*COLD START* How To Start This 2000HP Jet ENGINE On A TRAILER

What costs $1,500,000, makes 2000HP, and you can run it continuously? This Dresser-Rand jet turbine that powers a giant high pressure nitrogen pump. Sentry built this rig that turns a massive tank of liquid nitrogen into gas that can be injected into the ground for drilling, increasing well output, or moving oil from an injection site to a production well. A customer dropped it off with my dad and just said it won't run. After some troubleshooting and repair it's back in service and ready to head back out into the field. First we're going to show you how to start this mobile jet engine and cold start it.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Common Questions:
What motorcycle do I ride? A few. Ducati 1198, Honda Fury, Honda Grom, Honda Ruckus
What do I do for a living? Make RU-vid videos and work in enterprise data storage.
Can you wheelie? No, I suck.
Are you fast? Sort of. I suck mostly though.
Where can I keep up with you off the bike?
Instagram: WatchJRGo
Facebook: WatchJRGo (or JRGo, FB hates my branding)
Do you go to school? College, for 2 classes.
Why do you ride so dangerously? What do mean? I was doing 25.
Do you go to the track? Of course, hopefully there will be videos in the future.
Do you play video games? No, but I might stream N64 Goldeneye at some point. Twitch: WatchJRGo
Are you afraid the police will watch your videos and arrest you? Something something evidence something something warrants and due process of law

Boy does this bring back memories for this old man. I Used to work for a very large aircraft engine maker and would test the turbines that were used in planes, ships and tanks. The largest engine of any kind I worked on was a 380,000 HP marine engine.

Your dad's a righteous dude - he broke down the operation of that turbine, and made it sound like anyone could start it(not that anyone should, that's probably why it was needing repair in the 1st place). That's why your videos are so detail-oriented, fellow gearheads like myself appreciate that.

Too many people today like to diminish the influence of fatherhood on the development of children. Obviously you had a good upbringing. Although I suspect you were a little sh*t growing up too. LOL. I've been field service for this engine types and it is KG2 now named SGT-50 after Siemens-Energy bought Dresser-Rand. Very reliable engines. So if he gets requests again with issues, he can contact Siemens Energy Kongsberg Norway that are product owner. Fun to see what jobs these KG2's are doing. Sold approx more than 2000 units world wide. KG2-3C, KG2-3E and now a new era machine KG2-3G.

You think that’s loud wait until you’re on location during a frac job & 4-6 of those things start up it’ll rattle your mind. Just out of this world noise. They have to use multiple pumps to get the amount of N2 to go down hole. It’s amazing what it takes to get oil & gas out of the ground. Thank you Sir

Awesome demonstration of the KG2-3C turbine and frack pump combo. Make sure to have the lube temp permissive (30C) before you spin up the turbine. Also, once you kill the unit or spin down, keep running your post-lube system (keep the pony motor running) to prevent ruining the bearings due to insufficient lube pressure and oil viscosity drop due to overheating of oil at reduced oil circulation.

Gas turbines are quite a bit more prevalent in different industries than we're aware of. They're used as driving units for pumps, generators, etc. Anything that needs an extreme amount of non-grid power to run is probably being run by a turbine. I've seen quite a few factories and warehouses that used turbines to handle their "over-power" requirements, which essentially means it fills in the gap between what the grid can supply cleanly and what the facility actually needs.
