If you’re a woman using it in a self defense situation, you’re probably good. If you’re a man that ends up using it in a situation, expect the prosecution to scream premeditated due to the style of blade. Now here comes the “I’d rather be judged by twelve than buried by six” crowd.
Sharp stick, piece of glass, wooden letter opener, bone folder (leatherwork), piece of Perspex, deer antler, broken leg bone from a cow or turkey, knapped flint, ceramic kitchen knife. Do they really think these laws will work?
What’s the HRC on the Recon Magnacut? I’ve heard Italian 🇮🇹 manufacturers make it a little soft. Love my Recon 1 tanto might get him a Magnacut brother.
I wonder what the retail price Is going to be for the caledonian edge. It's sad that the Hold out 2 isn't available anymore, hopefully this one will fill in the spot.
The first three pocket knives are only suitable for cutting bread or opening letters. If you attempt any serious use, you will lose at least your index finger when it slips onto the blade.
New warranty is garbage. Don't buy these knives if you ever plan on using them. I bought a Recon 1 clip point in 2016 with the expectstion of a lifetime warranty that covers parts, old knives should be grandfathered into the old warranty.
I have really mixed feelings about these choices. It's good to see Cold Steel bringing back some of those older series but with the other stuff I question who Cold Steel is actually listening to when it comes to requesting certain things. A Magnacut Recon 1 sounds great until you realize it's $260 compared to the $85-100 standard S35VN version. It seems like they only listen to Josh or "Jimislash" for that kind of thing because he's willing to blow thousands of dollars on knives. The general Cold Steel customers tend to buy the standard stuff when it goes on sale at Midway USA and Amazon. When most real Cold Steel customers have been asking for is to make the standard models in 3V instead of S35VN and keep the manufacturing in Taiwan and keep the prices where they're already at. 3V shouldn't cost them more money than S35VN either. Then to do an AD-10 in 3V is great except it's a special edition in titanium so the price is going to be up there while you can get the normal version for $100. It seems like Cold Steel is trying to be something they're not. Cold Steel has been good at providing amazingly capable knives at non MAP prices that anyone could afford and then go out and use. This feels like a switch to special editions that some will buy and collect and sell or trade but not use. The Cold Steel Nation Facebook group are the most loyal and die hard Cold Steel customers and they've been asking for knives with 3V and tougher work horse steel at current prices but GSM is a marketing company after all and that just doesn't sound quite as good as a special edition.
I’m going to check out the re-release Recon-1 right now. I don’t think it gets better than Cold Steel’s social media culture 🤷♀️ Cool additions, Stick!
Magnacut made in Italy, why not Taiwan? All the coldsteel that i brought made in Italy is Trash come with QC problems, i was so excited about recon 1 in magnacut but see it made in Italy drop the ball plus is $260 pre order too expensive, I'm sure the steel is not twice better then s35vn.
Thought I was the only one!!! Even my really expensive Italian made 4 Max that I bought years ago had all types of quality control issues… keep it in Taiwan!!!!! Taiwan takes pride in their quality knives
