I think the main reason your plants do well is that wall that absorbs some warmth from the sun. I live in Modesto and struggle growing tropicals but have a tall fence around the yard on the south facing side.
I'd like some fresh lychee berry's(are they berry's?) You should discuss such layman's things when talking about popular subjects. I'd think lychee are up there along with avacados?
