The way I see it, Cold steel's 4034 is similar to Buck's 420hc. With proper heat treatment and quenching processes, you can get a high level of performance out of a lower end steel.
I feel that chopping down a large tree is a good test of the durability of construction of the knife and it's materials. The kukri design has been proven for many decades in it's capabilities so it's nice to see that Cold Steel has done a good job of recreating it in their lineup.
Excellent video! Very pleased with the performance of 4034 steel! That was a pretty good amount of work there and the edge held and "SHAVED"?!?! Man, I'm good with that!!! My 4034 Natchez is coming... Can't wait to get it! Thank you Matthew.
It's a tough blade and I own two O1 Tool Steel models and still like what I see with that 4034 SS blade. Just may get one being as though I like Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri knives so much 😎
It seems like a myth at this point. I know there were some made, im guessing a normal production run, and they werent “special edition” that i know of, but NO ONE has them. Not even the places that have them advertised for $1000 have any. Never seen one come up for sale used either. Been wanting one for so long
I was looking at those mystery Ghurka kukri machetes and heard GH brand was good and no name brands were bad? I saw Nepalese they wanted $100 to $200 for untested blades and outrageous shipping! I said baloney! This looks good to me!
Welp, i did alot of thinking and decided to get the 4034 version. I just can't justify the price of the 3v version. I also picked up the worksharp field sharpener you showed off. Thanks for showing that the 4034 version can hold a good edge. I subbed
@@mathewrculbertson bruh, this thing absolutely slaps! Made short work of some oversized branches my limb cutters couldn't fit around. the Im a little sad now that i have nothing left to cut. Cold steel should pay you for selling these things lol
That would annoy me so much, having another tree limb prevent full motion of chops. Chopping wood is an angle left, angle right, and repeat motion. You're going straight down, every chop.
Waiting for mine excitedly in the mail..😂 To the trolls, ypud have been through it faster had you been able to get an opposing attack angle, but you couldn't due to the verticle branch.. You needed a full swing.
But it is not as awesome. And when you have loved that that have chronic pain issues to sound. The chainsaw is really suck for the. Thanks for stopping by the channel.
Well THAT was interesting... Can't tell what kind of tree that was but it sure wasn't pine. I was more concerned about poison ivy than the knife brother. 😂 Chopping right straight edge down at nearly 90 degrees will dull just about anything, so that came out well...Thanks
