, coupled with me just sitting there listening to her and everything, nearly had me in tears by the time she laid her head on Celest's chest. It's just sad that people (especially those my own age) choose to take this way as opposed to standing up for what's right. RIP Rainy! A true believer in what's right!
So liquid X is exctasy. Exctasy is a club drug which can also be hallucinogenic. When one has too much in their system it dehydrates and overheats them .The brain practically cooks and mixed alcohol can have deadly results.Rainey not only died from alcohol poisoning but from the overdose of Exctasy in her system. I am a recovering addict and also work in substance abuse field.
The sad part is Celeste was more than willing to help Rainey until she said her mum was going to shut down the squad due to bullying...then you can see it click in Celeste's mind that no Rainey has to die which is pretty shit xxx
@@michaelvantuinen503 it was the liquid x. Celeste dru**ed her drink because Becca was making a fat joke and making fun of her and Celeste added more than what she was supposed to and (I guess) Becca was unaware she put more liquid x in it. (Liquid x is this thing you put in your drink to make you feel 10 times more dr**k) and that's what killed Rainey. Becca and the other girls held her down and Becca force fed her the alco*** also yes that's when Rainey died. Her body wasn't found until probably the morning in the day. (It was in the very first scene of this episode)
No the beer was from the Captain of the squad as Rainey tried to stand up to her. It was forcefully poured down her throat. As for Celeste she didn't obtain anything but lost everything. Her mind soul was shattered all she believed she had left was the squad. The music in the scene and the writing was by far some of the best that I have seen of the show. Peer pressure is a powerful motivator we either flow with the current or tread against it to form our own path.
Saddest part about this scene was celest chose cheerleading and being miserable for the rest of her life than her best friend and have the happiest life......so sad
There is no disputing that what happened to Rainey is horrible. As to how Celeste could let it happen, remember that in attaining what she thought she wanted, she was gang-raped by ten boys - no way to "sugar coat" that. Once that happened, whether the end was justified or not, Celeste was clearly not in her right mind. Having not reported that, if she let Rainey destroy the squad, she would be labelled as the "class slut" for the remainder of her high school career, and likely beyond.
Some things are defiantly more valuable then some squad.. I wonder if when Celeste graduated or some time after, she finally realized that not only she had no more cheerleading squad to 'make her someone', she no longer had a true friend that always accepted her anymore because of a stupid and pointless reason. Today's Moral: Stick with those who truly see you as a friend, and avoid the whole popularity thing. If only more can learn that
Yea I'm with u on that one. When I was a freshman in high school, many people, including me, wanted to be popular and be accepted towards the whole "in crowd" but what did that get u? Drugs, low grades, problems, multiple relationships, stress, and depression. I had to learned that the hard way when I wanted to fit in with the popular kids. That's when I learned that the only people u should be around is family because they always stick by you and I also learned to stand out and be a leader because that's shows the real and unique u instead of a follower fitting in.
I use to want to see episode again but this scene sad and tragic Celeste is pathetic to let her friend die for a extracurricular activity, this is the most depressing episode in the entire series and that's saying something. It makes me kind of glad that I went to special ed school.
@orchardcaitlin I know! Her death and Rita Baxter from "the Sleepover" were the saddest because they were both really great people who showed maturity and compassion that made them so likable. It's sad that they didn't get to have full lives (even though they were fictional).
The beer was Celeste's, she said so. She put the liquid X in it, then gave it Becca, when Becca said "Give me the drink!" I agree, this is a sad episode and shows how hard peer pressure
I was refering to the fact that it was brought to the grounds by the captain of the squad.Yes Celest took it and then handed it over without much of a fight. Sad though she let her die rather than let her live and spread the horrible deeds that were done to possibly protect others in the future
I read somewhere that when at the end of an episode you would see a ghost of that dead person looking either grateful/happy now that their death was solved or they don't look happy because they didn't how things went out for them or that someone didn't love them. I'm trying to figure out Rainy's expression: Is she smiling cuz she got justice or is she isn't smiling?
