Cold Steel - Dragonfly Series Japanese Swords

The classic Japanese battle sword in all its incarnations has been celebrated for centuries, not only for its elegant lines and simple beauty, but also for the technique and skill that went into its construction.
Most of the Japanese style swords offered today are interpretive copies of antiquities from feudal Japan. They were made for warriors of smaller stature who seldom rose above five and a half feet. As skillfully designed as these swords are, they may not be perfectly suited for the twenty first century warrior, who benefited from contemporary advances in childhood nutrition and healthcare and grew up to be a substantially taller, stronger, and more athletic version of his historical counterpart.
As a way of compensating for this size disparity, Cold Steel has created the Dragonfly Series. These swords feature thicker, wider and heavier blades, which mirror our famous Emperor Series Swords in respect to high-quality heat treatment, polish, furnishings, and attention to detail, but with a few noticeable differences...
The Dragonfly series feature distinctive teal-green silk cord-wrap and black ray skin handles and black iron furniture that bears a distinctive dragonfly motif. Also, the polished blades feature a more pronounced curve than our Emperor blades and terminate in a long "iris leaf" point for maximum cutting and slashing potential.
Additionally, these swords come with two protective bags.
There is a blue travel bag and an intricately decorative display bag that's made from the finest silk.

Todd Willis lol I'm 145lbs and I can take down guy's rolling in around 200, weight dosen't make up power knowing how to manipulate momentum and your opponent dose. A pillar in combat never stands long where as a reed in the wind is easily missed.

Forrest RedFox ikr. I want to keep saying they shouldnt let em cut with the swords but then he jus goes and cuts strawberries and other small shit like its second nature. And the fact he closes his eyes when he does it makes it more impressive

@@christiansanchez1486 Then imagine what a 200 or 300 lbs guy can do when he knows how to manipulate those things too 🤷‍♂️ Small guy stands absolutely 0 chance if both are equally skilled (no, small guys aren't always faster either...). I always love how little guys come up with all sorts of stuff, like "oh but I'm more skilled" or "big guys aren't smart"... like it's some sorta universal fact 😂 Not saying you in particular do that, but those that do: it is not universal fact. Size doesn't affect skill or brain capacity. Tho it does in a way that smaller guys (again not saying you) seem to be kinda dumb when they think smaller frame means they have other beneficial attributes. They usually don't, physically or mentally other than they fit jobs that require you to be smaller (like a fighter jet pilot or F1 driver). It's like they think just because they're small, universe somehow compensates with increased intelligence or different skills or something. Nah, they're just smaller 😅

This guy is probably the only guy on any of these videos that has any real skill with a sword. It was the first time I was actually impressed by one of these stupid overdone tests. Everyone else just swings it like a bat. I think the least skilled is the guy at 2:56. He just swings like an idiot who’s trying to look cool because he has a sword but he just makes himself look like a bigger idiot.

I respect these guys not only for their swords, but also because they still post a video even if they mess up a little, like how the guy cut through the bottom of the trash can and bounced the blade off the block. It also shows that the swords can take a beating.

The Dragonfly Katana in my opinion is really a Tachi, due to the more accentuated and pronounced curved through the entire blade. Tough 1060 Carbon Steel, beautiful design, and looks like it’s a good cutter that takes a lot of punishment. Wish Cold Steel would make videos of their more exclusive Katana models like the Gold Lion Katana or the Mizutori Katana.
