One of my greatest memories is seeing them play an unannounced gig at Parra Leagues when Circus Animals was out (either late 1980 or early 81 from memory). It was a warm up for their show in the big tent for Circus Animals. No advertising. I was at the club when they announced over the PA that Chisel would be on in about an hour. Rang a mate. He bolted down there. The auditorium was only half full and it was still set up for bingo! As this was decades before social media word got around via phone calls from the public phone at the club by people like me. They played for a couple of hours, even doing covers in the encore. Brilliant! Barnsey was on fire. Leapt onto the tables, ran through the audience. Roadies feeding the mic lead. What a night

I love this song so much. Written by the drummer Steve Prestwich (RIP). He wrote quite a few of their hits. Definitely has a Police vibe with the drumming and the bassline. Great band and another great reaction. Seen them live a few times including as The Barking Spiders a couple of years ago (those who know, know). Peace... ✌

@@Eskay1206 The Police started in the 70s too. Plus they were huge in 82 when this was originally released. Lots of bands were trying that sound back then because it was popular. Aussie Crawl did the same. Peace... ✌

Hadn't noticed the Sting sound before, but you are right! The song Khe San by the same group is an anthemic song about PTSD after the Vietnam war. Jimmy Barnes' vocals are showcased in the song Stone Cold in Love with Joe Bonemassa. Another hauntingly beautiful song is Flame Trees. Also I'd love it if you played one of your old favourite songs, so we can get to know what you love.

Forever Now" is a 1982 single from Australian rock band Cold Chisel. The second single from the album Circus Animals, it was the first Cold Chisel single to be penned by Steve Prestwich. The song reached number 2 in the New Zealand charts, and number 4 in Australia, the band's highest chart placement. It stayed in the charts for 18 weeks.[1] The single was released in more countries than any other by Cold Chisel. In America it was titled "Forever Now (All My Love)" Prestwich, who could only play drums at the time of recording, had to hum the melody to the rest of the band.[3] Producer Opitz said, "The first time Chisel played 'Forever Now' on stage, it was a 7 minute version at Parramatta Leagues Club and I was blown away. I rushed to the dressing room and told the band, 'We've got the single!'" At the time it had the working title "Acapulco Piranha". Walker said, "'Forever Now' was a jammy idea that we were doing at gigs and doing at sound-checks and developing. Mark Opitz recognized very early on that this song has the ideas to be a single and be a very important song for us." Prestwich later commented, "Mark was very happy and so was I. I'd always felt I had the ability. My biggest hurdle was to be unselfconscious about writing." Prestwich further felt that the "very melodic" song balanced out some of the rock songs on Circus Animals. Main songwriter Don Walker said at the time, "The songs that the other guys are writing are getting so good these days, you know, like Steve has written a couple of excellent songs for radio, while this time none of mine were suitable for singles or anything like that." After the release of the single, Walker said, "Steve was drunk in the studio one night and was explaining that "Forever Now" is meant to be read on several different levels. But as far as knowing what those levels are and where they're leading, I haven't sat down with him sober and got right into it

A lot of people always request the same songs over and over, but there's so much more to this band, they're brilliant story tellers with a rich language and diversity of music and all of them are so talented. That song was written by their drummer Steve Prestwich, another favourite of mine that he wrote was best kept lies, sung by Ian Moss the guitarist. Then there's never before, written and sung by Ian Moss, both songs on the East album. But one of my all time favourites is one long day. Btw, they also do the best version of wild thing I 've heard, live on the last stand tour.

Hi Mike, I wonder if it shows at your end - I have seen this video was up for over 24 hrs, but I have only just been able to see it because it was "blocked in your country". I hope this hasn't affected your view numbers. Second time this has happened to me with a song from Oz on your channel, and as an Aussie I am offended by You Tube. Maybe I'll have to get a VPN the way the platform is carrying on. I always eventually get a notice when I can finally watch. But it does make me wonder if others may not like or comment because they are delayed also.
