Cold steel should sponsor you for this video LOL. I bought one after watching this video and love it. I got the zytel AUS8 model and the Luzon to compare. I think the TI Lite is better construction, lock, and steel. The Luzon feels a little cheap and the edge rolled after a cut or two in regular cardboard. It had bad lock stick and 100% lockup when deployed hard. The TI Lite also works better for Pikal.
This makes me happy to hear! Congrats on your purchases 🔥🔪 The Luzon pocket clip worries me and I certainly agree the Ti Lite brings more to the table with steel and construction 👊🏼
Nice review and knife handling. Wow though, you had to have loosened the pivot to shake it open like that! Mine doesn't move no matter how hard I snap it. Even the thumb stud requires a monster thumb press and wrist snap to successfully deploy.
Luckily mine was pretty smooth out if the box! If you already know about adjusting the pivot I am sure you have already added oil/lube too but will mention it just in case! Some times a few good hard flicks will loosen a stiff action too!
Always snap this since it may not fully deploy, snap it fir finger insurance before wraoping the handle. Its not my first choice for food orep, but will handle sandwiches and bbq chickens.
I still use it for a EDC and I don't care what people say it's designed for I will be the judge of that. I use it for food prep and kitchen use and even chopped down bamboo stalks with it and it works plus it's still sharp after that.
What the shit , after owning this knife for like 2 years I just learned that you can whip it open 😂. I usually just use either the thumb stud or snag it on my pocket when taking it out . Great video, just found your channel and I already love it.
Why don't they just make it a modern steel stilleto instead of a half ass assist? O hate these assist knock offs. Just build a proper stilleto out of modern materials.
It sucks tactical tavern, I'm from los angeles. That will get me locked up more than a tri ad lock lol. Not an Aus 8, 10, 10a fan. But lynn thompson and andrew demko are the reason I got into knives. However, it's the non tactical , that makes the best self defense . Why ? No one knows what's coming when I pull out my spyderco or small scandi.
@@tacticaltavern very true. But the best level of defense is cardio. The ability to run from unnecessary combat. The ability to hang during a barrage of punching. Or when weapons are concerned, the ability to have the heart and wind to handle the fight or flight response.
In Joe X tests, AUS 8A, 10A, and even entry level 4116 sometimes rival 1095 in terms of toughness. There have been reports that 8A is less stainless than some other steels in the same price range, however. It's still legit stainless though.
@@tacticaltavern Really man. Your format, the content, the editing, the martial aspect of the show, everything is top-notch. Your videos are not overlong. I hope your channel grows exponentially. I like your channel, jimmislash's, stiletto's, and Lynn Thompson (Old videos). Keep it up. God bless you and your team.
@@tacticaltavern yup! Besides the 5-inch piece that I love, use, and take care of, there's still the empty hand techniques that I learned. It's all about the precision and the power of how I do the empty hand techniques.
Awsome review. I always wanted this model but was afraid it would be a little bulky. Do you think it would be possible for a person replace the factory grips with something really thin, effectively cutting down some of the width? Not sure if its possible, but i would also want to move the pocket clip down just a little, so it rides a little higher and doesnt look like i have a hard on....lol Finally I would grind down and sharpen that false blade on the back...man I think that would be some awsome upgrades, but not sure if they coupd be done without serious modification.
Thank you very much! I think it would be possible to grind down the grips with enough patience- certainly could and it would be much thinner. You would have to re-drill and tap for a new pocket clip placement. I’m sure it could be done and honestly for the price you could get two of them and if you mess it up, you have a back up!
@@tacticaltavern In your opinion, would those mods make it a much better carry knife? .... providing that a person's primary reason for carrying a knife was self defense. I mean I know it is hard to pin down what is the optimal carry knife because everyone has a different build and different style in cloths they wear....but if it was a little slimmer, and rode a little higher, would you be happy carrying it if you could only carry one knife for your defense knife role? I'm assuming it fits the bill once deployed...lol Or would it just be too heavy/bulky no matter what?
@@anonymousf454 It makes a good knife for personal protection on a budget but I feel it doesn’t 100% reliably deploy for me and is a tad bulky Instead I would go with the Cold Steel Hold Out 6” and slap on a Snaggletooth wave mod 🔪

@@tacticaltavern Hey Tomas! Geno here...... I rewatched your Ti-Lite review. I've had one for years, and it's been a workhorse over the years. The best thing is the huge "thwack!", when you open it......very awesome piece. It's great for practicing twirling...... In fact, would ya do a tutorial on knife handling and twirling? You're great at making it look natural!
@@BaliBoyEuge Geno! Thank you - actually a few people have asked me for a video going over knife handling and I could certainly see doing that… I am just concerned about having people hurt themselves… maybe I just put a big disclaimer! Totally open to your thoughts as the balisong artist you are 👍🏼🔪
@@tacticaltavern Hiya Tomas! Thanks for responding! Yes, I would suppose that young people or inexperienced knife handlers should hear a warning before tackling new skills, but hey, "to bake a cake, ya gotta break eggs!". I've always admired people that work on their flow skills, whether it's drumstick twirling, pencil twirling, nunchaku, beglieri and balisong...... So please think about it.....and break it down to whatever hints you can give to make it look natural and flowy. I love your opening segments, where you do a flash move, just before "Let's cut into it!"
@@BaliBoyEuge I like that- I will work on something Also check out the review of the Spyderco Paramilitary 2 Tanto… that is one of my favorite flourishes ;)
