I aspire to be half the shooter and teacher that mojo is. Such an inspiration. The way he manages to provide constructive criticism and advice while making the person feel good about themselves and demonstrating all relevant skills with ease is so valuable in an instructor.

I taught skiing a few seasons and it's incredible how important it is for students to feel acknowledged first for the good things they do, and then gently told about what they can improve. Most humans don't do well with direct, critical "drill sergeant" style instruction.

Mojo continues to be one of the best there is. The hotwash with PJ after his 1st run on where/why he threw that round off the steel is something so small that makes a WORLD of difference.

Great videos, my question is on your set up.I completely understand the gamer mag pouches for the videos for getting fast times, however those can't be what you would actually use on duty. For me contact has led to nothing but mags going flying around the ground and losing gear then actually running flap pouches. And by contact I mean hands-on compliance techniques to gain control has led to pouches similar designs losing gear or worse The unintended gaining gear.

Great video, Mojo. Target transitions and follow-up shots combined will test anyone's grip. Pretty much the best way to ensure you have a solid grip is doing drills that combine multi-shot strings and target transitions. Last night at the range my club practiced 4 drills on transitions. One station had a front USPSA silhouette as your view/physical obstruction, with the A zone cut out as a port. About 10 yards back, directly behind, is another silhouette. You would shoot from the right side of the obstruction, then transition to a crouch to shoot through the port, then from the left side of the obstruction. Transitions and efficiency between them was the idea, grip and sight picture tested the entire time. If my master grip from the draw wasn't bang-on, and I didn't keep my upper triangle steady, it took much longer on the transitions before I could break the first shot after transition. On the grip break & running position -- in USPSA the 180deg rule limits how you can move w/ handgun (or PCC) and there are very efficient ways shooters have worked out to stay w/in 180deg rule while moving from spot to spot. You guys may have doctrine that limits your methods for management while moving, but if you haven't looked at the top USPSA shooters' videos on pistol management during movement, it may be worth checking out. I can't even begin to contemplate temple index for movement, that has to come from Hollywood and not reality.
@bobbyfreeman8345
@bobbyfreeman8345 9 месяцев назад
Temple index is quite common in police work depending on where you work as you can keep your eyes up and still have a free hand to push someone out of your way…. I have personally seen more people flagged with sul or however you spell it far more times in live calls than just about every position
@seanoneil277
@seanoneil277 9 месяцев назад
@@bobbyfreeman8345 But doctrine comes from somewhere, and hopefully not Hollywood teevee or movie "reality." Hollywood used temple index as a symbolic, character-identification devide: this character is armed. Get the pistol in the frame! To have police emulate a Hollywood fakery idea isn't the wisest thing. I could understand people stacked in a line, all muzzle-high, if someone had to work out muzzle discipline for a stack of people. But otherwise, what's the reason? Who holsters from/at their ear, and/or otherwise feels a temple index is easy for presentation?

The male brain is not predisposed to instinctive multi-tasking, whereas the female brain is. It's an evolutionary trait, as women had to perform daily tasks while also typically carrying/tending to infants, and successful males were the ones that could lock in like a laser on ONE task. It takes time for a guy to develop multitasking, but it's a constant struggle for us.

same here, i unfortunately am in the UK but do play a sport frowned apon by those who gatekeep which begins with A. but i love to try and work what i can learn from these videos, defnitely a trigger reset video or segment would be cool. I still want to work on his 1 12 123 1234 12345 drill and try to become good at that as i've somehow made myself only good at normally 3 or smack the trigger trying to get as many rounds off as i can to the target.

Mojo, I noticed your holster is a little closer to the 2 o’clock, is there a reason why? Draw times?
@codysmith6617
@codysmith6617 8 месяцев назад
Bit of a late response but this is becoming a more common trend. I’m left handed, so I run my holster at the 10 o’clock position, as opposed to the 9 oclock due to that being a bit more a natural position where your arms rest. Allows for a more natural draw and presentation! Hope this helped

To each their own, but if you are in a fight, you will not move rearward that slow. I mean moving straight to the rear does not help much anyways because you are staying in the same position, just creating a little more distance. Very slowly I must add. I dont know what your goals are, but one would think its about real world situations because you are coppers.