I will trade a single true friend in exchange for popularity and acceptance by fake 'friends' any time. Its makes me cry to see a loyal friend like rainey left to die by her best friend so her reputation does not get ruined in which it wouldnt matter anyway after high school
Celeste was insecure and had no self-esteem. She wanted to be popular so badly that she was willing to leave the one true friend she had for the popular cheerleaders. What she didn't see was Rainey was always her friend (she seemed to think Rainey wasn't after the locker room) and that to the other popular girls, she's always be a "Fat sixth grader" and never part of them.
she had sex with alot of guys to follow a tradition and let her real friend die just to be popular is pathetic. I agree with you there. Eventually all that is useless after she finished school like what happen to becca. her popularity now is she's a prisioner
Celeste should have gone to prison for killing her friend. Yes Celeste did murder Rainey. I had no sympathy for Celeste at all .What she did was no excuse for her actions. She gave the beer to Becca to pour down Rainey's throat and failed to get help. That to me is murder.
I think it's fair for me to say that, after discovering Cold Case, I can NEVER take people seriously again when they reveal to me that their preferred form of escapism in television is the sort of waste of money and creative talent that are the likes of Gossip fan Girl, the OC and One Shitty Hill. America has good writers that create shows like this & they chuck it out for the age of mindless, social-media-fueled, complete garbage. Adieu.
I can't believe people are completely missing the point and thinking Celeste was choosing the squad over Rainey because of popularity or whatever and not the fact she was sexually assaulted and Rainey was going to tell everyone about it.
She did choose the squad. This episode is basically the film/musical Heathers reimagined. Celeste is Heather M, who's afraid of being alone, to the point of wanting to commit suicide when she is kicked out the group. Celeste is the same. She's so terrified of not being in the In Crowd that she chooses the group over the life of her friend.
Rainey was going to tell the authorities like she's supposed to do. It is Celeste who is the bad person. Celeste is afraid being alone, and Rainey reporting it would've made her an outcast in the group she coveted to be in.
Real friends don’t push you into being someone you’re not to like you and constantly degrade you in return! They accept you in return. 10 years later, Becca still thought of Celeste as a loser. Rainey died accepting Celeste for who she was and trying to get her to do the same for herself. But she was so down on herself that she wouldn’t take her word for it, and left the one person who would ever care about her to die. Since then she has been all alone regretting her decision. Becca on the other hand showed no remorse for her part!
This episode has the same parallels as wonderkind even though one is about high school and the other is about gangs both killers made the wrong decision and picked a group over there real friends and family
Isn't the girl who plays Celeste the same girl who came out in Superbad? The one who hooks up with McLovin? lol I teared up in this scene. One of my favorite episodes.
Et le pire c'est que Celeste est devenue misérable une fois qu'elle a été diplômée car elle n'avait plus Rainey comme amie, elle est vraiment une des meurtrières les plus tristes de cette série.
Yes there is no statue of limitations for murder. Watch cold case henhouse or even one of the episodes depicting the 30's through the 50s .The murderer still is arrested every time.
I thought this was from law and order for so long, that’s y I couldn’t find it, I think I was too young to be watching this cuz I remember the death scene and it really freaked me out, it made me sad too tho seeing her watch her friend die, never seen this show honestly, I watched law and order, but this episode was always somewhere in my brain
Here's the thing when it comes to cold cases here's the thing if you killed someone by accident or murder I don't see how you can sweep that under the rug live with yourself not telling the police or anything knowing that you took somebody life destroyed a familys happiness and wait 30 to 40 years or whenever they find out my concince would eat me alive till I did the right thing
Yeah she was the Blonde woman in the green dress who just got arrested. But both did got arrested cause celeste let rainy die instead of saving her and Becka is the one who poured the beer
Because Rainey would have told her mom what the cheerleaders made Celeste do in the locker room and the squad would be over. She didn't want to give up being popular and liked.
I know this is a long shot, but does anyone know the name of the song which was playing when Rainey and Joe were kissed on the bench after he drew an atom on her leg? I really liked it and I couldn't find it anywhere, thanks in advance :-)
I know it has been a long time since you posted this, but you should try the IMDB page for the episode, it has all the song listed on the music category.
like every two seconds i read about bullying and popularity shit in the usa..plus i talked to idk 10+ muricans students and all of them tell me horrorific stories about how their unpopularity ruined their lifes ...this tv show just remembered me all what i said
whats the name of the song ad the end of theses episode when she meets the guy whit the long hear well she is dead but him see him aparently , sorry about my inglish im from france
This is our world. It's no wonder that our entire world is collapsing around us. I wish we could fix it all, but it seems with the whole Climate Change thing we have run out of time to better ourselves.
